Enrique "Henry" C. Reyes, 56, of Pecos, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at Mi Casita Care Center in Lubbock.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 2, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, March 3, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Miguel Angel officiating.

He was born June 6, 1946, in Pecos, was a maintenance man at the natural food processing plant, was a lifetime resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his mother, Micaela Chavez of Calif.; four brothers, Ismael and Danny Reyes of Pecos, Frank Reyes of Colorado, Alfred Calzadillas of Indiana; three sisters, Gloria R. Lara of Pecos, Elsa and Elva Molina of Calif.

Bill Malone

Bill M. Malone, 72, of Pecos, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at Reeves County Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 10, 1931, in Pecos, was a lifetime Pecos resident, self-employed-the owner of Dairy Mart, served in the U.S. Army and was a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Garry Harrison of Ozona; one daughter, Sandy Smith of Pecos; one sister and three grandchildren.

Seferino Jacquez 

Seferino "Wero" Jacquez, 68, died Saturday, Feb. 22, 2003, at his residence in Monahans.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 8, 1934, in Verhalen, was a retired oilfield worker, had lived in Monahans for four years and was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Jacquez of Monahans; his mother, Maria Lopez Jacquez of Pecos; six sons, Seferino, Jr., Samuel, Rojelio, Daniel and Raymundo Jacquez of Calif., Peter Jacquez of Pecos; two daughters, Celia Jacquez of Calif., Melissa Jacquez of Monahans; three brothers, Vicente Jacquez of El Paso, Manuel Jacquez of Pecos, Teodoro Jacquez of Pecos; one sister, Conquestacion "Chona" Fuentes of Saragosa and nine grandchildren.

Services for Bill Malone, 72, of Pecos, who died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, are incomplete.

Ismael Bustamante

Ismael Valencia Bustamante, 56, of Pecos, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital.

Mass was held at 2 p.m., today, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 3, 1946, in Pecos, was a lifetime Pecos resident, a laborer and a Catholic.

Survivors include four sisters, Eva Garcia of Los Angeles, Calif., Simona Matta of Clovis, Calif., Margaret Valdez of Midland, Sue Abila of Pecos; other survivors include Andy Gomez, Yolanda Martinez, Grace Morales and Mario Sotelo, all of Pecos and Irma Gochicoa of Odessa.

Frances Powell

France N. Powell, 82, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, in Denison.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 15, at First Christian Church in Denison with Rev. Ron Pingleton officiating.

She was born June 29, 1920, in Belton, graduated from Belton High School in Belton, attended Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, N.M., was retired as a City Tax Assessor-Collector for Pecos and a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, O. Prater Powell of Denison; three daughters, Frances M. Pohl of Hallettsville, Glenda Kunath of San Angelo, Cornelia Hensley of Denison; one sister, Nadine Lavendar of Sherman; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the West of the Pecos Museum, Pecos or to the donor's favorite charity.

Margaret Staton

Margaret M. Staton, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at a hospital in Fairfield, Calif.

She was born Nov. 29, 1958, in Pecos.

Services will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Baca Ville Chapel in Fairfield, Calif.

Staton was preceded in death by her father, Nick Jurado and her grandmother Lola Acosta, of Pecos.

Survivors include her husband, Dave Staton of Fairfield; one son, Jacob Saldana; one daughter, Jessica Saldana; her mother, Isabel Jurado of Pecos; two brothers, Larry and his wife, Connie Jurado of Santa Fe, N.M., Rudy and his wife, Becky Jurado of Pecos; one sister, Patsy and her husband, Larry Buchanan of San Antonio and several nieces and nephews.

Ignacio Chavez Jr.

Ignacio S. Chavez Jr., 53, of Pecos, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Mass was held at 2 p.m., today, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 1, 1950, in Grandfalls, was a laborer and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Chavez of Pecos; three sons, Arturo, Sunny and Mariano Chavez of Pecos; three daughters, Geneva and Priscilla Chavez of Pecos, Claudia Hernandez of Pecos; four brothers, Amador, Dolores and Israel Chavez of Pecos, Pablo Chavez of Hobbs, N.M.; four sisters, Maria Chavez of Hobbs, N.M., Esperanza Chavez of Portales, N.M., Nancy P. Chavez of Northern, Calif., Juanita F. Chavez of Texas City and four grandchildren.

Paul Condit

Paul Condit, of Seminole, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, in Seminole.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., today, at the First Presbyterian Church in Seminole with the Rev. Gail Perkins officiating.

