Hi, everyone! I am Cindy Kesey Alexander and just found out
about this neat
web page from Becky Hooper. I have enjoyed looking through the
letters and
noticing so many familiar names - what memories they bring to
mind!
I am still working in Fort Worth for the Sid W. Richardson
Foundation as
business manager. This July will be my 22nd anniversary here. It
is a
wonderful job and worth the 50-minute drive from Decatur where I
live with
my husband, Wayne. We will celebrate our 10th anniversary this
week!
We just returned from Roswell, NM where we went to see "our"
granddaugher
graduate from high school. Wayne was a widower with 3 grown
children and 2
grandchildren when we met. So, I got a ready-made family!!
It is ironic that I found out about this web page today since
over the
weekend I was wondering if my class of 1970 will have a 30th
reunion in the
year 2000. Does anyone know???
My sister, Connie, and her husband live here in Fort Worth and
have a 5 1/2
year old daughter who is so much fun!
I would love to hear from anyone!

Hello everyone! This is Nancy Douglas Douglas. It has been
great to read
the communications from everyone. I love this site and
continually read
it. I'm looking forward to the Class of 1969 Reunion during the
rodeo.
It's been so exciting to locate classmates that I hadn't heard
from since
we graduated. It's neat to see where others are now and to learn
about
their families. George and I live in Cisco, TX which is 45 miles
east of
Abilene, TX on IH-20. It's a small city and we really do like it
here. We
lived in Pecos (and Barstow) until moving here in 1993. We have
3
beautiful daughters. April is 25, married to Richard DiCarlo and
has two
wonderful baby girls, ages 4 & 2. She graduated from Texas Tech
in May of
'98 and teaches math at Riverside Middle School in Ft. Worth. I
know she
would love to hear from any of her classmates that graduated from
PHS in
1992. Her e-mail address is radicarlo@mindspring.com. Our
middle
daughter, Airon, is 20, married to Jared Patterson, lives here
and works at
Eastland Nat'l Bank. Our youngest daughter, Amy, is 16 (HELP!!!)
and will
be a Jr. at Cisco High School next fall. That's what's the most
important
news in our world today. We love to spend time with our
grandbabies and
since they live in Arlington, TX, we get to do that quite a bit.
We'd love
to hear from those we know that are reading Pecos Gab. E-mail us
direct if
you would like to. Our e-mail address is gena@eastland.net. I
guess
that's enought of a book for now. Until later...God Bless and
take care!

Hello,
I'm David Palomino Class of 1975! My brother told me about
http://www.pecos.netand have really enjoyed reading all the
e-mail that
Pecos Exes have been sending to the Pecos Gab.
I live in Austin, Tx. My daughter Melaine (23 yrs) is out on her
own, my
oldest son David III (20 yrs) is living with me going to college,
my
youngest son Nicky (16 yrs) is living with mom. They are all here
in
Austin. Been here since 1980.
It is really nice to hear from so many exes, some that I remember
some
that I don't. I was hesitant at first to write, but the more I
saw
others write I decided to use this forum to let old friends know
where I
am and what I'm doing.
After 8 yrs in the Air Force I got out and went to school. To
compete in
the Hi Tech industry of Austin if figured I needed to get some
kind of
degree, so I got a Computer Science degree. Worked with some nice
companies here in town and am currently working at Motorola. My
first
day at work at Motorola, I ran into an old classmate, Kelvin
Holub. Hope
Kelvin doesn't mind telling his whereabouts.
Hi to the class of 1974, 1975, 1976. There are a lot of old
classmates
and friends I remember from those years. Don't hesitate to write
cause I
might just drop a line or two to some of you.
thanks.....dp

Both are busy and active with lots going on. Mike is still in the "communications" business as a V-P at Citicorp handling computer networking and all that Y2K business. PHS graduates of long ago

From:
jsnwal@uswest.net
Hello Pecos Gab,
I come from a family of PHS graduates. I graduated in 1957,
and my brothers Lauren D. Hobbs and John H. Wallace, Jr.
graduated long before me in the Jurassic Age; then my sister
Sara, graduated after me.
Our father, John Wallace, Sr. managed the Pecos Funeral Home
during our childhoods and retired from there about early
1970's. He passed away in August, 1976, after a visit to
one of the cemetaries where he continued to sell tombstones.
He worked with Arlene Bowie Hill's father who set the stones
for Dad. Mom moved from Pecos before the end of that year
back to her home county in Iowa where she remains at 93
years old today.
My classmates informed me of this communications channel.
We have quite a bit of chatter going on among our class.
My wife, Cheryl, and I live with our three boys, Joshua,
Stephen, and Noah on the Springstone Ranch near Springdale,
WA. This is a quarterhorse ranch where show quality horses
are bred and developed. We have lived in Washington for 8
years now. We live closer to Bob Whittington in Edmonton,
Alberta in Canada in "Pecos Gab" than to Pecos.
We are still having some morning frost here, while it is
already 98 degrees in Pecos. In fact we had a couple of
inches of snow on Mother's Day.
I'll look forward to additional Pecos Gab.

