Hi everyone. Bobby Bowlin here looking for some of my
"ole"
classmates. I knew that someday Typing Class would
come in handy but I
didn't think it would take 33 years. Oh well, it was
worth the 1/2
credit so I could graduate so I guess it was worth the
wait. Love to
hear from ya"ll.

Hi. My school reunion at Flomot was great. Saw people I hadn't seen since childhood, a year or two back.
If you want to contribute to this space but don't want your e-mail address posted, just let me know when you write, and I will delete it. I'd like to see some letters from home folks, and I'm sure others would like to know what your life is like now.

Rodeo, Pecos Style

Geetings and saluations to all.
Just returned from Pecos Texas where Jo Ann and I
attended the Rodeo and
her 40th class reunion.
The rodeo was great. We attended the Rodeo with Ronny
& Patsy Bowles
on Friday and Saturday. The arena was in the best
shape that I have seen in
years. The second nights attendance was not real good,
however that was
remedied on the third night. I know that I will never
get to the point
where I do not get excited at this special event.
When the announcer's voice cut through the crystal
clear evening in
Pecos Texas and declared:, "Ladies Post the Colors".
My heart did
a two step when that cowgirl dressed in white Steason
hat, silver
shirt and chaps nudged 1000 pounds of black stallion
forward and
unfurled Old glory. Watching that beautiful animal and
rider in full
stride with the flag fluttering above then in the West
Texas wind
gives new meaning to the ballad "America the
Beautiful".
I watched as every man and woman and child stood
and removed their hat and placed it on their heart as
the flag moved past
them. When the young lady's voice began to repeat the
words to that great
ballad you could hear a pin drop in that arena. Let me
tell you there is no
way you could stand in this kind of atmosphere and not
believe in a higher,
mighter being.
As I watched man and animal in this eternal struggle
called rodeo I thought
of the hundreds of "heros" I see on T.V. in sports and
the news who could
not even hold a candle to these "Gentleman Cowboys".
The feeling of being
home in West Texas is exemplefied everytime a man tips
his Stetson to a
lady or grasps your hand and says, "Howdy!". The young
people still say
"Thank You" and "Sir" and "Maam". The old cowboys in
faded jeans, boots
and the ever present Stetson who greet you like kin
folks. I am convinced
that the finest ball gowns and the most beautiful
jewelry in the world can
not make a lady more beautiful than a pair of jeans,
western shirt and Stetson hat worn by a West Texas
Cowgirl.
The second special event was Jo Ann's 40th reunion.
Sonny Williams hosted a
dinner at his mother's home on the 2nd. for those ex's
who came in on
Friday. There was a reception at the Quality Inn on
the third where the
ex's got together and visited. Peggy Ater, Mary Ann
Bipps, James Caswell,
Sugar Fisher, LeRoy Gray, Byrlene Harrison, Darvin
Hooker, Patsy Jackson,
Jane Jones, Tommy Lasater, Delinda McDonald, Bonnie
McPerson, Sand Martin,
and Roy Prewit were just a few that all enjoyed the
evening. Roy and Reita
Prewit had a meal and more visiting at their house
that evening.
I had a really good time visiting with several special
people during this
reunion.
On Sunday we visited with the Darvin Hookers in the
restaurant at the
Quality Inn. The Hookers live in Midland and he works
for JDH and
Associates and she teaches school. Both are an
absolute delight to visit
with. We went by the Bowles (Ronny and Patsy) and
visited until lunch and
went to eat together. Ronny and Patsy are two of our
oldest and dearest
friends. Patsy and Jo Ann started first grade
together. Ronny has always
been a good friend. One thing among many that
impresses me about Ronny is
there is never anything false about him. If he doesn't
like you he simple
tells you. They are two very special people in our
lives and we are so
fortunate to have them as friends.

From: Jerry Lovelace
For the members of the class of '74.
Do we want to wait another 5 years to celebrate
another milestone?
I don't think so!
If you can't make it back to Pecos, where will you go
to be with the
best friends you ever had? Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe,
Orlando, New
York (on second thought, scratch that one), Copper
Mountain (nice),
Padre Island (a little warm this time of year),
Ruidoso (Inn of the M.G.,
great golf)...will you go? When? If you are
interested,
email the Pecos Gab site and someone will take
responsibility for
organizing an activity in which we can all enjoy and
remember for
a lifetime.
I am going to my own 40-year class reunion July 4, and will update these pages when I get back. Everyone let us know what you did for the holiday.

