Eliria D. Fuentes

Eliria D. Fuentes, 74, of Saragosa, died Saturday, November 30, 2002 at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.

Fuentes was born on June 21, 1928 in Balmorhea, Texas and was a homemaker and a Catholic.

A rosary will also be held today, December 2, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at 7 p.m.

Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Saragosa tomorrow, December 3, 2002 at 4 p.m. with burial following at the Saragosa Cemetery.

Survivors are husband Frank Fuentes, son Hector Fuentes, daughter Elia Estrada all of Saragosa, Texas, brother Lionisio Lopez of Anondale, Arizona, sisters Eliboria Lopez of Saragosa, Texas, Alicia Duran and Guadalupe Vasquez both of Mesa Arizona.

Fuentes is preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Pablo M. Renteria III

Pablo Mariscal Renteria III, 18, of Pecos died November 28, 2002 in an Odessa Hospital after being involved in a car accident.

Renteria was born on November 2, 1984 in Pecos and was a student and a Catholic.

A rosary will be held today, December 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Services will be tomorrow, December 3, at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church at 2 p.m. with Father Miguel Angel Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.

Survivors include his parents Sally Mariscal of Odessa and Pablo Renteria, Jr. of Pecos, brother Christopher Jabob Renteria of Odessa, maternal grandparents Ruben and Manuela Mariscal of Pecos and paternal grandparents Pablo and Victoria Renteria of Pecos.

Gabriel Rubio, Jr.

Gabriel Rubio Jr., three months, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, in Dallas.

Services are scheduled for Monday, Dec. 2 in Dallas.

He was born Aug. 29, 2002 and was a Catholic.

Survivors include his parents, Gabriel and Jinny Pak Rubio of Dallas, formerly of Pecos; one half brother, Allen Symoniak of Chicago, Ill; paternal grandparents, Manuel and Socorro Rubio of Dallas, formerly of Pecos; maternal grandmother, Bae Suk Yon of Korea; two aunts, Rosa and her husband, Philip Cervantes of Dallas, Evelyn Rubio of Dallas and one uncle, Luis Manuel Rubio of Dallas;

Consuelo Cabral

Consuelo Ruiz Cabral, 74, of Pecos, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Saturday and 7:30 p.m., Sunday, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born May 4, 1928, in McNary, Tx., was a housewife and a Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, Teodoro M. Cabral of Pecos; three daughters, Rosemary Varela of Pecos, Lydia Secor and her husband, Mike of Dallas, Mary Tarango and her husband, Gaston of Pecos; two sons, Theodore Cabral and Manuel Cabral and his wife, Marisela of Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 grandchildren, Frances Varela, Theodore and Brenden Cabral, Miranda, Whitney and Micah Secor, Mateo and Marissa Tarango, Amanda and Beto Cabral; one great-grandchild, Alejandra Varela.

Irene Holm

Irene Holm, 90, died Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in North Richland Hills.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 29, at Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos with Rev. Bruce Abbott officiating.

There will be a gathering afterward for family and friends at 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Pecos.

She was born June 27, 1912, in Copland, moved to Pecos in 1946, was active in the First United Methodist Church and moved to Ft. Worth in 1997 to be near her brother and daughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Carl F. Holm in 1995 and one sister, Adelle Blomquist.

Survivors include one son, Ralph Holm; one daughter, Deanna Kay Miller of Ft. Worth; one brother, Fleet Wilson of Ft. Worth and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Holm's wishes were that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Pecos, 301 S. Elm, Pecos, Tx. 79772.

Lewis Cowart

Lewis Edward Cowart, 83, of Pecos, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Greer Willis officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Stephens County, had served in the Airforce-Army Corp., was the business manager for Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD for many years and was a Baptist.

Survivors include his wife, Ione Coward of Pecos; one son, Michael Ray Cowart of Arkdelphia, Ark.; two daughters, Linda June Clontz of Ft. Worth, Carol Ann Bagley of Saragosa and four grandchildren.

Services for Irene Holm, 90, who died today, Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in North Richland Hills.

James Desmond Locker

James Desmond Locker, 79, of Richland Springs, died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 27, at the First Baptist Church of Richland Springs with Dr. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will be in Richland Springs Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 20, 1922, in Hall Valley, San Saba County, served in the United States Army in the Philippines and Korea, was a member of the Aggie Alumnae Association, Richland Springs Cemetery Association, and the Water Conservation Board in San Saba. He received a plaque from the Texas Agriculture Department recognizing 100 years of ranching in his family.

