Some of these letters are really something, bringing
back many good memories.
See if any of these things/people excite your memory:
Al's Burger Bar, A. R. Elliott's Malt Shop, The Grand
Theater, The Cactus
Theater, The pool hall and Stud Carter, drive in
theaters, blueberry hill,
going to school at the old air base while a new junior
high was being built,
when cotton was king, football games, snake dances and
pep rallies down town.
How about coach Howard Lumbley, L. R. Hudson, Creamy
McCree, Fred Sitton,
Buck Jackson, Mrs. McIlvain, Edna Withers, Toby and
Ollie Hannah, Rev. W. M.
Turner, Rev. Glen Edwards?
Good stuff, right?

Reunions and old friends

HFoster846@aol.com
I've recently discovered this web page and, after
scanning it, am amazed at
the response. I even read one from someone older than
I (Wayne Joplin). My
wife (the once Faye Hammett) and I (Harry Foster, Jr.)
were in the class of
1951 and have tried to keep reasonable contact with
Pecos. We still have some
dear friends there.
And speaking of reunions, Mickie Buchanan (class of
'50) is planning one for
next year, probably in June. Those of you in or near
that class should stay
in touch with this web page.
Then in 2001, our class will be having it's 50th. Both
of these reunions will
include classes preceding and following those years.
It really is nice to hear people recall the earlier
years in Pecos. I have
too many fond memories to try to list them here but,
they include Pecos High
School, Automotive Proving Grounds (where I worked for
25 years), Fosters
Restaurant (where I ate forever), the golf course, and
many, many, many
friends. Hello to all of you.
'Til later...............

I'm trying to update the address list for the
class of 1972. If you
haven't contacted me yet, I would appricate hearing
from you. I'm looking
for mailing addresses and phone numbers to update our
listings. I am not
going to publish this information on the Web, but will
have it in a
spreadsheet form that I can e-mail to any
requesting a copy.
Check out our Class of 72 web site at:

I haven't updated the pages lately but the e-mail
addresses there should be
current. We currently have about 27 class members
listed and hope to add
more soon.
I look forward to hearing from you all soon,
and those that have
checked in, spread the word.

Hello from the Midwest (where we have the heat of
Pecos and the humidity of
San Antonio.... just like being back in Texas, except
I'd kill to see a pair
of boots more than 3 years old!! Lotsa wannabees up
here! )
Anyway, guess since "My Mama" is still part of the
team that created this
forum, I feel obligated to tell the Pecos Enterprise
what a great deal it
is. Everybody write in quick and say Peggy's great so
they'll give her a
raise.... she's not as young as she used to be (though
she's still gorgeous)
and I can't afford to keep her in fruit if she
retires. Ok, so nobody who
doesn't still live in town will understand that
one....
Anyway, here I am, stuck in St. Louis where my dear
mother has to express
mail me real tamales and they don't know that chicken
enchiladas are supposed
to be green.... and I'd love to hear from all the
people I've personally lost
track of.... but I'm enjoying reading everyone else's
posts, too.
It's a great idea, Ma, thanks.

This site is a great idea. I graduated from Pyote, Tx
in 1963 and then
we all thought Pecos was many many miles away from
us.(smile) We have
all school reunions every three years, but in this
computer age, Pecos
Gab is great for keeping in touch. Is there anyone
out there in Pecos

the Barstow gym,

If there are any

I join the United States Air Force in Aug 71. After
leaving Pecos I went
to Lackland AFB Basic Training. After that I have had
the following
assignments.
Moody AFB, Georgia (2 yrs), Biloxi, Ms, Taiwan
Republic of China (18

I retired from the USAF in Nov 1993 and tried to make
a living in
Abilene, Texas, move town was to small. I tried
Midland, Texas, move
not my style. I attended the Federal Law Enforcement
Training Center in
Georgia. I am now working as a Federal Officer in
San Antonio. The
times that I have being to Pecos in between
assignments I do not
recognized anybody anymore. Would like to hear from
the old gang.
During my travels I have learned that it is good to be
bilingual. But I
still remember the times that we used to get ruler
spank for speaking
Spanish in school. It's a crazy world we are living
in. To all the
young people, try to learn both languages it will help
you in life and
career. It does matter what color you are, language
have no barriers, if
you can communicate with other cultures.

