This is for all my friends who haven't bothered to keep in touch! You know who you are. I'm Isaiah Marquez (class of '93) and I'm in Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division. Sometimes I need to focus my mind on something other than the fact that I'm over here. So, if you know me, email me, and let me know how you're doing. isaiahmarquez@yahoo.com or isaiah.f.marquez@army.mil

To All Former Classmates And Friends,
Sorry we missed the class of "82" 20th PHS reunion, Charla was in
Pecos the month before taking care of some property issues with her Mom,
Dad and rest of family. We both wanted to attend the reunion but were
unable to because of our boys involvement with Little League, our oldest son
Jimmy (16) was playing in the senior division and our youngest son Derek
(12) was playing in the major division. Derek's team won the district
championship and made it to the state championship game where they lost 3
to 2. We all are doing fine in southern Maryland but miss the Pecos
hospitality. Thanks to the folks who continue to make the reunions a
success, we plan on being there for the 30th (wow). I'm a supervisor at
Boeing at Pax River Naval Air Station and Charla is trying to stay up with our
six children who seem to be involved in everything. We would love to hear
from our old high school friends.
Wishing All The Best,

I am a 1967 graduate of Pecos High and I visit Pecos
about 3-4 times a year to visit family. However, this
July 4th I was in town for th 60's reunion and I am
very glad to say that it was very well organized. Saw
many "old" friends and picked up about 10 email
address cards. The golf tournament coordinated by Mr
Nicols was great and the decorations at the dance
brought back many good memories.
But what I really want to say is that I never attended
a Rodeo during my upbringing in Pecos until July 4 and
I didn't realize what an amazing sport/skill it is and
the turnout was tremendous (every night). The young
girl that sang the Anthem and the prayer by the
announcer said it all.."We stand proud of our liberty"
for which many have shed blood and we enjoy its
benefits.

Greetings,
My name is Florinda Wallace, I have been trying to locate family (dead and alive) from Pecos for my grandparents. I am hoping to compile information and pictures into a scrapbook for them. Unfortunately, I have not had much luck and so I have decided to ask if you can assist me. I am looking for a starting point to check and some information of ancestors that are buried and living in Pecos. My great-grandfather was David Gochicoa and my great-grandmother is Lorenza Navarette-Gochicoa (on my grandmother's side), I think my great-grandfather was the Justice of the Peace. My great-grandmother had at least 5 sisters and 2 brothers.
My grandfather is Elias Rios Dominguez and I do not have much information on his family other
than he had a few brothers living in Pecos. I think one of them was name Husto Dominguez and I
think there was Fred Dominguez . Another brother of my grandfather had a little general store on a corner. My grandparents are in their late 80's and 90's and I am 45 years old. I want to show them that their heritage will be passed to each generation and that they will not be forgotten.
God Bless,

I was recently in Pecos for my 20th year reunion. I want to publicly thank my classmates who
remained in Pecos and ensured that we had a dynamic, warm and inspiring visit with our
classmates.
As we have moved away from Pecos and established ourselves elsewhere, there is still a part of us
that yearns to be home and to know of home.
I had the time of my life this weekend. For anyone who missed this reunion. You missed an
awesome event.
Thank you Nancy, Peggy, Marina, Dolores, Angie, Janice, Rhonda, Barbara, and anyone else who
helped. I love all of you and it was truly wonderful to see everyone.
Brother Workman, thank you for visiting with us. You are a part of each of us and we are a part of
you. We love you and appreciate all you have fought to pass on.
I hope we can get together for a 25th Reunion and that many more of our classmates will attend.
Much love to all and thank you Pecos for giving me my roots...With love and respect....Ana Maria Miramontes-Roquemore

I was sifting through the archives , when I came across that article about that young kid. Even though I was a

ever happened to Brian, or does anybody know?? Im gonna be a homeboy forever, nothing can change that no
matter what. As i was reading through the archives and pictures it brought back some memories , good and bad
both. But since we are older now we will stand strong and carry on. Igo back from time to time since i still
have family there.
I kinda miss that town of Pecos in a way, though its sad to know Woolsworth and the other shops are gone
now. I guess Pecos is drying up and has been for many years. Seems every time I get there it gets worse. Any

