The more I read on these pages the more I am certain that one of the joys in life is to visit with friends who attended Pecos High School.

Over the years I have attended some of my class reunions and have missed some. I was so busy making a living that I forgot to stop and smell the roses. Well believe me I now spend a lot of time in this rose garden called life. IN 1997 at the reunion for the class of 57 I had the privilege of getting reacquainted with some of the most special people in the world.

More than that I got to visit and get reacquainted with one of these special people, Larry Sherrill who passed away several months later. The reunion also allowed me to visit by phone with another very special person before he passed away; Wayne Doggett. Folks, life is too short not to visit with old friends. Because of these experience I have learned to treasure each friend, Old and New (speaking strictly of time and not age).

Since the reunion I have spent some time searching for those classmates who did not make the reunion and who we could not find addresses for.

My wife is Jo Ann Pouns whose Dad, Joe B. Pouns was the Editor for the Pecos Enterprise for many years. Again let me say thank you everyone who had anything to do with this great idea to have a place for Pecos students to get together.

If you know of anyone who graduated in the years around 1957 please give them this web site address and send me a note, I would love to visit with you. I have already found a good friend from long ago who I have not seen for many years.

These people attended the 97 reunion;
The Graduating Class of 1957 met for a 40 year reunion at Indian Lodge in Ft. Davis on September 5, 6 & 7. Thirty class members attended and 60 or more were in total attendance (spouses & friends included.)

Class members attending were Mildred Willborn Wright, Betty Webb Hinson, Jan Shirley Knox, Barbara Freeman Cook, Deanna Freeman Kahn, Demaris Brush Strube, Dick Toll, Karen Holder Rolan, Arlene Bowie Hill, Carolyn McGrew Ormond, Linda Alexander Chism, Roy Verb Baker, Jackie Wood Rowland, Lavonia Nelson, Horace Phillips, Joe Bob Wells, Ray Boulter, Loyce Joplin Brown, Malta Martin Lusk, Beverly Watts Morrison, Ann Paxton Etheredge, Malcom Payne, Larry Sherrill, Jim Fox, Carolyn Young Williams, Nancy Bell Willman, Norma Eisenwine Payne, Charlene Fletcher Hayes, Nancy Miller Budowski and Barbara Wheelis Nelson.

Guest attending were Dote Wright, Earl Hinson, Norman Hill, Camille Cleveland Gilbert, Betty Phillips, Melody Wells, Jo Ann Boutler, Randy Brown, Cliff Rolan, Alden Etheredge, Jeanette Payne, Dixie Sherrill, Joyce Fox, Ann Wheelis Niese, Mary and Leland Casey, Johnny and Marlene Cook, Shirlyn Mitchell, Joe Chism, David and Rachel Miller and Shirley Baker.

Always,

From: Cliff Miller joyjoy@cyberramp.net

I was so touched by Joy Brown Ray's comments about Pecos. It is so true that a huge number of Pecos grads went on to live fruitful and successful lives because of the terrific values we were given and shared being raised there. We owe so much to our families and each other and mostly to God and our various churches for giving us so much grounding for our lives.

God also gave us a set of the finest teachers there have ever been...the Kelleys, Mrs. Turk, Mrs. Shepherd, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. Van Horn, Mrs. B(8th grade History)....just to name a few. I was also very privileged to have Mary Rogers (recently deceased) and Beverly Vaughn Fabrigel to teach me piano the whole time I was there. But none of this would have been as great had it not been for Bill Carrico, who gave most all of us the will and discipline to always give our finest! It is truly phenominal what he gave us! I am sure that we are all thankful to the middle of our being for it all......I do admit that I have to give myself demerits from time to time! God Bless You all! Will look forward to hearing from any of you at this e-mail address at any time!

I cannot believe I found this just now. I have been opening this up every day to read the paper to Mother, Irene Holm, who lives near me in the Metroplex........and I just found this! I scrolled down and read almost everything to her. This is so exciting......THANK YOU PEGGY!!!!