Locker was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathryn Locker on Oct. 24, 2001, and one brother, Maynard Locker.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie C. Locker of Richland Springs; two sons, James Locker, Jr. of Austin, Darrell Locker of Monahans; one daughter, Lisa Ehlert of College Station; one brother Olan Locker of Brady; one sister, Beryl Wells of Levelland; one aunt and several nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu flowers memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Josephine Shultz, 92, of Pecos, died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at the  Pecos Nursing Home.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. J.E. McCormick officiating.

She was born Oct. 29, 1909, in Chicago, Ill., was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Charles Shultz of Virginia Beach, Va.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Delfina G. Nunez, 77, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

A public talk will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 21, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Presidio, was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.

Nunez was preceded in death by her husband, Eriberto Nunez; one son and two sisters.

Survivors include one son, Joe Galindo of Corpus Christi; four daughters, Agueda Lujan and Blanca P. Hernandez of Pecos, Adelina Rodriguez of Conroe, Linda Ornelas of Odessa; two brothers, Rito and Tanis Galindo of Pecos; one sister, Maria Lares of Pecos; 20 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Lola Byrd

Lola Faye "Sally" Byrd, 86, died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, in Arlington.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., today, at Covenant United Methodist Church, in Arlington. Burial will be held Tuesday in Balmorhea Cemetery.

She was born June 7, 1916, in Plainview, Ark. and in 2000 and 2001, won the "Yard of the Month" in Snyder.

Survivors include one daughter, Darlene Chandler; one brother, Cletus Grady; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Enrique Leyva

Enrique "Henry" Leyva, 65, of Pecos, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at Odessa Medical Center.

A rosary will be held, today, Friday, Nov. 15, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Ben Flores. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

He was born June 2, 1937, in Saragosa, was a retired transport truck driver, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Sulema Leyva of Odessa; two sons, Enrique "Kiki" Leyva of Carlsbad, N.M., Kevin Leyva of Odessa; one daughter, Melissa L. Garcia of Odessa; two brothers, Joe and Ysmael Leyva of Pecos; one sister, Senida "Cindy" Hernandez of Pecos and three grandchildren.

Jesus Bejarano, 75, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

He was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Presidio, was a lifetime Pecos resident, a retired laborer and a Catholic.

Juan Lopez

Juan G. Lopez, 65, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in Pecos.

Mass was held at 11 a.m., today, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born June 16, 1937, in Cuchillo Parado, Chihuahua, Mexico, was a long time Pecos resident, a laborer and a Catholic.

Survivors include four sons, Irineo Lopez of Artesia, N.M., Manuel and Ramon Lopez of Ojinaga, Chih., Mexico, Arturo Lopez of Midland; two step-sons, Armando Martinez of El Paso, Alfredo Martinez of Pecos; two daughters, Ramona and Armida Lopez of Ojinaga, Chih., Mexico, three step-daughters, Linda Herrera and Irma Leon of Pecos, Adelaida Martinez of Ft. Worth; two brothers, Gregorio Lopez of Artesia, N.M., Celestino Lopez of Ft. Hancock; one sister, Santos Ybarra of Pecos and eight grandchildren.

Daniel C. Venegas, 84, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at the Ft. Stockton Nursing Center.

Survivors include two daughters, Araceli Vickrey of Odessa, Dorinda Millan of Pecos; two brothers, Guadalupe and Ireneo Venegas of Pecos; two sisters, Trinidad Venegas of Pecos, Enriqueta Gonzales of Ft. Stockton; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mildred "Millie" Catherine Hoefs

Mildred "Millie" Catherine Hoefs, a true West Texas lady, went home to our Lord on November 10, 2002. Millie was born the first child of James and Jamie Van Deren in Pecos, Texas.

Millie married Alan Hoefs on June 1, 1937, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. They traveled throughout the U.S. before and after their retirement; they shared love, laughter, and memories for 65 years. She took pride in raising her family. She was not just a mother or a grandmother, she was a friend. She lived life to the fullest and tried to experience all that life had to offer. During her formative years, she learned to play the classical violin and the piano. She not only enjoyed music, but was also, a gifted poet, seamstress and enjoyed all types of crafts. Being a rancher and farmers wife she was involved with all aspects of ranching and farming, also working as a full charge bookkeeper for Hoban Cotton Gin during the cotton boom.

