Do you remember? Ford Falcon's were cool? Bens Spanish Inn? Dancing at the Posse Barn? When going to jail in Pecos meant getting your hair sheared if you were a "man"? David Lewis and his band? Draggin round Al's? Crawdaddin' on the canal? The trail ride?

I am looking for a phone no. or email address for a girl I went to school with in Pecos in around 1990. Her name was Susan Slack. Her dad was Tommy Slack, who is deceased. I think she is in San Antonio now, but not for sure. If anyone knows her whereabouts please let me know. My email is dickandjane@bellsouth.net . Thanks a lot Tanya

I wanted to send out a cheer for the planning committee of the 1984 Class Reunion that was held recently. The variety of activities and attention to detail was excellent. We appreciate all the hours of planning you put in "behind the scenes" to make our experience a memorable one. I heard all but positive comments from our classmates and I hope all of the members of the committee feel confident that their efforts did not go unnoticed. A big thanks goes out to local businesses and establishments for their high quality of service and for the door prize donations. (We hope we were able to "stimulate the economy" enough to make a difference in your numbers this month!!) Thank you to school district personnel for helping make our walk down memory lane a success. To the classmates and their families: It was good to see all of you and know that you all are doing well. I wish many blessings upon you and yours including love, determination, and personal success. You know, it has been said that you should never forget from where you came. I would like to amend that saying by adding, that you should also be PROUD of WHERE you came because the upbringing and education we received make us who we are today. If I had to give you advice, I would say to live EVER moment to its fullest. One of my favorite sayings is, "Dance as if no one is watching." (Although I did my share this weekend...) What I mean is to don't be afraid to think outside the box. Dare to follow your dreams and work hard to MAKE them come true. This can improve the quality of life for you and your children. On a side note: I would be willing to take the reigns on planning for our reunion cruise!! I will look for the reunion website we discussed and hopefully be able to post pricing information and so forth. I know it's early, but let's not drop the ball on this one! It was a wonderful idea! Remember to start saving now! I'm thinking only class of '84 graduates and their family??? I hope everyone had a safe trip home and may God watch over the class of '84. Yours, Jannette Reyes

If anyone out there receives this in a timely manner, just want to let you all know of the passing of Mr. Dean Price from Peyote, Texas. I know he had many friends from Pecos. There will be a graveside service for him on Monday, September 13 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pyote Cemetery. I don't know how long it takes to post this, but the sooner it gets out, would be appreciated. I know hid family would love to hear from the folks in Pecos and Barstow. Please keep him and his family in your hearts through this difficult and sad time.

ATTENTION PHS CLASS OF 1975!!!! Hard to believe, but it's been almost 30 YEARS since we threw those strange cardboard hats in the air ( were we ALL only 12 when we graduated, or just me? lol).......anyway, it's time to start talking ...... REUNION!!!! Apparently there's some opinion that I am still the class MOUTH, because I've been asked to tell everyone that 1) it's been pretty much decided that the reunion will probably be held in the spring or early summer of 2005 (before it gets too hot) and 2) the reunion is being exported, probably to the Dallas area, in hopes that a more central location will help increase the attendance. (The committee's first official meeting is August 24....details to follow.)

In the meantime, we really need to round up three decades of "lost sheep".... so, if you: a) Graduated in 1975 b) SHOULD have graduated in 1975 c) WISH you had graduated in 1975 (arguably the best class in the history of PHS) d) Are related to / keep in contact with a member of the class and know where they're hiding (if they're in the witness protection program, we'll welcome them under their AKA and pretend not to know them) e) Or would like to attend the reunion for any reason OTHER than wanting to sell us something............. .........please email Cliff Davis ( cccmdavis@aol.com ) and let us know how to reach everyone.... the sooner the better, for purposes of planning, but even if you don't see this til like next February, we'll try to accommodate you with a cold beverage and a peanut butter sandwich just for SHOWING UP!!! (We'd like to hear from EVERYONE, even if they can't attend!!) Now, come on, people, and flood Cliff's email inbox.....he doesn't have NEARLY enough to do!! Respectfully submitted, Peggy McCracken Goddard, Youngest member of the Class of '75 (pegzboots@aol.com)

Howdy Bill, You are about the most ancient correspondent I have seen in the Pecos Gab. I am from the class of "42". You probably remember my sister Marjory "39" and brother Marion "36" both of whom are now deceased. I email a lot with your cousin Peggy Daniel who was a year behind me. She has mentioned that you and her correspond.

I have never been able to figure out why more of the old coots like us are not more email active. I am sure you know Billy Frank Davenport. He has a computer but steadfastly refuses to get on the email junket. He does however use a telephone. I am not sure if he reads a paper or not.LOL. I have bcc'd a bunch of Pecos Xs for your info. The ones like myself that have only a screen name listed are aol members and you should add "@aol.com" to the email address.?Like ?slikslak@aol.com . raymackt@comcast.net ?has a data base of pecos folk that he would probably send to you if you want it. Wilfred Owen also has a database of Pecosites of the "42" genre'. Hey Pecos Gab! Who is the most senior of your respondents? Why don't you publish a list of the Email addresses for the various classes. ? Jim Slack Class of "42"