Subject: RE: Good morning!
gtoone@texas.net
Hello to all my Pecos area friends, both past and present!! This is George
Toone with an update on my whereabouts and goings on for those of you who
are interested. I have now been transferred to Houston and am the Regional
Director of the Texas Commission for the Blind. I supervise 38 employees
and our region covers five counties. Doesn't sound like much because in
Abilene when I was a counselor with this agency, I covered 16 counties.
Quite a difference between Abilene and Houston.
I have been with this agency now for ten years, this June 8, and have worked
my way up the food chain in a fair amount of time. There are still a couple
of steps up from where I am. There are 12 regions around the state so there
are 12 Regional Directors. We have Deputy Directors above us and then, the
Executive Director. The only bad part about those positions is that I would
have to move back to Austin and I just left Austin after three years. I
hated that place and would have taken a cotton chopping job or just about
anything to move from there. Of course, the experience I got from the job I
had in Austin prepared me for the job I have now.
Those poor Houston employees see me as a pushover and a softie but there are
a couple of them you can ask who will tell you otherwise. Have had to pull
rank on a couple of them already, during the first week, and I think the
rumblings about me being a pushover are not as rampant as they once were.
The point of all this is, if you know anyone in Houston who I might know or
remember, please have them to contact me via e-mail or otherwise. I would
like to renew previous acquaintances or make new friends here because I plan
on being here a spell so I would like to establish some stability in my
life. I never thought Houston would be where I would end up or even where I
would consider going but I really feel good about this job and I thank each
and every one of my friends for your support. My e-mail address remains the
same as it was in Austin:
gtoone@texas.net
That is my home e-mail and I am listed in Directory Assistance. One could
also contact the Texas commission for the Blind office in Houston to track
me down.
I send my best to each and every one of you and throughout all my life, the
good and the bad times, I still maintain that warped sense of humor that I
have always had. My outlook continues to be positive and I enjoy each and
every day. I also enjoy hearing from people I know so please e-mail if you
are so inclined. Hope to see everyone around the end of June as I plan to
attend the First Baptist Church get together in Pecos.
My best to each and every one of you,
George Toone

from that we feel a deeper sense of loss. It is even worse to think that the senseless
violence that plagues so much of the rest of the world has come even to Pecos'

Hello Folks,
What a sad thought Jaime died protecting some people. However he will no be forgotten
anytime soon. Just the thought he put his life on the line each day he suited up means a
bunch. Yes he was so young, but Im only 40. Im sure he thought waht is happening, as
it took place. Im glad he had the time to tell his family and kids he loved them before He
left us. NOW that is Pure West Texas Courage and the true Texas spirit. My sympathies
go to the family and their loved ones. i have been stopped before for a traffic viloation,
and who hasnt?? Those officers never know what they will face and what they are
looking at,
Im proud as hell a fellow Pecos citizen took a bullet protecting a busload of people, and
his own life. Now that is the true spirit we all should follow. That man did what he could
and well left some family behind. I know this seems strange , but I hope yall listen. Even
if ya get stopped or whatever, think about the officer too, He/she is a person and has
thoughts and problems or whatever is going on in their lives. Yes they may be in a bad
mood or seem like it, but be kind to them or just be gentle and treat them with respect
and courtesy, more than likely they will return it in most cases. I experienced that a few
months back. I was stopped because my tailgate was open and some trash was coming
out of my pickup bed. The officer was going to write a warning citation, but since I
treated him with respect he didnt finish it. Just give those officers a good word of Thanks
or encouragement. Yes I remember Jaime well. I was born and raised in Pecos and left
there and now live In San Angelo. He's a DAMN good example of how we should think of
ourselves , To serve and Protect, well he did that very well. Im sorry he lost his life, but
he did what he was trained for and just cause he's gone, dont forget his memory or his
cause. Jaime may you rest in peace , You did a Hell of a job . THANKS a BUNCH

I just wanted to post a note to the family of a fallen hero. Jamie Rodriguez is a hero to the people of
Reeves County and the entire Law Enforcement Community. Everyday for over twenty years I and many
others put on the badge and uniform to try and make our world a better place to live in. When a brother
and an old friend falls in this way, it reminds me that our jobs are probably the most important jobs in
this country. I want Jamie's family to know that Jamie is my hero. I am so very sorry that Jamie has
been taken from you. I am very sure that my Lord and Savior has his arm around Jamie right this very
second and telling him, "Well done, good and faithful servant".
To the entire Rodriguez Family, I want you to know that I, as a dedicated and sworn peace officer,
will do my very best to carry on with the job that Jamie was so proud of and I will do what ever I can to
make this world a safer place for the family that this HERO has left behind.

My name is Scott Martin and I was on the internet searching for hits using
the name Pecos Kid.
My grandfather, Pecos Albert Martin would be about 90 years old if he was
alive today. He used to tell me stories that his father was known as the
Pecos Kid. I am interested in possible roots to a great grandfather that
probably lived in the Pecos River area some time ago. I see by your
website that there is a modern day Pecos Kid and I am wondering if there
was an older Pecos Kid that I could be related to.
Do you have any record of a Pecos Kid that would have been in the Pecos
River area some 90 years ago? Do you have any information on places or
people I could contact on information about a Pecos Kid?
If you could give me some hints on where I could research information on
the Pecos Kid, I would appreciate it.
Thanks
