Peggy, I love this page!!! You are doing a great job. I would love to hear from "old" friends and ex-students of mine. As you know, Bob and I live in Big Spring now and are enjoying it very much, but do miss the "good old days " in Pecos. I am teaching part-time at Howard Community College and having a ball! I just wish I could have some of my Pecos students in my class.

I see Kristen Stewart from time to time. She seems to be doing well at HCC, but this is her last semester. Keep up the good work at the Pecos Enterprise.

Subject: Pecos Exes Gab Site
Date: Mon, 5 Apr 1999 23:13:11 EDT
From: Ndegan@aol.com

Hi Everyone! from Nancy Dean Egan.

Deanna Kay Holm Miller told me about this site - how neat to read all the emails! I graduated in 1962, and Deanna Kay and Gwen Wassom Phillips are really working to get our class caught up via email.

My brother Bobby graduated in 1958 and is still in Pecos, so he may have more recent news about former students. (Mother is still there, too, and just spent Easter with us in Dallas. She's doing OK for almost 83.) His email is bdean@usaonline.net. David (1970 (I think)) lives in Sydney, Australia. His email is david@chapdean.bu.aust.com. Mary Bird Dean Bowman (1972) is a CPA in Austin. Her email is mbbowman@io.com.

I've sent all of them the Pecos gab site, but know that we'd all love to hear from you.

From: winntn@postoffice.swbell.net

Hello from Tom and Nelroy Winn (Tommy Winn and Nelroy Griffin) class of 1958. We have been living in Fort Worth for over 30 years, and we are so excited about finding this site where we can once again meet some old friends from Pecos. We have been married for 40 years (yes, we married after we graduated in 1958) and have three children and 13 grandchildren (ranging in age from 18 to 5 years). We attended our 20th class reunion in 1978, missed the 25th in 1983, and have not heard about any more since then. We would love to do it again!

Tom is an Electronics Engineer at Lockheed Martin; Nelroy is a CPA serving as Compliance Officer at All Saints Health System; daughter Robin (38) is an RN and clinical computer analyst living in Azle TX; daughter Carol (37) is an RN, navy reserve nurse, and law school student in Houston; son Glen (35) is a LAN specialist, programmer, and general computer guru for Davis Software Inc. of Dallas, living in Plano.

We would love to hear from any of you. Our e-mail address is winntn@swbell.net. We keep up with Charlie and Doris (Nichols) Stubblefield, Horace and Betty (Dixon) Phillips, Kerry and Joyce (Smith) Franklin, Noel and Sandy Funderburk, Jim Walker, Don and Patsy (Herring) Powell, and Anna (Reynolds) Long. Nelroy's sister Margaret (class of '60, graduated in Lubbock) is married to Barney McCasland (class of '59). They dated in college and found each other again about 5 years ago. They currently live in Lubbock.

Let us hear from you!
Tom and Nelroy Winn

Subject: of interest to "old time" '49ers
Date: Fri, 2 Apr 1999 11:09:11 EST
From: TBEAUCH@aol.com

I had an interesting thing happen to me yesterday: A lady whom I have known here for many years, came into my office with an elderly lady. She said " Tommy, I want to introduce you to my aunt - Armeata Harsfield." I gave my usual "Howdy Doo's". Then she added "she was your first grade teacher!" MISS RAGSDALE???? Yes Miss Ragsdale!

Some of you old timers who were part of the FIRST first grade in Pecos Elementary may remember her. After sharing some memories and names, I told her I sure remember how many times she had spanked my hand with her ruler. To which she replied - "yes, you and Buddy Ross!!" How she connected me with a mean kid like Buddy Ross, I'll never know.

If any of you old bunch would like to send her a note or message, let me know and I will get you her address, or you can relay it thru me.

On another note - We (my brother Ted, sister Teri, and all grandkids) are going to have a celebration of our mothers 85 birthday on April 24. Her birthday is the 23rd but we are having a surprise party the 24th. If anybody would like to attend, or send her a rememberance of a note, letter or pictures, let me know at this e-mail address, or at 2612 W. Twohig, San Angelo 76901, for snail mail. NO gifts from anyone please. Just a note.

Thanks for this outlet Enterprise!

It is really great hearing from friends that we have lost track of and thanks to Peggy for this forum and her work.

From: Mike Allison erastus@nwol.net

This recent addition to the Pecos Paper indicates the importance people are to it's publication. Good improvement. Would be interested to hear from anyone who graduated in class of 1936 or 1937. Also anyone else who use to live in Pecos but after the War Years now live elsewhere.

Complete local coverage of news, keep it up.

Pecosite forever,

Note new e-mail address

FYI in case you missed the news item

___Virus Rampage Continues___ Reports streamed in yesterday of companies inundated with the virus named Melissa, which sneaks into computer systems as a macro attachment bearing the subject header "Important Message" and then fires off 50 infected E-mail messages to recipients named in the end user's address book.

Carnegie Mellon University's Computer Emergency Response Team, which first posted an alert about the virus yesterday, said Melissa had already hit at least 100,000 personal computers by mid-Monday. Companies reporting problems with the virus yesterday included the Associated Press, Compaq, Honeywell, and Lockheed Martin. Late last week, antivirus vendor Network Associates Inc. said it heard from 80 companies hit by the bug.

The virus, which can slow E-mail transmissions to a crawl by inundating the mail server with outgoing messages, made its way into Microsoft on Friday, and IT personnel there reportedly had to stop outgoing E-mail service to find a fix for the problem. Since then, everyone from CNN to the FBI have issued warnings about opening attachments contained in E-mails with similar subject headers. Unless the attachment is actually opened, the macro reportedly won't be invoked. If it is opened, CERT says, the virus apparently doesn't affect a user's hard drive or the memory on the computer.

What a great idea!! I'm Marilyn Wheelis Lowery and Marie, my twin, told me about the page which she found through our brother, Mike. I am living in the Dallas area, while Marie is in Phoenix and Mike in Payson. The Wheelis' are scattered but still very close. For those of you that were remembering teachers, I know that I speak for the family when I say Mr. Carrico was the greatest.

Peggy: Have really enjoyed reading the paper and all the info in the Exes section since I found it a few weeks ago. My mother, who lives here in San Angelo now, usually gets a big batch of papers about 2 or 3 months after the fact, from Judy Weinacht, who gets them from some other friend. By the time they get to me, they are well read! Since I found the Web site, I read most of the news daily, and print up part of it to take to her. I especially enjoy the Exes section, even tho most of the writeins are of a much later grad. date than we are.

Thank you,