What a treat to recognize old friends and former
students names on a
newly discovered site. Bill and I lived there from
1965-1978 and some
of our dearest friends and fondest memories came from
Pecos.
We have lived in Snyder since 1987 where I still try
to teach school. (I
taught first grade after working at First National
Bank for two years in
Pecos). I currently teach third grade ...hopefully
for only a few more
years. Bill is with TDCJ as a Western Region
Administrator which means
that he works within the Texas prison system in the
school system
within. His territory covers 65000 sq. miles so he is
forced to travel
a great deal.
We both play golf (Bill is back on track after having
knee replacement
last June which was very successful) though Bill is
still by far the
best golfer in this twosome.
We often reflect on the many friends and good times we
had when we were
young in Pecos. We would love to hear from those who
might still
remember us.

Seems like just yesterday that I used to walk to Earl Bell Elementary school. Sometimes it was raining and cold. The teachers there were tough and mean. Got a spanking every other day.
Then there was East Pecos Jr. High. Boy that was a trip. Mr. Portillo's class was a blast and who could forget Gym. Time stood still back then, or so it seemed.
Pecos High School in the the 70's now that was cool, bell bottoms, rock n roll, miniskirts, Mr Mosley, the Cotton Patch, Mosley's Marines, Tio's, Saragoza and Santa Rosa Ballrooms, the Chicano revolution, my hair too long, and so Mr.. Mosley kicks me out of campus; again. My name is Julian Castro and those are some of my memories of Pecos and Pecos High. Some pleasant and some not so pleasant. I barely made it through High School, my stumbling block, Mrs.Turk and English IV. I haven't been able to make any of the reunions there. I live in Austin Texas with my wife Eva Lara Castro and son Cesar. We go to Pecos every now and then. We miss it.
God bless Pecos.

I live in Houston with my husband Alton Gardner and our 5 mo old beautiful baby girl Shelby. We never see anyone from Pecos except my sister Lana ('92) and my parents James & Barbara Smith. (This is my parents' e-mail address because we're not hooked up yet). Are there any Pecos exes living in the Houston area? You know, if it weren't for the traffic, humidity and mosquitoes, this wouldn't be such a bad city to live in. haha! Not really--we love it here.
We are going to be in Pecos for the 4th so I hope to see some of my former classmates there. I hope you are all doing well. Take care!!

What's up Pecos?!! My name is Adam Herrera and I
graduated in 1986. I
have seen a couple of my classmate's postings so I
decided to add my two
cents worth.
I have been married for 9 years to my beautiful wife
Romelia Herrera (no
relation prior to our marriage) who also is originally
from Pecos. We
have been blessed with two beautiful
girls, Amberlen who is 8 yrs old and Ashlyn who is 3.
We currently live in Plfugerville Texas which is just
outside of
Austin. I am employed by Motorola and have been with
them for the past
6 yrs.
My brother Ruben also lives in Pflugerville and my
sister Eva lives in
San Antonio.
I get out to Pecos about 2 to 3 times a year as we both
still have alot
of family in Pecos.
There are several ex Pecos people living here in Austin.
I believe all
the Levario's are here - Benny, Tommy, Sammy, etc..
Noe Salazar, Rudy Falcon, Tony Gonzales, Tony Orosco,
Edward Orona,
Israel Avila and others I can't remember at this time.
It's funny but I
have probably seen only a couple of these guys around
and at the most I
have seen them only once or twice.
It's great to hear all the success stories that have
come out of Pecos
all these years!!!
Not bad for a small little town in West Texas.
I am always glad to hear that my old friends are doing
well.
Keep the posts coming it is great to hear from all of
you.
Feel free to email me, I would love to hear from all my
old friends.