He was born April 9, 1933, in Foster, Okla., graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1955, was an oil supply dealer, a farmer and a John Deere dealer. He served on the Memorial Hospital Board and has been the Gaines Co. Democratic Chairman for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Condit of Seminole; three sons, John, Jim and Jeff Condit of San Antonio; one brother, Royce Condit of Seminole and four grandchildren.

John Fernandes

John W. Fernandes, 84, of Pecos, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at the Reeves County Hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 11, at the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Miles officiating.

Fernandes was born April 26, 1918, in Midland, served in the U.S. Army in World War II, was a rancher and a Presbyterian.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Fernandes of Pecos; one son, John Frank Fernandes of Austin; one daughter, Lynn Fowler of Pecos; two brothers, Larry Fernandes of Kermit, Doug Fernandes of Pecos; one sister, Ruth Fernandes of Lubbock and two grandchildren.

Martha Fuentez

Martha Fuentez, 53, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Sherman.

Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery. She was born Sept. 7, 1949, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, was a housewife and a Catholic.

Survivors include her mother Ermila Mongarro of Pecos; one son, Cesar Fuentez of Fort Stewart, Ga.; three brothers, Manuel Maynez of Pecos, Melchor and Mario Maynez of Odessa and three grandchildren.

Harvey Moore

Harvey Moore, 76, of Balmorhea, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 8, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Balmorhea with Father Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be in Balmorhea Cemetery. He was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Balmorhea, was a farmer, a lifetime Balmorhea resident and a Catholic.

Moore was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Moore.

Survivors include three sons, John Harvey Moore, Jr. of Iraan, Charles Robert Moore of Toyahvale, Joseph Edgar Moore of Odessa; two daughters, Peggy Moore of Midland, Janet Ellen Sessom of Lawton, Okla.; two sisters, Josephine Harrington of Monahans, Ellen Lethco of Cherokee, Tx.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Benita Tarin

Benita Tarin, 85, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Lubbock.

Mass was held at 10 a.m., today, Friday, Feb. 7, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born March 21, 1917, in Presidio, was a housewife, a longtime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include four sons, Jesse A., James A., Abraham A. and Robert A. Tarin; four daughters, Tomasa Capetillo, Maria Franco, Juanita Rico and Ester Marquez; two sisters, Vicenta Martinez and Maria Refugia Fuentez; 32 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Ruth Gregory

Ruth Georgia Gregory, 88, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 7, at Church of Christ with Fred Dominguez officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Meyers Town, Mo., had lived in Pecos since 1957, was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Gregory of Pecos; one son, Raymond Lee Gregory of El Paso and two grandchildren.

Thomas McKeown

Thomas L. McKeown, 72, of Kansas City, Mo., died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, in Kansas City.

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Sparks, Anne McKeown and Mary McKeown of Kansas City; two sons, Mark McKeown of Kansas City, Michael McKeown of Pass Christian, Mo., and four grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church of Kansas City or the local Community Blood Center.

Elvia Herrera

Elvia V. Herrera, 57, of Odessa, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at Odessa Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born Nov. 6, 1945, in Crystal City, was nurses aide for Nurses Unlimited, a longtime resident of Odessa and a Catholic.

Survivors include two sons, Francisco Vega Jr. of Fort Worth, Raymond Vega of Pecos; two daughters, Irma C. Guajardo and Elaine Rangel of Pecos; six brothers, Abel, Arnold, Frank, Tommy, Roy and Ernest Vargas of Littlefield; two sisters, Petra Vargas and Isaura Ybarra of Littlefield; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gregorio Navarrete

PECOS, Feb. 4, 2003 - Gregorio Molina Navarrete, 83, of Pecos, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 5, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 6, at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church with Rev. Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Barstow, was raised in San Pedro, Mexico, married Ramona Juarez Navarrete and moved to Cuchillo Parado, Mexico, where they had nine children. He was a Catholic and a long time employee of La Cuerva Ranch in Marfa. In 1964, they moved to Pecos, where he was employed in bridge and highway construction.

Navarrete was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona J. Navarrete and one son, Miguel J. Navarrete.

Survivors include six sons, Armando and wife Paz Navarrete, Enrique and wife Corina Navarrete, Gregorio Jr. and wife Vicky Navarrete, Jose and wife Mari Navarrete, Evigael and wife Virginia Navarrete, all of Pecos and Alfredo and wife Bertha Navarrete of Odessa; two daughters, Maria Luisa and husband Johnny Saenz of Grand Prairie, Graciela and husband Auden Lujan and daughter-in-law Adelia Navarrete of Odessa; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Pallbearers will be Jose Alfredo Gomez, Omero Navarrete, Miguel Angel Navarrete, Rick Navarrete, Edward Navarrete, Oscar Navarrete, Joshua Navarrete and E. Jaymes Navarrete.