Hello:
We found Pecos Gab and were thrilled. What a good idea for all
the old
"Pecosites" to keep up with each other. We are Mattie Belle and
Clark
Ford. We lived in Pecos during the decade of the 70's, and I
pastored
First Christian Church. Mattie Belle was employed at First
National Bank
for most of those years. We have two children and a son-in-law
who
graduated from PHS. Our daughter Debra in 1973 and her husband
Bill
Svoboda in 1974. Our Son Kenneth was a l979 graduate.
We live in Midland and still come to visit Pecos now and then. We
have
such good memories of a Pecos that was far different from what we
see now.
Downtown was booming, farming was going strong, the oil industry
was in
full swing and the sulphur plant was under construction. What a
wonderful
place to live and raise a family. The Pecos Eagles were flying
high
winning district several times and always a strong contended in
all sports.
We would love to hear from our friends. Debra and Bill Svoboda
live in
Midland and also Kenneth and his famly. If you want to reach

I'm trying to find classmates to see if there is anything planned for this year (hey, it's been 10 YEARS!!!). Kind of short notice, but I'd love to see you all. I have a great idea...let's hold the reunion at SONIC :)
I live near San Angelo with my husband and 20-month old son (Colton). I am now a housewife and I'm loving being able to stay home with our son. It is definitely the most rewarding "job" I've ever had.
I would also like to hear from any past Golden Girls. Is anyone going to be there this year?
It was great visiting this page! It really brings back memories (and hopefully some old friends). Thanks to all who can help!

My name is Eve (Wilson) Roberts. Class of 1975. My older brother is Mike Wilson, class of 1972. I live in Decatur, Texas which is Northwest of Ft. Worth. My husband's name is John (J.R.) and I have a five year old named Rebecca. I also have three stepchilden, Seth 19, Heather 14, and Sara 12. Mike and I are both pleased to read about the news and many fond memories from exes.
I saw someone's request for the Texas Cream Pie recipe. I've had this recipe for about 25 or 30 years, and I am pretty sure it is the one my family had from Fosters' Restaurant. I will type it exactly as it is written on this old old recipe card. Hope someone can figure out how to make it from these instructions. If anyone has recipe for Ben's Chilirellenos, Al's Tacos, or the Rosco plate, we would love to know them! Some flavors you just can't seem to duplicate!
Texas Cream Pie
1 Envelope Knox Gelatin
1/4 cup cold water
Set aside
Beat in top of double boiler:
1/2 cup sugar
2 egg yolks
1 cup milk
dash salt
Cook until custard stage - add gelatin and chill well, then stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla - 3/4 cup whipped cream. Beat 2 egg whites until stiff and fold last three ingredients into custard. Pour into baked crust.
Use remainder 1/4 cup whipped cream to garnish top and add chocolate shavings atop whip cream.
If someone is very good with reading recipes, maybe you can use this and then explain to me.
Hope to hear from some old friends.

Hello...this is a fantastic idea...This is Ana Miramontes and I am
surprised that more of the Class of '82 are not online gabbing. It
would
be fantastic to hear from some of you I haven't seen in nearly 20
years.
I attended Pecos schools and am equally grateful for Bill
Carrico...he
truly was an inspiration for so many of us. He was and is the
most
motivational and fair person that I know. I owe so much to him
and his
wife...
My husband and I (Saul Roquemore class of '83) live in the Dallas
area
and we have 3 children....spend a lot of time thinking about all
the fun
we had growing up in Pecos. We also realize that we were blessed
with
some of the best teachers anywhere...when we went to Texas Tech we
were
READY....thanks to Ms. Boswell...Brother Workman...Ms.
Bailey....and of
course JB Briggs.....
I have a really crazy idea...I was recently in Pecos and was
looking at
Eagle Stadium and it sorely needs a paint job....perhaps some of
the
classes that are coming up on reunion time or those of us who go
back to
Pecos during the Rodeo events....or at some other time...would be
willing to get together and bring a paint brush/roller...etc...and
give
the place a needed facelift...We could have the benefit of getting
to
see people we haven't seen in years and at the same time give a
little
back to the place we all love....
If anyone who is in the Pecos area would be willing to coordinate
something of the sort I would be willing to show up brush in hand
and
help....Please feel free to STEAL MY IDEA AND MAKE IT A
REALITY...I
think we can all agree that PHS is one of the most common bonds we
have....
By the way... I went on to Lubbock and received my degree in
Financial
Planning from Texas Tech University....my husband also finished
from
Tech as did my brother, and sister...as some of you remember I was
very
capable of being a teacher's nightmare child and ironically today
I am a
teacher... I teach 5th grade for Lewisville ISD..the one advantage
that
I have is that not many of my students can do anything to me that
I
haven't already done to someone else....yes we do reap what we
sow.....
If anyone in cyberland knows as to the whereabouts of Lena Cobos,
Rita
Rubio, Irene Flores, Jesus Rayos..just to name a few...please get
in
touch with....To all in Pecos....Hello....and to the person who
designed
this site....many heartfelt thanks.... Ana

It is so fun reading about life in Pecos some years ago. Al's was
a fun
place and I remember alot of good times there. The food was also
GREAT!! The frito burgers and tacos were so good. When they
closed, I
remember everyone wanting the recipe for those frito burgers.
Nobody
made them like Al. I think that is the only place that I ever
had a
round hot dog.
I do remember taking my niece Donna around the drag as we called
it back
then. Al's was the hangout for a really long time. My dad worked
there
many years back when he was in school.
Oh well...life goes on, but what fond memories.
