Jerry Wayne Crisp

Jerry Wayne Crisp of Pecos, Texas passed from this life  October 25, 2002, in Hospice House, Odessa, Texas, after a long and  valiant battle against cancer. Born August 29, 1943 to Alfred and Ruth  Whitfield Crisp, in Helena, AR., he was a Phillips and Monroe Counties,  AR farmer from 1967-1985. He moved his family to West Texas and  worked in the ranching and cattle industry from 1986-2001.

Jerry was a man of many accomplishments, but he was most appreciative of his loving, supportive family and friends. Salutatorian of the 1961 Marvell High School graduating class, he received the American Legion Distinguished Achievement Award. Jerry graduated with a B.S. degree in 1967 from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, where he was a member of the Arkansas Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He belonged to Lafayette Lodge #189 of Free and Accepted Masons in West Helena, AR, was a 32nd. Degree Mason, and a member of the Scimitar Shrine Temple. An avid reader and perpetual student of history, Jerry was a life-long hunter and outdoorsman, an Eagle Scout, a life member of National Rifle Association, member of Pecos Rifle, Pistol and Trap Club, and a supporter of many nature and wildlife preservation organizations.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Jamie Armstrong Crisp of Pecos; one son, Jerry (Jay) W. Crisp, Jr.; one daughter, Carrol Michael Crisp Lujan, both of Odessa, Texas and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 29 at 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Pecos, arranged by Pecos Funeral Home. The family requests that memorials be made to any hospice organizations, cancer research or to your favorite charity.

Alfred Carrasco

Alfred Carrasco, 67, of Monahans, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Ward Memorial Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 8 p.m., today, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, in Monahans.

Mass is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. John's Catholic Church with Father John Lucido officiating. Burial will be in Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Barstow, was a retired pumper for Texaco and was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Carrasco of Monahans; one son, Alfred Carrasco, Jr. of Monahans; two daughters, Debbie Ann Carrasco Vasquez of Odessa, Guadalupe Carrasco DeAnda of Odessa; one brother, Luis Carrasco of Monahans; four sisters, Manuela Estorga, Sabina Franco, Emma Espinosa and Aurora Carrasco of Monahans; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Joe Osborn

Joe Osborn, 60, of Pecos, died today, Friday, Oct. 25, 2002, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, at Toyah Cemetery.

Michael Rodriguez

Michael Louis "Mike" Rodriguez, 43, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 8:30 p.m., today, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Miguel Angel Sanchez officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

Rodriguez was born Sept. 19, 1959, in Pecos, was an oilfield worker, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jose B. and Gregoria Salcido and Aguedo and Luz Rodriguez.

Survivors include his parents, Eusebio E. and Alicia S. Rodriguez of Pecos; two sons, Michael Rubio of Ft. Worth, Andy Gonzales of Odessa; two brothers, Robert Rodriguez of Gardendale, Gabriel Rodriguez and his wife, Nanette of Midland; three sisters, Helen Esparza and her husband, Jesse of Midland, Sylvia Garcia and her husband, Pete of Pecos and Amy Irene Rodriguez of Midland.

Teodoro SiFuentes

Teodoro SiFuentes, 71, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at Greenwood Cemetery with Father Ben Flores officiating.

He was born Oct. 20, 1931, was a retired laborer and a Catholic.

Maria de la Luz Aguilar

Maria de la Luz Aguilar, 85, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 25, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 24, 1917, in Pecos, was a lifetime Pecos resident, a homemaker and a Catholic.

Aguilar was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Aguilar, Sr.

Survivors include four sons, Eugene Aguilar, Jr. of Pecos, John Aguilar of Wichita, Kansas, Jesse Aguilar of Lancaster, Calif., Larry Aguilar of Hurst; three daughters, Socorro Ramon of Baytown, Lupe Lyles and Josie Breese of Pecos; one brother, Elias Marquez of Pecos; two sisters, Jessie Perez of California, Magdalena Abila of Pecos; 18 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Dulces Bejaran

Dulces Nombres Bejaran, 59, of Monahans, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Monahans with Pastor Mark Bristow officiating. Burial will be in the Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 23, 1943 in Terlingua, to Simona and Jose Morales. She married Benny Bejaran on Aug. 10, 1963 in Saragosa.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend and will be dearly missed. She was a member of Grace Fellowship Church in Monahans.