I'd like to pass along some observations to anyone that may care. I lived in Pecos from 1968 - 1975, and my parents moved away about 1980. On July 3rd, I made my first trip to Pecos in about 15 years to see a couple of people I haven't seen in that period of time. Quite frankly, I was appalled at the condition the town has deteriorated into. The neighborhood we lived in had what appeared to be abandoned homes that have been vandalized - only 2 blocks from the high school. I once worked at the Orbit Car Wash - it's gone. When my Dad was transferred to the Pyote plant, they chose to live in Pecos instead of Monahans because Pecos was so much 'cleaner looking'; we lived at the Best Western Motel at the corner of Hwy 80 & Hwy 17 for 2 weeks awaiting the moving company to bring our belonging to town ... that motel is now gone. Once the premier restaurant in town, Ben's Spanish Inn, is now closed down and the lot is over grown. I can vividly recall the downtown as bustling & vibrant, with most of the parking spaces occupied - it's now virtually deserted and boarded up. I once worked at the Western Auto store across from the Post Office, I worked at the movie theater, my Mother worked at the Sears store and I'd occasionally go have lunch with her at the Woolworths .... it's all a distant memory with nothing there to show, except that the theater is there, but "For Sale". I was told that the town is utilizing only 2 elementary schools & only the West side Junior High school now. I encourage anyone with fond memories of Pecos to cherish those memories; I don't expect Pecos to recover in my lifetime. Although I was not witness to the transition, I would suspect that the demise of the downtown business area can be attributed to the arrival of the Wal-Mart store, but that is only speculation. I realize that Pecos is not an isolated case, many small towns have suffered a similar fate, but it had a different impact when I saw those results in my own 'home town'. "Live long and prosper." Robert D. Van Vickle SR'75

Hey 84! Are we going to get off our arse and have a dang reunion or not. Haven't had anyone try to find me or try to get in touch with Russ, Terry K., Phil, etc. I know where they are if anyone needs their address and phone numbers. I'm still in Arlington, driving all over Dallas/Ft. Worth for a local trucking company. Looks like Jess M. is the only one that has been on here looking for our class. I'll help if I can. But you know how I'll be, once I start B.S.ing about the past with someone, I'll start opening one Bud at a time and by the time I finish off a couple 8 packs of Baby Buds, remember them, I'll forget all about what I started out to do, so keep me focused. Can't believe we've waited this late. HOMECOMING? What, are we going to the pep-rally and try to play cheerleaders again and fail on building a pyramid. Or get drunk and try and find the guy from Zavala with the same jersey number on and pick a fight. Didn't work out to great last time. LOL Hope this gets to someone I know. Take care and hope we get something going in the next couple of months. Jason McMahan

Hi, Just wanted to give an update on the Class of '94 reunion and hoping that you could post this as soon as possible. Please call or email Manuel Ramirez at jalapenoramirez@yahoo.com for more information or you can email me (April Rodriguez- Gonzalez) or call me at 512-659-8993 as well. Below is the information Manuel has posted. To vote on what you would like, again, email Manuel and he will take care of the rest. Thanks, April (Rodriguez) Gonzalez

Classmates, Hey hope everyone is doing great. I'm organizing the reunion for the Class of 1994. The more cooperation the better. The reunion dates will be as follows: Those interested we can build a float for the parade I believe its July 1, 2004- Thursday July 2, 2004- Friday Tour the school around 3:00 p.m. Then party at night somewhere at some club in Pecos. July 3, 2004- Saturday Reception at Riverside Dance Hall, time still pending for reception Dance at night starts at 9:00 p.m. till they kick us out These are the items we need to vote on: *Do we want to have church for the class before the reception on Saturday. *Do we want a band or a disc jockey(DJ), I was trying to get Impression but unfortunately Mark Alvarez wont be able to make it to the reunion still looking for another band. Were gonna miss you Mark. *Do we want it catered or cook our own food. If catered it will be $5.00 - $7.00 per head, include your entire family including parents are welcomed. *Do we want to decorate the hall, if so who wants to head that up. *Do we want champagne and wine for the toast, grape juice for the non-drinkers. *Do we want to charge at the door to make sure we cover our expenses.

So far there is a lot of hype, but there are still lots of people I have not contacted or who don't know. Let's all help out on this and inform everyone. Check out the email list and send me the people who are not on the list, if not send me their phone numbers. Go through your yearbooks and make sure no one is forgotten. We are a very tight class, let's make this happen. I need replies ASAP. It looks like it will probably be around $50.00 per classmate. That covers you and your other half. Includes dance and reception. If you get a VIP pass its $100.00 dollars you can bring in six people dance and reception. Spread the word. Every time the class of 1994 does something whether it was wrong (Monahans) or right we make history let's do it again. Everyone check out phs93.com I'm gonna ask Ray Fuentes the webmaster if he will let us post on that site and use the chat room on that site. Keep me informed about anything. Manny S. I am writing this letter in hopes I will reach someone who remembers Dr. John Paul Dunn. Dr. Dunn was my Grandfather, many of you may remember him as a predominate member of Pecos society in the late 50's and early 60's. He was the town doctor, I believe he was also on the Board of Directors for Reeves County Hospital, as well as held a seat on the Pecos School Board. However, some of my facts my be somewhat skewed.

Dr. Dunn passed away many years ago and up to that point never discussed the details surrounding my family leaving Pecos in 1962. I do know he left because of the increasing threat that stemmed from the investigation of Billy Sol Estes, but that is all I know. I am trying compile information on the investigation of Estes, but information seems to be in short supply. I have grown up all my life hearing family legend, now I would like to know fact. If there is anyone out there that had connections with my grandfather I would be forever grateful to hear from you. I have heard there is actually a small museum somewhere near Lubbock that has attempted to catalog the information, but I cannot put my finger on the name.

Aside from the investigation...I would be glad to hear from anyone who would care to share stories, newspaper articles, photos, of anything else related to my grandfather.

Thank you, Clayton Dunn 2901 Ridgeview Dr. #1523 Plano, TX 75025 972 437-0631