Best reunion I've ever crashed or been to. Everyone was having so much fun NOBODY wanted to leave the party.
What a tremendous effort. The class of '70 really has its work cut out for them to compete with the trouble I know
you went to. Kathy Hannah......great stuff, and Cynthia Armbruster....and everyone else that helped....GREAT
JOB.
Jane Maney (Hamilton), Susan Driver (Browder) and myself had a great time and it was so good to see
everyone again.
Some people never change....Mary Bechtel....still crazy as ever and too much fun.
Dennis Worsham should win the entertainment prize...boy......can that man dance.
Even though I
am not in your class, you should really be proud of what you accomplished. Bridget Durkel took
the Al's replica...(remember Al's).
Just thought some applause should be expressed to
everyone that helped!!!!!
Special Note to Pat Hubbs....hope your trip to Colorado was wonderful.....you are loved, missed
and thought of often.
Only in Pecos, is the 4th of July really THE 4TH OF JULY.
I will be back in Pecos for the wedding of Gail and Hugh Box's daughter. Hope to see some
of you that I missed last time.
Would love to hear from any of you when you get a chance.

I thought Pecos melted!
HEY YOU GUYS! How's it going? I may know where a few
people are, let's
see....! I was turned on to the gab from my brother,
some of you might
remember him, Jerry Hardwick (Class of '82). He is
living in Fort
Stockton (didn't get too far out of Pecos yet), and
has two children,
boy 4 and girl 14. My sister Jessie Hardwick (Class of
'83) is living in
Midland with her Fiance and two boys (ages 12 and 6).
I (Jackie) am
living in Fort Worth and work for a Transportation
Consultant Company
next to DFW Airport. I have a 9 year old daughter
(last name Matsinger,
of Mike Matsinger). And for you "older" Pecos
generation, my cousin Tom
is married to Lisa Walker (Vines), lives in Comstock
and Mike (Mouse)
Hardwick lives in Del Rio, is single and working
steadily. Bobby
Blanchard also lives in Fort Stockton and is doing
well.
Being the class of '84, some of you might remember
from Junior High
(Crockett) that another cousin of mine Jamie
Leffingwell used to live in
Pecos. She is married, has 4 kids and lives in
Stephenville, Tx.
I see Robert Sharp a lot, for the most part, and just
got word that
Jason McMahan moved here from Midland. Robert's
sister, Tammy Sharp,
lives in Midland with her husband and their son.
Shanna Lindemann
(Mooneyham) (sinced divorced) lives in Odessa with her
boyfriend and her
two kids (daughter and son) and is a nurse. Russell
Poer and Terry
Kilcrease live here too, but I'm sure you figured that
out from reading
Jason's mail. (Hey Jason, if you read this, give me a
call. I want to go
to the lake too!) I know many others from Pecos live
in the Metroplex,
although I am not sure the exact whereabouts, so if
some of you live in
the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area, write and say hello.
Hope all of you are doing well. Let's get some '84
greats back in the
swing of things. I didn't go to the 10 year reunion,
but hope to see you
at the next one. Take care, keep the spirit.