Bejaran is survived by her loving husband, Benny Bejaran of Monahans; five sons, Edward and Jesse Bejaran of Monahans, Robert Bejaran of Odessa, Benny Bejaran, Jr. of Del Rio, Joe Bejaran of Bridgeport, 10 grandchildren, six brothers, Armando Morales of Saragosa, Manuel Morales of Monahans, Juaquin Morales of Roswell, N.M., Tranquilino Morales of Pleasanton, Felix Morales of Paris, Tx., Ramon Morales of Kossie, Tx. and one sister, Senorina Nunez of Monahans.

Petra Garcia Lara, 74, of Pecos, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Toyah Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 19, 1928, in Toyah, was a homemaker, a long time Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Lara was preceded in death by her husband, Donaciano Lara Sr. and one son, Oscar Lara.

Survivors include one son, Donaciano Lara Jr. of Grand Prairie; five daughters, Mary Carrillo, Priscilla Garcia, Olga Armendariz and Sulema Florez of Pecos, Rebecca Prieto of Odessa; one sister, Ramona Chavez of Holland, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Jim Tom Kelton

Jim Tom Kelton, 81, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

Services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at First Christian Church with Rev. Clark Ford officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Pecos, was a retired rancher, was a veteran who served with the U.S. Marines in World War II, a lifelong Pecos resident and a member of the First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Jo Bob Kelton.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Kelton of Pecos; one son, Bob Kelton of Pecos; one daughter, Janell Kelton of Monahans; one sister, Melba Younce of Houston and three grandchildren.

Maria Miramontes

Maria Dolorez Miramontes, 74, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Cusihuiriachic, Chih., Mexico, was a lifelong Pecos resident, a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, Victoriano Murillo Miramontes of Pecos; four sons, Victor Mario Miramontes of Midland, Gerardo Miramontes of Las Cruces, N.M., Jesus Miramontes of Dearborn, Michigan, Francisco Miramontes of Lubbock; four daughters, Mary Margaret Shelkey, Lupe Bishop of Midland, Ana Maria Miramontes Roquemore of Dallas, Maria Dolores Dearman of San Antonio; one sister, Maria De La Luz Alvarado De Chacon of Chihuahua, Mexico; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Jessie C. Anchondo, 35, of Kermit, formerly of Pecos, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., today, at Chapel at Family Services Funeral Parlor, in Kermit.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit, with Father John Lucido officiating. Burial will be in Kermit Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 9, 1967, in Ojinaga, Chih., Mexico, was employed as a truck driver by Eddins-Walcher in Kermit, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and served as the President of the K-Band Booster Club. He was a resident of Kermit for 13 years, having moved there from Pecos.

Survivors include his wife, Maria Pena Anchondo of Kermit; two daughters, Jessi Ann and Arianna Anchondo of Kermit; one son, Joe Brian Anchondo of Kermit; three sisters, Anna Alicia Rodriguez of Odessa, Marisol Anchondo of Baytown, Carmina Anchondo of Pecos; two brothers, Benny Anchondo, Jr. of Pasadena and Guillermo Anchondo of Pecos.

Services for Jim Bob Kelton, 91, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

Francisco "Ponchito" Baeza, 76, of Pecos, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, in Pecos.

He was born May 11, 1926, in Tierras Nuevas, Chih., Mexico, was a retired painter, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Margarita V. Baeza of Pecos; two sons, Ruben and Joe Baeza of Pecos; two daughters, Francisca Lozano and Carmen Hinojos of Pecos; two brothers, Alfonso Baeza of Presidio, Robert Baeza of Pico Rivera, Calif.; two sisters, Manuela Proano of Ojinaga, Chih., Mexico, Librada De Anda of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Lorene M. Nunn

Evelyn Lorene Miller Nunn went home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2002. She was born January 1, 1913 in Minden, Louisiana. Evelyn led a very full life and gave of her many talents to many. She is a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Pecos where she served in many capacities over the years.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Nunn and her granddaughter, Kathleen Nunn, of Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by one son, Melvin and his wife Maxine Nunn of Albuquerque, NM and one daughter Shirley and her husband Jim Johnson of Conroe, Texas and her brother Ronald and his wife Fanora Miller Of Pecos, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen Johnson and his wife Elizabeth of Hurst, Texas; Lisa Johnson of Houston, Texas; Jannette Smith of Albuquerque, NM; Bradley Nunn and his wife Janet of Albuquerque, NM; Barry Johnson and his wife Lisa of Friendswood, Texas and Blake Nunn and wife Tammy of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by her 14 great-grandchildren. Evelyn was also very devoted to many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her great grandchildren, Dustin Johnson, Brandon Nunn, Bruce Nunn, Andrew Sanderson, Jeremy Sanderson, Christopher Flint and Baylor Johnson and her two nephews, Johnny Miller and Dale Miller.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Pecos on Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services to follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. Under the direction of Pecos Funeral Home.

