From: "JR and Eve Roberts"

Hello from South America,

Just a quick family update. We moved to Santa Cruz, Bolivia last August. I teach computer classes at the Santa Cruz Christian Learning Center. I am considered a "missionary" because all of the teachers at the school are self-supported. The school is primarily for missionary kids. About 51% are MK's and the others are Bolivian. (FYI-We need teachers.)

The country is fine and the people are great. We live in a very beautiful city and it is fairly modern for the most part.

J.R.'s job brought us here and we will be here for a minimum of three years. Rebecca is picking up the Spanish quickly and I am even learning!

That is it in a "nutshell". By the way, I've lost contact with most of the class of 1975. Is Debbie Herrera still in Pecos?

Hope you all have a great 2001!

Love in Christ,
Eve

From: "Buddy Bryan"

Hello from the Big town of Pecos. My name is Buddy Bryan class of 55 just visiting this site again and getting a big kick out of all this, thinking i might put my two cents in here and let everyone know i`m still alive and playing with the posies here in the nursery in the big city.

Curious to know if there is anyone still out there from our class. I have kept in contact with one, Louis Ivey, had lunch with him December 30, 2000. He is doing good and living in Jamiaca, working with the Fed and playing with the livestock.

We are planning on getting back together in October when he retires (i`m not ready to retire, but will vacation). Will go to The Devils River to lounge on pontoon boat to fish for awhile and stay in fifth wheel camper to chat about old times. Would like to hear from old friends contact either Louis, livey@jol.com.jm, or me at budbryan@nwol.net.

I have gotten such a kick out of reading all of your E-mail to this site (Thanks Peggy}. It brings back so many memories. I would have graduated with the class of 57 had I not joined the Army in 56. I am grateful in having a big sister and little brother that were in the Pecos school system so that many of the names from the mid 50's thru the early 60's are familiar to me. I live in the Houston area (Texas City) and I work for a newspaper publishing company. I also do desktop publishing and photo restoration on the side. Since leaving Pecos I have lived in Southern Calif., Kansas, Illinois, and now back in Texas. I have been very busy lately E-mailing all of the old friends I have found on this site. If I have missed any of you, please send me a hello. My E-mail address is m2mcpeak@aol.com

Subject: Christmas & New Year 2001
Date: Fri, 29 Dec 2000 08:54:48 -0600
From: "RAY BOULTER"

Let me first repeat the message that I see so much on this site. Thank you Pecos Gab for keeping old friends in touch and renewing friendships that seem to silently drift apart as the years pass.

I pray that each of you had a Merry Christmas and will have an exciting and fruitful New Year 2001.As for our Christmas 2000:

There is nothing In this world as magic as a two year old and a Christmas Tree at 6:30 a.m. in the morning. Unless of course it is a twelve year old young lady who is so excited that she is up at 4:55 a.m. standing beside her Grandma's bed whispering at the top of her lungs, "Grandma, Grandma, Grandma, are you awake? and in that time nothing can describe the very deep subject matter that passes between a young lady and her grandma. Deep dark secrets are exchanged and her deepest thoughts are exposed concerning 'N' Sync, boys, mothers and father's and their shortcomings and grandparents love, etc.

The center piece of any Christmas day is the wondrous dinner that is prepared. As I get up from a wonderful Christmas Dinner I am wondering if life can get any better. Of course eating with a two year old is an adventure however you look at it. Of course he eats much better when he is walking around the table and getting a bite of this a bite of that from each person at the table. The fact that he is perfectly willing to spit any thing back at you that he does not like is only to be expected. So beware if you try to stick some "healthy" Ugg, spit, foot onto the food he likes. Grandparents think this kind of behavior is funny (of course it is the same behavior that your daughter or sons can remember being scolded for when they were children.)

Our Twelve year old going on twenty year old and our two year old grandchildren have come down to spend two days with us and we are overjoyed. I pray that this time is as special to each of you as it is for Jo Ann and I. We look forward to the coming year and the as yet undiscovered adventures that lay ahead.

If you are a member of the class of 1957 and do not receive a newsletter please contact me for information concerning the 1957 class reunion in September.

In Christian Love

From: Martin Gomez mgomez@SPC.cc.tx.us

Just got back to Lubbock from an extended stay in Pecos (5 days). Couldn't get back to Lubbock because of the ice and snow. We still have a lot of snow on the ground here. I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with my family and what little time I got to spend with friends, there is never enough time to see everyone.

While in Pecos, I got to see Eric, Darryl and Eddy Scott, first time all three of us have gotten together for 15 years or better and we did it without DPS chasing my old Mustang. Also got to see some of the greatest Christmas decorations, especially the old Chevy on Oleander.

Hope everyone has a Happy New Year.

From: David Wallace jsnwal@uswest.net

Hello Pecos friends,

Born and raised in Pecos, I graduated in 1957. Thanks to Ray Boulter, our class is getting together on the Internet fairly well.