Her husband Alan C. Hoefs, sister Dycie Van Deren, two daughters Barbara Ellen Anderson and Dycie Mae Hoefs precede her in death.

Survivors include her daughter Margaret, and her husband Vincent Duncan, three grandchildren, Sindy, and her husband, Mitchell McLain, Sherry, and her husband Larry Jones, Donna and her husband Michael Dodson. As well as, eight great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Special thanks to Grace Box and Jessica Perea, as well as, the Perea family. Pallbearers will be Vincent Duncan, Mitchell McLain, Larry Jones and Brad Merchant.

Arcadio Baeza, Sr.

Arcadio P. Baeza, Sr., 82, of Pecos, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Odessa Regional Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 14, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Baeza was born April 22, 1920, in San Antonio Del Bravo, Mexico, was a lifetime resident, a retired ranch hand and machinist and a Catholic.

Survivors include four sons, Oscar and Arcadio Baeza Jr. of Pecos, David Baeza of Odessa, Benino Baeza of Roswell, N.M.; one daughter, Francis Flores of Barstow; numerous nieces and nephews; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Maria Victoria Garcia, an infant, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002.

She was born Monday, Nov. 11, at Reeves County Hospital in Pecos and was a Catholic.

Survivors include her parents, Isela Garcia and Damaso Holguin Jr. of Pecos; maternal grandparents, Imelda Jimenez of Pecos and Ramon Garcia of N.M.; paternal grandparents, Damaso and Emilia Holguin of Pecos; four brothers, Damaso III, Alexander, Jaime, Kevin Holguin, all of Pecos.

She was born Dec. 17, 1919, in Pecos, was a retired bookkeeper, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Methodist.

Hoefs was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Hoefs; two daughters and her parents.

Survivors include one daughter, Margaret Aline Duncan of Breckenridge; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Luciano "Chano" Mata, 89, of Pecos, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

He was born Nov. 5, 1913, in Casa Piedras, Tx., served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, was a retired maintenance man who worked with the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD and a Catholic.

Survivors include one son, Fred Mata of Odessa; one daughter, Susie Granado of Pecos; two brothers, Alberto Rojo of Alpine, Benjamin Rojo of Fort Stockton; four sisters, Rebecca Estor, Herminia Martinez, Elisa Rodriguez of Marfa, Elvira Villanueva of Odessa; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Elva F. Rayos, 81, of Pecos, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at a hospital in Del Rio. Mass was held at noon today, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Ben Flores officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. She was born Feb. 27, 1921, in Marfa, was a homemaker and a Catholic. Rayos was preceded in death by her husband in 1995. Survivors include six sons, Andres and Peter Rayos of Odessa, Dennis Rayos of Pecos, Celestino Rayos, Jr. of Houston, Jose and Alfredo Florez of Odessa; five daughters, Angelina R. Salinas of Del Rio, Barbara Atencio of Midland, Irma Florez Rayos of Phoenix, Ariz., Melissa Ann Miramontes of Michigan, Cheryl Lynn R. Jessie Glenn

Jessie Bell Glenn, 75, of Dayton, Tx., died Nov. 6, 2002.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002, at the Old River Baptist Church, FM 1409 in Old River, Tx., with Brother Danny Biddy. Graveside services will be held at the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 9.

She was born Jan. 26, 1927, in Mixon, Tx., to Hubert and Leora Crow McWilliams.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Glenn; one son, Clifton E. Glenn and grandson, Wendell Broyles.

Mrs. Glenn is survived by her children: Patricia Broyles, Lora M. Posey, James R. Glenn, and wife, Gaye, and Bill Glenn and wife, Mary; grandchildren, Jerry Willis, Glenn Posey and wife, Teresa, Richard Posey, April Posey, Kirk Posey and wife, Dee D., Shannon Glenn, Clint Glenn, Lisa Glenn, Randi Glenn and husband, Steven and nine great-grandchildren.

She was born May 4, 1928, in Hollywood, N.M., was a retired bookkeeper and a member of the First Christian Church.

Survivors include one son, Lonnie Ray Richards of Celina, Tx.; one daughter, Rose Mary Scroggins of Pecos; one sister, Artie Elizabeth Luck of Pecos; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