Hi everyone,
Ain't this a surprise? I had no idea that Pecos had
entered the
computer age. Who would have guessed? Well, it
certainly brought back
memories reading through all those e-mails. I must
admit, I do miss all my
old friends from the class of '89.
Well, for those of you who don't quite remember me,
I was a chubby
sucker who liked to clown around a bit. I think alot of
you would be
surprised to see me now. I have lost quite a bit of
weight and gone through
extensive plastic surgery. I am an actor. I am sure
that some of you have
heard of my by my acting name, "Antonio
Banderas"(HAHAHAHA) Sorry, I
couldn't help it. Seriously now, after high school, I
did a little time in
the army. After that I spent most of my time in
California. I spent alot
of time bumming around on the coast. After that I worked
for a gardener, so
if anyone wants to know what kind of fertilizer to use
for their grass and
flowers, don't ask me.(HAHA)
Now, I am going to school. I just received two
associates degrees. One
in liberal arts and the other in math. I was accepted
into UC Davis, here
in California, as a double major. I will be majoring in
math and physics,
so I am pretty excited about that. I am doing pretty
well in school. I
have decided to stop clowning around and start listening
to the teachers for
a change.
As far as my personal life, I am not married and have
no children. I
have decided to spread the wealth with all the single
women in this world.
Well, I am really happy that I found this website. If
any of you remember
me, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail. I am looking
forward to talking
about old times. My address is bobbear@hotmail.com
Take care everyone

Actually this message is to add to an early message.
There is great truth
to Tommy B's letter to you about growing up in Pecos.
Also I had noted that
one class was very special to me; 1959 mainly because
Jo Ann Pouns, my
perfect wife and best friend for the last 40 years
graduated in 1959. The
other class that is special to me is the class of
1957. That era from 49 to
59 was my youth and it was great.
I am not seeing any information or inquires about the
reunion for the class
of 59 in these messages. Remember you lucky people are
getting together the
weekend of the forth of July during that "little calf
roping event" they
have down there. (Boy, saying the Pecos Rodeo is a
"Little calf Roping" is
like saying the Atlantic Ocean is a puddle.) You guys
are celebrating a
very special reunion and as my friend Tommy B. say's
they are all special
but none so more than your own.
The 40th reunion for
the class of 57 was
awesome. So Class of 59 please don't miss one of the
special times in your
lives to get to renew old friendships and find out how
old everyone, but
you look. One class mate for the class of 1957 says
she did not attend her
reunion because she had gained weight and her hair was
white. Well I got
news for you and her, so have most of the other
"students" from 40 yrs.
ago. Remember if you gained a Little, there is just
more to hug.

Although I see Tommy Beauchamp every Sunday in church,
I wanted to
acknowledge his statement in this media. Tommy you hit
it right on target
in your quote on this GAB Line i.e.:
We have had several reunions in the past, but
something about this one was
special. I tried to analyze why this class, and the
others around it are so
close; I finally decided it's because we not only went
to high school
together - we grew up together! I can't remember when
some of these friends
weren't there! From some of my oldest memories these
guys were around. We
felt more like brothers and sisters. Sure we got mad
at each other, and
sometimes fought, but who didn't? We don't get mad
now! All we felt toward
each other now is love.
This statement could apply for all the people who grew
up in Pecos and
graduated from Pecos High School. Including a very
special class for me the
class of 59. Thanks Tommy.

ever tasted for 5 cents each. Just catty-cornered from
the old Elementary
School. Not only the best hamburgers in town, but the
place where, when
you got in an argument with someone, you met him after
school to settle
things. Of course, it usually wound up with one guy
being too scared to
show up and the other glad of it.

Hi everyone! As I read about all of the reunions I keep
thinking there are
so many people I attended school with and would love to
see and hear from.
Why don't we have a reunion of all the Pecos exes? All
classes all together?
I don't know when how or anything but I do belive we
would all benefit.

