I am so glad the Enterprise came up with this great forum!! I really want to thank everyone who e-mailed me for getting in touch and relaying information. I love reading the postings and hearing what everyone is up to. We definitely need more feedback from 1988 grads so we can all catch up.

Thanks again, Lea Ann (Gentry) Hill

Subject: Al's

From: c f ray

Ray, Good to hear you talk about Al's. I spent lots of good times there! I don't if anyone remembers my 1929 Model A Ford (Rena Jo) that often had to be pushed. Got lots of attention though from guys who wanted to drive it. Then there was the time that Dennis Turnbough and other Balmorhea boys turned Betty Brown's Volkswagen sideways between two cars at Al's with us in it. They finally moved it back so we could get out! That was good clean fun! Good memories of good friends and good times.

I could have lived on Texas Cream Pie from Fosters. I enjoy reading through these pages each day and I have been able to communicate with many other long, lost friends. Polly Nance, Margie Lucas, and I were like the Three Musketeers of Pecos. Now Polly and I are in touch again. We both still miss Margie.

Thanks again, Peggy! You made my idea come to life and you have touched many hearts!

From: "RAY BOULTER" boult@wcc.net

I am sure that I do not need to tell you how much I enjoy reading this section each day. Growing up in Pecos was a very nice way too start a life. And reading the Pecos Gab is an especially nice way to recall it.

I often think back to the Pecos that was my home in the 1950's. We did not have a Sonic drive in, but we had Al's drive in. We did not have a Wal Mart; but we had a Woolworth's and Ben's Spanish Inn. and Fosters' Restaurant. All of those structures are now gone, but the friendliness that was and still is Pecos, is now very evident in all of the comments which grace these pages.

Again I want to remind those ex-students who graduated in 1957 and are not already in communications with me to please send me an e-mail or snail mail address (that is mailing address or PO Box number to you who do not speak computer) and let me know where you are. I would love to hear from you. I will respond.

Subject: Class of 1967
Date: Thu, 22 Apr 1999 13:39:55 +0000
From: Robert Phillips ghsme@earthlink.net

Thanks for this great Pecos website! It's special to be able to be in contact with so many Pecos people and keep up with news from home. Thank you, Jim Ivy, for sharing this web address.

My name is Jane Davis Phillips, class of 1967, and I live in Littleton, Colorado, a small town in the south metro Denver area. My husband, Robert, is a pharmacist with Safeway, and I work part time for a mortgage company, after 15 years of teaching school. We have one daughter, Laura, age 14, who loves to draw and ice skates. She will be going to Littleton High School next year.

We want everyone to know that we live very close to the Columbine High School and are indirectly involved with this tragic situation. Laura knows students who attend the school and thankfully they are all fine. As I shared with family and friends when this all first happened, I hope our country sees this a a wake-up call for our kids, families and our culture. Although it is snowing outside and the mood is somber, the outpouring of help, concern, and love has been tremendous. I hope the world sees what good people do when such horrific circumstances happen. We must address the hate we see and experience in our culture --we must give our children hope for a more meaningful future!

I apologize for bringing this unpleasant news into this space, but we are getting calls and e-mail from all over and I want everyone to know we are fine. Please pray for the students, staff, and families of Columbine HS, and for all the students, teachers, and administrators in schools today.

' Colorado is a beautiful state and I am glad we have lived here for 12 years. Our e-mail address is ghsme@earthlink.net. We are so glad to be able to be in touch with Pecos again!

Subject: The Drag

From: CTaylo2050@aol.com

I read the gab about the drag...in 1979 we wheeled around Sonic. When I moved into Southern Indiana 15 years ago, we didn't have a Sonic. Last year, they built a couple here in Jeffersonville. I have been there a couple of times. However, the Sonic here doesn't have th appeal the Sonic in Pecos did!

I love hearing from you guys, keep sending me notes!

From: Robert Huckabee bobhuckabee@hotmail.com

Yes Peggy, Martha (Huckabee) Fleming and Becky (Huckabee) Sawyer are my sisters. I think you know they both live in Andrews.

Our folks moved to Pecos in 1945. They were: Willis H. (Bill) and Florene (Flo) Huckabee. Dad drilled many of the irrigation water wells in the Pecos valley and some of the municipal water supply wells for Pecos, just to name one of the hats he wore.

Mom owned a music store, played piano and organ at church and taught music in our home and she wore many aprons. They were active in many things so Martha, Becky and I had many friends. I guess everyone in Pecos knew everyone in Pecos.