Robert Fuentes

Robert Fuentes, 31, of Pecos died Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at the Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, TX.

Fuentes was born in Pecos on May 5, 1971 to Santiago and Maria Fuentes of Pecos. He was an LVN at the Midland Memorial Hospital.

Services for Fuentes will be held tomorrow, October 11 beginning with a church service at Santa Rosa Catholic Church at 2 p.m., with Father Ben Flores officiating. The burial will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery.

A viewing is also scheduled for today, October 10 at the Peaceful Garden Home Chapel beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Angie Fuentes of Midland, parents, Santiago and Maria Fuentes of Pecos, his grandparent, Pilar Aguilera of Pecos, a brother, Eduardo Contreras Fuentes of Pecos and a sister, Sylvia Fuentes Cazares of Pecos.

Anastacio Acosta

Anastacio Acosta, Jr., 81, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, in Lubbock.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 10, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Miguel Angel Sanchez officiating. Burial will be in Barstow Cemetery.

He was born April 27, 1921, in Alpine, was a retired construction worker, a veteran of the United States Army, who served in WWII, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include five sons, Raymond, Marino, Raul, Robert and Arthur Acosta, all of Oklahoma City, Okla.; five daughters, Cruz Acosta, Josephina Acosta, Delma Esquivel, Anita Soliz and Gloria Acosta, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; three sisters, Benita Tarin of Pecos, Vecienta Acosta of Carlsbad, N.M., Lucia Fuentes of Lubbock; 48 grandchildren and 18 nieces and nephews.

Cresencio "Chris" Machuca, 61, of Pecos, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

Mass was held at 11 a.m., today, Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 1, 1941, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, was a correctional officer, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Margarita Machuca of Pecos; his mother, Paula Machuca of Pecos; five sons, Israel Machuca of Midland, Gabriel Machuca and Joseph Paul Machuca of Odessa, Joe Chris Machuca of San Antonio; one daughter, Christine Machuca of Odessa; one brother, Felix Machuca of Pecos; four sisters, Nicolasa Montoya and Dulces Martinez of Pecos, Manuela Martinez and Alicia Acosta of Odessa and seven grandchildren.

Harry Nagel

Harry W. Nagel, Jr., 71, of Pecos, died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at his residence.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 9, at San Geronimo Cemetery in Seguin.

He was born Feb. 20, 1931, in McQueeney, Tx., was a veteran of the United States Army, had lived in Pecos since 1989 and was a retired city manager for the Town of Pecos City.

Survivors include his wife, Nelda Nagel of Pecos; one step-son, Les Phillips of Pineville, Louisiana; three daughters, Laurie Reese of Lake Worth, Donna Webb and Lisa Hill of Saginaw; one step-daughter, Sammye Risinger of Carrollton and seven grandchildren.

Pedro "Pete" Abila, 78, of Pecos, died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, at his residence.

Mass was held at 11 a.m., today, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Miguel Angel Sanchez officiating. Burial was in Barstow Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 9, 1924, in Barstow, was a retired concrete mixer, a veteran who fought in the Korean War and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Paula Abila of Pecos; one son, Robert "Fats" Abila of Pecos; one daughter, Becky Silvas of Pecos; three brothers, Luis Abila of Barstow, Manuel Avila of Barstow, Jesus Abila of Andrews; three grandchildren and five grandchildren.

Roy Hicks

Lee Roy Hicks, 65, of Roswell, N.M., died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, in White Sands, N.M.

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, at Memory Lawn Memorial Park.

He was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Paducah, Cottle County, Tx., was a gunsmith and owned his own gun shop before retiring and returning to Roswell a year ago. He was a motorcyle enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his father, Artie Hicks in 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Hicks of Roswell; one daughter, Kristy Watkins of Amarillo; his mother, Laddie Hicks Lenhart of San Angelo; one foster daughter, Elsa Sparks of San Antonio; one brother, James E. Hicks of San Angelo; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a favorite charity.