Hi Pecos. I'm Hector Villescas of the Class of '86. I'm
so glad I found
this site.
I live in El Paso with my wife Melissa (Lindenschmidt)
and my two boys,
Ryan (5) and Alexander (3), who go by "Ryno" and
"Gator", respectively.
I'm in retail, and am a district supervisor for the
largest independent
petroleum marketer and refiner in the country. I moved
to El Paso from
San Angelo in early '98. While we were in San Angelo, my
wife and I
graduated from Angelo State. She's got a psychology
degree, so she
psychoanalyzes me everyday. We still own property in San
Angelo and hope
to return some day.
I'm sure many of you remember Father Ed. We attend mass
at his church.
The youth group at his church participates in the noon
mass, and boy,
they remind me so much of our old "party gang". All the
people in his
church remind me of our Santa Rosa, and I feel quite "at
home" there.
I was prompted to post this note after seeing Noe
Salazar's message.
Q-vole Noe?? I fondly remember the last day before I
went to Angelo State
13 years ago. Noe and several of our good friends
partied late into the
night at Noe's house. Everyone was pretty happy for me,
and the party
ended with a huge wrestling event in which dirt and
fists and mud were
flung wildly. The last I had heard about Noe was that he
was working in
telecommunications overseas.
Noe mentioned Rudy Falcon and Jesse Melendez. So Noe, if
you see Rudy and
Jesse, say "hey" for me.
To the Pecos Enterprise, Thank you very much for this
site.

Well, well, well!! Who says "you can't go home again." I was pointed to this site by my English son-in-law who wanted to know what "Al's" was. Waves of memory washed over me. I can't wait to drop a line to many of the correspondents I see who I remember vividly but who I haven't seen or talked to for several decades.
We are alive and well in Dallas. Four grandchildren now - two boys and two girls - all under three (our kids waited forever.) My mother, Janice, is reasonably well for someone almost 90. Dad passed away in 1993 (as most of you know.)
We only come through Pecos once a year now on our way to Bloys Campmeeting. See the Dorr's on our way through and many folks at Bloys (including Emily Fernandes my high-school Spanish teacher who was barely older than we were.)
Congratulations to the Enterprise for posting this site. Hope to hear from old friends.
Regards,
Bob (Robert Neal) Hughes

HI! Ted Beauchamp here, class of '63. Heard several
of you have found
my brother, Tommy (in San Angelo) and my sister, Teri
(in Stockdale Tx.)
and Teri has been after to me to visit the site. I live
in
Breckenridge, Tx. and own a couple of businesses. One
is an office
supply (chain of 2) and the other is a screen printing
shop that offers
metal engraving, laser engraving, sign making,
embroidery, specialty
advertising and of course, screen printing.
My wife, Jean and I are about to celebrate our 25th
wedding anniversary
and one week from Sun, Jun 5, we are flying to Tahiti
for 10 days of
well deserved vacation. So I won't be able to reply to
anyone for a
couple of weeks.
Would love to hear from anyone. Incidently, last year,
I ran across
Royce Brewer in Eastland, Tx. selling cars. He has
since moved back to
Las Vegas and back to "his" kind of life. Things were
just too dull for
him out here.
My 21 year old son will be a senior at Tarleton and he
has given us a
beautiful 2 1/2 year old grandaughter. Anyway, time to
go. Hope I
hear from some old friends and classmates. Sorry I
missed the last
reunion, but just couldn't get away from my business.
Too much going
on. E-mail is staples@kroo.com or call me at
254-559-8035 evenings or
800-658-6327 days.

of Johnny Wofford of Ft. Davis. I remember a Johnny
Wofford from
school. Does Johnny ever visit this site? If anyone
know his email,
let me know!

Hello Pecos!!! I, as well as so many others who have
written, was very
excited to find this site. I'm Laura Portillo Cordova,
Class of 1985. My
parents are Antonio and Rosie Portillo. Many of you my
remember my brothers:
Anthony (Class of 86), Alex (Class of 92) and
Arthur(Class of 93).
Graduated from Angelo State University in 1989 and am
currently living in San
Antonio with my husband and college sweetheart Martin.
We have been married
for almost 5 years. San Antonio has been home for us
for over 9 years. I
work at CaminoReal Bank as the Customer Service Manager.
I've been there for
over 5 years.
I have seen quite a few names I've recognized. It's
nice to know former PHS
grads do keep in touch and had such fond memories in
Pecos.
To this day I look forward to eating a frito burger from
Cy's.
I have yet to see any e-mail messages from the Class of
1985. I know a lot
of former PHS grads now live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth
area. It would be great
to hear from ya'll!!!
My e-mail address is lpc945@aol.com.
Thanks Pecos Enterprise for a site we can keep tabs back
home!!