As I have already told you, I am constantly in touch with Gwen, Deanne, and Toressa (Baker) Kilgore......and several others on a more limited basis. We are all from the Class of '62.....there are others from whom we would love to hear. I will send you any addresses I may have.

From: JGuerin@swlink.net (Jan Guerin)

Hello! My name is Jan Reagan Guerin & I am a 62 PHS graduate who has lived in Phoenix the last 32 yeas. I would really enjoy hearing from any of my classmates because there has never been an abundance of PHS alumini in the AZ area & since my family moved from Pecos, I've lost track of many people I knew.

Please e-mail me at JGuerin@swlink.net. My sister alerted me to the Pecos Gab & we both think it is a wonderful idea.

From: "Cervantes, Rosa" rcervantes@s-line.com

Is anyone out there from the class of 86 (before and after)?

My name is Rosa Rubio-Cervantes, but at the time I went by my nick-name, Lupita. My family is still in Pecos, but I really don't see anyone while I'm there visiting.

I attended our 10 yr. reunion, which turned out GREAT! I'm looking forward to our 20 yr. reunion and hope more people attend.

It would be great to hear from some old friends. My e-mail address: rcervantes@s-line.com

Hello to my Aunt Rosie & Peggy at The Pecos Enterprise.

From: mckeownm@cmaa.org

It's really great to find this web sight and I hope to catch up with all of you I haven't seen in some years.

I live in Pass Christian, Mississippi, which is on the Gulf Coast. I am the General Manager of the Gulfport Yacht Club. I married Kim Adams Newcomer from Corpus Christi while I was the Clubhouse Manager at the Corpus Christi Yacht Club.

Since leaving Pecos, and graduating from SWT, I've lived in several places, hopefully settling here(although this line of work all but requires relocation for advancement). I've been in touch regularly with Ken Winkles and Alvin New, and off and on with Jim McKinney (he's also a club manager). But I'd really like to hear from all of you with whom I grew up--especially members of the class of '81.

I missed the 10-year reunion but am fired up about the 20th. If someone is organizing it and I can help, please let me know.

That's all for now. I can't wait to hear from you.

My sister in law told me about the gab web site the other day. This is so so cool. I am Louise "Weezie" Fleming with the class of 73/74. Hi Wade & Becky, Mary Ella, Joy, Jim & Julie! I have been living in Dallas for about 12 years and am currently working for a consulting firm downtown. I am Weezie to family and friends and use the name Louise only for business. I live with someone who has a 12 year old son, so we are very busy with basketball, soccer and football.

This site really brings back a lot of memories and so exciting to hear what everyone else has been doing and where they are living. I cannot believe I graduated 25 years ago. I don't feel as wise as I would expect to be after 25 years.

Does anyone have Kim Ashley's email address? Would love to hear from her.

Dear Mrs. McCracken,

I don't know if you will remember me. My name is Shelly. I worked at the Pecos Enterprise in 1988 and 1989, while attending Pecos High School. (I graduated May 1989.) I recently got access to the internet and decided to see if there would be any information about my alma mater. I was excited to see your web site.

My family and I moved away in the fall of 1989. My father, Charly Mann, was the manager of Wal-Mart at the time, and my mother, Gloria Mann, worked in the county auditor's office. Everyone at the newspaper was so supportive of me, and even held a going away party for me when I went off to San Angelo State. I don't think I ever took the time to let you know how much that kindness meant to me.

So, thank you! (10 years later) and God Bless you all.

Love,
Shelly Larson

I was told that Martha Huckabee (maiden name) was looking for Dennis Davis, class of 1966. He is alive and well in Brandon, Mississippi. If additional info is needed, let me know. Is there going to be a "get together" for this group?

Peggy,

I just thought I'd say thanks again for this website and information exchange.

I found my old college room mate. We had not had any contact since the spring of 1968. What is even more remarkable is that he was from Monahans. His mom happened to see the Enterprise the day you ran my enrty, and had him call me from South Carolina. Thank you so much.

I saw a mention of a Wadley girl who is now married to someone named McCracken. Is that David by any chance?

Jim

(Editor's note: No, that McCracken is my husband's cousin. Peggy)