Hey everyone.
Glad to see that Pecos invested in a computer finally.
:) Looks like
all of the 84 graduates have dissappeared. I moved
back to Dallas
again from Midland (due to the #$%@ing oil market) and
do not plan on
going back. I will go back only to see my two
handsome young boys
Mitchell (7) and Dylan (5). They wore my out the last
few months with
baseball and soccer for both, no time for Dad to
play...just go, go,
go.
Staying with Terry Kilcrease and his lovely wife
Gina for a little
while till I purchase a couple of check cashing vans.
It will be a
great investment and should tie me up till I get tired
of working for a
living. I tried it in 88 and never followed through
with it. Awesome
potential here in big "D". Working for U.S. Sprint
right now running
computers (Robotics Dept.) till the other comes
through in about a
month or so.
I see Russell Poer all time now. We all
go to Lake
Texoma every weekend where Terry and Gina have bought
a trailer.
Already had the boat, why not a house to put it at.
Great times so
far. Miss all the old gang. E me @
jwmdallas_2000@yahoo.com if you
get a chance. See ya at the 20th reunion party.
Bye for now.
P.S. Probably thinking "he still loves to run his

Betty and I discovered the "Pecos Gab" a few months
ago and quickly told our
two daughters, Debra and Sharon (they were "Smiths"
when we lived in Pecos
1966-78). They have enjoyed meeting many former
classmates. We have
enjoyed the comments tremendously, and I wrote Peggy
to tell her so...isn't
she the GREATEST ?
During the twelve years I served as pastor of First
Baptist Church there, I
found the Pecos Enterprise to be very friendly,
helpful, informative, and
innovative ! This Internet Site is an excellent
illustration of just how
innovative they are.
We keep in touch thru several friends there,
especially Mike and Jo
Allison ; Nancy & Roger Russell; Fran and Ben Meek,
thru eMail. We also
talk regularly to Pat and Bill Hubbs by phone, and get
out to Paisano
Baptist Encampment whenever we can, just to renew
acquaintance with many who
still live in Pecos...people we still appreciate and
love thru the years.
We live presently in San Antonio (have for the past 22
years), but are
moving soon to Arlington, Tx. to be near our daughters
who both live there.
Our eMail address is: betles55@flash.net and we'd
love to hear from friends
there. We also have a Web site. Visit us there at:
http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Garden/3533 and
sign our guestbook there,
so we'll know you "came by".
I am retired now, as is Betty...and, we are enjoying
it very much. Our love
goes out to you all and we thank you for helping shape
our lives !

are invited for a minireunion in east Plano on July
24th.
We're hoping to find some of our missing
classmates this way, so bring your address books, your
spouses, and your kids for a fun afternoon. All I ask
is that you bring your favorite bag of chips and a
couple of liters of your favorite drink. I'll be
grilling up some hotdogs and hamburgers. I need a
volunteer for condiments and veggies for the burgers
and a volunteer for paper plates, napkins, cups, and
ice.
Email me if you can help, can come, and want
directions. Hope to see you all there.

currently live in Corpus Christi, Texas and have been

We have 3 children, all grown and mostly away from
home. Although they do
tend to return on occasion. Two grandchildren and
they are spoiled rotten.
Grammie thinks they have to have at least one present
a day ( may be
stretching the truth just a little bit) but it is okay
with me. Keeps me
from having to do the shopping myself. Daughter is
school teacher, oldest
son works for manufacturing company and youngest son

Ray,
Thanks so much for your summary of the activities this
July 4th. Every
time I hear a marching band, I get goose bumps.
Thanks to the Pecos
Eagle Band! I still love the smell of the grass on a
football field.
However, now my baton just chases away dogs when I go
for my walks.
I agree that there is something special about jeans
but my generation
was the Hippie rebellious generation. I still love my
jeans and
T-shirts and tennis shoes. I hate dressing up every
morning when I get
dressed to go to work. I remember the summers spent
on Betty Jo and
Charlie Neff's ranch where we woke at 4:30 a.m. and
headed out for a
cattle drive. I love the smell of horses and the
national anthem
playing loud and clear.
So many good people came from Pecos and I am so proud
to be among them.
Thanks for your memories and stories! Keep it up! We
all miss Pecos,
the rodeo, even Mrs. Shepherd's homework!
