Can you possibly help me? I am looking for information regarding a gentleman named W. C. Jackson. Mr. Jackson was the county attorney for Pecos County in 1927 and was a county judge in 1945. While I am certain that Mr. Jackson is deceased, I need to know if his law firm or descendant thereof still exists. I am researching a 1935 lawsuit in Pecos County in which W. C. Jackson represented the plaintiffs. The suit was tried in the 112th District Court under the judgeship of a Joe Montague (sic). Wm.

Thanks to Jimmy Smith I have a last name of the woman I am seeking information about. Could anyone add to this? I believe she is no longer with Don Collins, I saw him in 82 or 83 and I think they were divorcing. I was in junior high, so I could be remembering the wrong information.

Thanks Robbye Lydick daughter of Patsy Herring, class of '59. (now Powell)

I'm looking for information on a woman who graduated in 1959. She had red hair and her married name was Collins. Robbye Mc ????. She was in the band and may have been a drum major. She was best friends with my mother, Patsy (Herring), and I bear her name. Happen to be red-headed, so mom stretched herself out there. I'd like to hear memories of her. I've always been curious.

Please pray for my mom, Marie Brown again. She recently suffered a severe stroke. She is not expected to recover. I know that so many of you knew Mom and spent a lot of time growing up at our home on Fifth Street. Hal and Marie Brown gave all they could to Pecos and Barstow. Gee, they gave the school system 6 kids to endure! I will let everyone know how Mom is doing. She is in a hospital in El Paso.

From: "Greg Anderson"

Hi to all my fellow classmates from the class of 1971. It's hard to believe nearly 30 years have passed since we graduated...and they have passed quickly. During those 30 years, I graduated from Texas Tech, joined the Texas Highway Patrol, was a Special Agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, graduated from law school, and then became a federal prosecutor. I have fond memories of my high school years and all the friends I made there. Pecos was a great place to grow up as a kid. My wife, Janet, and I live in San Antonio and I've been with the U.S. Attorney's Office as a criminal prosecutor for the past 14 years....we have three dogs (our girls). My wife grew up in San Antonio, so I guess this will probably be home for us. My mother passed away about three years ago. Kim lives in her house and teaches science at Pecos High School. I'd love to hear from my friends.....my e-mail address is grega_sa@usa.com . Hope to hear from you soon.

From: "Mike Rhodes" rhodessm@earthlink.net

I have enjoyed reading about familiar friends and memories of Pecos. Our family wouldnt exchange the years and memories we had with friends and students my wife and I had the opportunity to teach. We lived in Pecos from 83-90, my wife Teri taught 3rd grade at Austin Elem. and later at Pecos Elem. I taught at Pecos HS and coached JV football and was the boys basketball coach. I wouldnt trade the teams and the players I had there for those in other places. I have always taken pride in the fact that I coached in Pecos and have continued to be proud of the Eagles as the compete today inspite of the fact that I am now in Andrews. I enjoy getting to occasionally go back to Pecos. My kids our growing up, Jamye is a junior in high @AHS and is playing volleyball and runs track. My son Rett is in 8th grade and plays football and basketball. I gives me a lot of pride to hear of your successes and your fond memories of a town that has been such a positive experience for so many of us.

First off thanks to all the people that set up Pecos Gab. My name is Paul Meek, and I grew up in Pecos, but have called the San Angelo area home for about 15 years. I have been married to Cinda "Reynolds" Meek for a little over 13 years, (and ya'll said it wouldn't last, and "ya'll" know who you are ) and have three daughters Ashleigh (12), Lindsay (9), and Leighanna (6)! My mom retired from the school and moved here as did my brother Charles move to Angelo. We've run across several people on the Gab that we know and are slowly writing to those, so if you see this drop us a line as well. If any one knows the whereabouts of any of the classmates of 77 or Cinda's class of 87 please let us know. I'll leave it at this for now. Take care everyone.

P.S. Hey Peggy is little Peg still as ornery as always? =;-)> (Answer: Yes)

All our best.