It seemed like our house at 2227 So. Eddy was always the center of about four social activities at once, almost 24 hrs a day while we were growing up. It seemed that our drive-way was one end of "the drag" and Al's, of course, was the other end. Today the six "cousins"; My two kids, Becky's two kids and Martha's two kids, still think of Pecos as the home place and we all remember many good times and freinds there.

Greetings!! It's been a while since high school and for me it's been an adventure. I found this website recently and decided "What The _ _ _!", I'll see who's out there in CyberWorld. I live in San Antonio now, and we have "Fiesta" in full swing.

The weather out here is awesome year-round and there's always plenty of entertainment like the Spurs, Fiesta Texas, Sea World, minor league hockey and baseball. There are also annual events such as "Fiesta" ( one constant party in San Antonio for two weeks).

No, I don't work for the visitors bureau, I just really like this town. Since Aug. 1995 I have worked as a Manager for Red McCombs Automotive Super Center. I have always been a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan and for a while I have also enjoyed the San Antonio Spurs.

O.K., enough about me, lets here from you!

P.S.
Thanks, Pecos Enterprise for providing Class of 83 this forum.

Hmmm..... I suppose if I am going to speak up it should be about now, so that this will appear in the neighborhood of my sibling's e-mail. Bob Huckabee is my brother and Martha Huckabee Fleming is my sister.

My name is Becky (Huckabee) Sawyer. I graduated with the class of '64. I want to add my thanks to Peggy and all the staff at the Pecos Enterprise for providing this forum to get reacquainted with fellow Pecosites. I have enjoyed reading about many super people from my school years.

I was able to make a couple of class reunions and look forward to any possible furture reunions. I hope to hear from any class mates who might be checking in here.

Peggy:
Thanks!!!! The gab site is terrific! I am Robert Huckabee. I grew up in Pecos and left in 1962. I am enjoying seeing the connections and comments in your website. I still keep up with a few Pecos Pals. I have been in aviation, managing corporate flight departments, aircraft maintenance operations and flying most everything. I've lived in New Mexico, then back to Texas Lubbock, Harlingen, Sinton, Euless, Denton, Dallas, Irving, Sweetwater, Bronte, Ballinger and San Angelo. However, there is no place like Pecos was. That is one reason it is such a thrill to read the mail at Pecos Gab.

I am, at this time, vice president for a non-profit org just started to preserve Fort Chadbourne (a frontier fort established in Coke County Oct. 28, 1852). I think this will be a fun project. I'll bet Mrs. "B" would cringe at the thought of me being involved with anything historical.

Thanks again for the wonderful place to see our friends.

Hi Peggy & Pecos gabpage readers:

I just wanted to say hi and I am still enjoying reading this page. We have heard from many old friends, thanks to this forum. I am changing our email address (hopefully for the last time) to martha@mgben.com. I am about to cancel former the email account I last posted here, so hopefully this will intercept any correspondence anyone plans to send our way. Anyone can write or Larry & I both here.

We have passed on the word about this web site as we have come across Pecos folks. We hope to reunite in person with many old friends.

Thanks again for the idea and following through with it. I'm sure it is a lot of work, but we really do appreciate it.

Look forward to hearing from others.

Larry & Martha (Huckabee) Fleming

Hi, My name is Betty (Botello) Williams, I just came across this section by accident. I think it's a great idea! I often check out the Pecos Enterprise for news of what's going on back home. I moved away 6 years ago to Columbus Ohio, I was there last March 1998, Unforntunately for my father's funeral (Lupe Botello).I don't get to visit much, but I must say Pecos has changed! My mother still resides in good ol' Pecos. My brother Johnny and sisters Christina and JoAnn now reside in Monahans Tx. with their families. I didn't see anyone on here from the class of 1984, What happened? I did see my cousin Roy Botello. Hi Roy! How are you doing out in Florida?

Well if anyone recognizes my name or those of my siblings, drop me a line.

It's been awhile.

Hope to here from someone, See Ya!

Thank for answering my letter, My name is Norma Reyes and my mother name is Delma Munoz . My mother was born there in Pecos in 1951. She was there two week ago . She has lost contact with one of the oldiest cousin Reyes Munoz son of Mary Lara and Isable Munoz. I know that my great-grandmother Petronila Munoz is in a nursing home here in Pecos. Reason I am trying to locate this cousin he is the oldest of the grand children that Mr.& Mrs. Epifanio Munoz have.

If any one remember let me know . Thank Norma Reyes