In reading these notes I learned that I am not the only Pecos person in Washington State. We live in Eastern Washington, north of Spokane and just a few miles west of the Idaho Panhandle and a few miles south of the Canadian border of British Columbia. We are ranching on a quarter horse ranch where we have almost 200 horses. We are in the mountains and forests, north of the wheat fields around Spokane. A major quarter horse show and sale is going on now in Fort Worth. My boss is there now showing, buying, and selling some of our horses. Fort Worth is about the hub of our industry, but we are a bit north and west of that hub.

We had a major snowstorm today. Its not unusual for us to get 10 feet or so of snow through a winter. I have gotten used to the cold weather, since I am out working in it every day. However, it is not as cold as Chicago where I lived between 1963 and 1983. Growing up in Pecos, I never understood how people could live in northern, cold climes. Now I know! We cut (and burn) wood early and often.

My parents were John and Sadie Wallace of the Pecos Funeral Home. My father died in 1968. Mom was 95 last month and lives in Boone, Iowa. My sister, Sara, PHS '61, lives in Chicago. My brothers Lauren Hobbs and John Wallace Jr. graduated way before Sara and me. They are older than the Davis Mountains. They introduced cantaloupes to the Pecos Valley. They were there before the Pecos River cuts its way across West Texas to the Rio Grande. So I don't remember when they graduated, but I believe it was before public schools were established in West Texas.

I remember Mrs. Turk, Mrs. Shepherd and Mr. Carrico, and Coach Matthews well. Coach Weldon Bogus called me a few months ago. That was a really enjoyable, and unexpected, conversation. I appreciated his kind words for our class.

Dick Toll, another who was born and raised in Pecos, and graduated with me, lives in the Portland, Oregon area. We visited him a couple of years ago where he pastors an Episcopal Church. He had fun telling my sons about my old girl friends and showing them our PHS '57 album. They marveled at what a handsome, athletic, cultured guy their father was in his youth.

My wife, Cheryl, and I have three sons: Joshua, 14; Stephen, 12; and Noah, 9. She is from St. Louis. She always dreamed about living around horses and on a ranch. Though she has never experienced a West Texas dust storm. My boys know they are special in living on the ranch. They ride everything and drive anything on the ranch. They do well with the horses and enjoy halter breaking the weanlings. Joshua shows buyers the horses when the owner is out of town. He knows all of them, much better than the rest of us.

God bless all of you in/from/near Pecos,

David Wallace

Greetings,

This is really fun to read...however, I haven't read too much of my vintage. (I graduated in 1954...Anne Glasscock...and went on to TCU.) I married a naval officer (his home state Montana). With the Navy we went everywhere...overseas and several states of the USA. We lived for 16 yrs. in Santa Barbara. CA., following retirement from the Navy.

We have just moved into our retirement home in Escondido, CA. and we love it. We have two sons; one a loan officer for Wells Fargo in San Diego and the younger one a sports journalist for a newspaper in Louisiana. Life has been very good to us and we feel ever-so-fortunate.

Hallo Everybody;

This is Hiram Reyes, class of 76', Just wanted to let everyone know that I am a proud father of two boys who are both playing football for the Canadian Wildcats. We are still in the play-offs, we beat Lockney, Tx last week in Bi-District. Now we play Albany, Tx, this coming friday.

I remember the year that Pecos went almost all the way in the fall of 75'. That year we had such players as Randy Reynolds, Ronny Jenkins, Robert Avila, and little bear playing nose-guard. Jose Navarette. Boy what a year!

Back to my boys, they are Nathan Reyes who has a good shot at making All-State and my other son Isaac who has a good chance of making All-District. Boy what a year! Who would have ever thought that I would have any atheletes in my offspring?

I hope somebody writes to me from Pecos or just anywhere. My E-Mail address is as follows buster_reyes@hotmail.com

See Ya Later, and have a happy thanksgiving!

Subject: is there a web page for the class of 1971 reunion?

I wondered if there was a web page for the class of 1971. Is someone the contact for the 30 year reunion? Let me know. I know about the 50s, 60s, 70s reunion in Dallas this summer, but is there some planning for the Pecos reunion?

Oh, if you want a hoot. Those who remember me look at www.customservices.ws to see my 10 month old GRANDDAUGHTER, Jessica.

Thank you,
Pat Chesney class of '71

Hello, I attended Pecos High School back in the Seventies. It seems like a long time ago, maybe because it is a loooooong time ago. Anyway I found out by keeping in touch with the news that not only are the Pecos Eagles in the Playoffs, but they are holding the first round of the Playoffs in Pecos. This is something that the team and the whole town of Pecos should be proud of. I congratulate you.

It sure does brings a lot of memories when we where playing in the mid seventies. The Pecos Eagles at that time where a team to contend with. The 1975 Eagles missed the playoffs with having only one lose in district play. That lose unfortunately came when we played the Monahans Lobos. They also had one lose in district play, making them and the Eagle District Co-Champions. But because we lost to them they represented district.

The following year after I graduated the 1976 Pecos Eagles not only became the District Champs, but went on to within one win of going to state. I know for a fact that some of those 1976 Eagles are now proud parents of today's 2000 Pecos Eagle that play Friday. And I know for a fact that every member of today's 2000 Eagles team has a proud parent that will be there when the coin is tossed. I wish them, the players and the whole town of Pecos good luck and God Bless.