Hello to everyone...We are Leslie and Betty Smith, and we lived in wonderful Pecos from 1966 to 1978, where Leslie served as pastor of First Baptist Church.

Peggy, we wrote to PecosGab July, 1999, and since writing, have heard from so many Pecosites (present & former). It's been so refreshing, and we are grateful for the Enterprise and YOU, Peggy, making possible this web site.

We retired in 1994, and moved from San Antonio to Arlington, TX. Our new email address is betles@yahoo.com and we'd love to hear from folks there and about.

Our two daughters, Debra and Sharon (they were "Smiths" when we lived there) have been to their reunions in Pecos since we left, and thoroughly enjoyed them and really appreciate the PecosGab site !

Keep up the good work, Peg--you were always such a help to everyone when we lived there & it's good to see that spirit continuing !

Arlene Bowie Hill
1939 - 2001

She was born in 1939 on January 1st. in Pecos Texas. She was raised, schooled, fell in love, married Norman Hill, had four children and loved all of them in Pecos Texas. She passed away in Pecos, Texas. She did not claim world fame, she did not go off to foreign places or change world events. Yet when she passed from this world an entire church was filled with those who lives she had touched. There was no empty pews and no space left for someone to stand. Pecos lost a special daughter and the world lost one more still small voice, but Heaven gained an Angel. Her smile was described as the Smile of an Angel and her love for family & friends was as close to what the Bible describes as a perfect love as we as mortals will ever know.

I am honored to have called her my friend. Thank you Norman, Craig, Gary, Debbie and Conda and all of your family for allowing me to have known her. We will miss her!

Hello, my name is Shane Allen and I'm trying to do some research on La Linda Mexico. I have been able to find very little information concerning this "hamlet". What was the major industry there and why has the bridge been blockaded? Also, it seems strange that there is a phone on the US side at the bridge - I can only assume that is so that you can call that one house on the other side for something? One can only guess?? Also, what is known about the church that is seen in the distance.

Thanks....

I just wanted to say thank you to all of my friends and former students who have been so kind to email me. Unfortunately, my computer guru nephew (Harvard graduate), in trying to make my computer more efficient a couple of months ago, deleted all of my previous messages and my address book.

In order to be less irritated with him, I would appreciate hearing from all of you again asap so that I can recreate a NEW address book. I will also try to make this one nephew proof!

The past year has been a difficult one. As most of you know, our precious daughter, Melissa, died at the age of 20 in 1988 from a very short bout with acute leukemia. Last April 4 (2000), my sweet husband, Bill, also died from a sudden and very unexpected heart attack. To lose anyone you love is difficult, but to lose your entire family is almost unbearable. I am grateful for the wonderful memories I have and many of you are included in those....

Hearing from so many of you has certainly been a joy and has helped me to deal with my grief. It is a treat to hear from friends and students and I certainly do not want to lose this luxury by something as insignificant as a lost email address book. SO PLEASE LET ME HEAR FROM YOU ASAP so that I can begin the task of recreating my address book.

Thank you for keeping in touch.

Jack White told me about this site. It's great to see so many names of people I know from Pecos. I'm a little curious about one message I read, though. Apparently Kitty Gunn is the principal of a prison???

As for me, I left Pecos soon after graduation going into the military. After that, I wound up in the Chicago area for two years working at nuclear power plants (bummer job). I work at the same place Jack does, the Odessa Police Department, and have for twenty-one years. Also teach part time at Odessa College. I regualrly see Danny Bailey, who is a department head there. Graduate of University of Texas with a BA and some graduate work. Married with two kids, one in college (broke again). Kinda looking forward to retirement in a few years.

I really look forward to hearing from old classmates. I get to see quite a few of the old bunch here in Odessa, mostly under good circumstances.

In his memory there is an award given "Doc Lunday Sportsmanship Award" to a senior boy for sportmanship. He always thought what was in your heart and what you put into the game was more important than winning.

I just wanted to say congratulations to anyone that has ever received this award. The Lunday family doesn't know who gets it - so if anyone who has ever received this award reads this we would like to hear from you.
