Norman Pallanes

Norman Perea Pallanes, 32, of Midland, died Friday, April 6, 2001, in an oil field explosion.

Rosaries were held on Sunday, April 8 and Mass was Tuesday, April 10 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Midland followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery.

He was born on Oct. 5, 1968, in Pecos to Lucia Perea and Isabel "Chester" Pallanes.

He attended Midland schools and graduated, after playing varsity football, at Midland High School in 1987.

Survivors include his wife, Jesusita Martinez Pallanes, of Midland; children Zacariah Adam, Jeremiah Matthew, Jonathan Elijah, John Micheal and Hanna Angelita all of Midland; mother Lucia Perea of Midland; father Isabel "Chester" Pallanes of Midland; sisters Lisa Pallanes and Stephanie Herrera, both of Midland; brothers Roman Pallanes, Jason Pallanes and Nathan Pallanes, all of Midland; numerous nieces and nephews; and the Perea and Sais families of Pecos.

Narcissa Arreguy

Narcissa Ybarra Arreguy, 90, of Pecos, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m., on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15 at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, April 16 at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Manuel Munoz officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Rosa Cemetery.

She was born on Oct. 29, 1910, a lifelong resident of Pecos, a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors include four sons Iginio Arreguy of Roseville, Calif., Ralph Arreguy of Oceanside, Calif., Bobby Arreguy and Richard "Ricky" Arreguy both of Pecos; three daughters Adela Salcido, Josie Valencia and Rosie Marta all of Pecos; two sisters Maria Armendariz of Novato, Calif., and Vicenta Montoya of Pecos; 26 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Narcissa Arreguy

Services are incomplete for Narcissa Arreguy, 90, of Pecos, who died Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Rebecca Sanchez

Rebecca Sanchez, 86, of Saragosa, died Friday, April 6, 2001, in Dexter, NM.

A rosary was held at 7 p.m., on Sunday, April 8 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Saragosa.

Mass was scheduled for 9 a.m., today at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial in Saragosa Cemetery.

She was born on August 8, 1914 in Saragosa, was a lifetime resident of Saragosa, a homemaker and a Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carlos Sanchez, Sr.; and one son, Ray Sanchez.

Survivors include one son Carlos Sanchez, Jr., of Balmorhea; two daughters Lydia S. Olivas and Lupe S. Morales, both of Dexter, N.M.; four sisters, Delfina Gomez of Balmorhea, Isabel Arenivas of Sweetwater, Genoveva Gomez of Poteet and Sebera Navarette of Woodland, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Audelio Cobos

Audelio "Delio" Cobos, 65, of Pyote, died Friday, April 6, 2001 at Odessa Medical Center.

A rosary was held at 8 p.m., on Sunday, April 8 at Harkey Funeral Home in Monahans.

Mass was scheduled for 10 a.m., today at St. John's Catholic Church in Monahans with Father John Lucido officiating. Burial followed at Pyote Cemetery in Pyote.

He was born on March 13, 1936 in Presidio, an Army veteran, a retired Maintenance Technician for the highway department and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife Maria Cobos of Pyote; one son Junior Cobos of Monahans; four daughters Joann Bryant of Lubbock; Corina Knight of San Saba, Yolando Cobos and Rosemary Higgins both of Monahans; one brother Ismael Cobos of Kermit; six sisters Delma Garcia of Monahans, Celia Natividad of Pecos, Manuela Pelayo of Pyote, Ernestina Preciado of Norwalk, Calif., Lilly Villa of Round Lake Beach, Ill and Martha Monarrez of Chicago, Ill; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Gabriela Mendoza

Gabriela Mendoza, 88, of Saragosa, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at her residence.

A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m., today, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Saragosa.

Mass will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, April 6, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with burial in Saragosa Cemetery.

She was born July 5, 1912, in Candelaria, was a lifetime Saragosa resident, a homemaker and a Catholic.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Mondragon; one sister, Virginia Mendoza and four brothers, Jose, Roman, Manuel and Jesus Mendoza.

Survivors include one son, Ismael Franco of Dallas; three daughters, Valentina Natividad of Saragosa, Anita Vasquez of Oklahoma and Celia Urquidez of Ingleside.; one brother, Albert Mendoza of Pecos; 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.

Ilda Mendoza

Funeral services for Juan Ramon Mendoza, 46, of Hobbs, N.M. were held at 2 p.m., today at Centro de Victoria, 300 E. Marland, in Hobbs.

He was born May 17, 1954 in Mexico.

Survivors include his wife, Ilda Mendoza of Hobbs, N.M.; one son, Eduardo "Lalo" Mendoza of Hobbs, N.M.; one daughter, Julie Mendoza of Hobbs, N.M.; three brothers, Oscar Mendoza of Pecos, Abelardo and Santiago Mendoza of Pennsylvania and one sister, Elpidia Borrayo of Monterrey.

Frances Rodriguez

Frances Rodriguez, 82, of Pecos, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at the Fort Stockton Nursing Home.

She was born April 26, 1918, in Presidio, was a retired nurses aide and a Catholic.

Survivors include one son, Raymundo Orona of Odessa; five daughters, Cruz Jurado of El Paso, Yolanda Valabas of Las Cruces, N.M., Lorena Cano of Alpine, Albina Ziehn of Houston and Maria Elena Saldana of Pecos; one brother, Manuel L. Rodriguez of Clovis, N.M.; 25 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Frank Blakeney

Frank Blakeney, 93, of Andrews, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at Andrews Healthcare Center in Andrews.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., today, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Rev. Marvin Glasgow, Pastor of Apotolic Church in Sweetwater, officiating. Burial will be in Andrews West Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 16, 1908, in Globe, Ariz., moved to Andrews in 1991 from Pecos, was a farmer and a member of the Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Andrews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Wynne, who died in 1974 and his son, Bill Blakeney, who died in 1989.

Survivors include his wife, Cherry Blakeney of Andrews; two sons, Kenneth Blakeney of Andrews and Tom Blakeney of Kermit; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 407 SE Avenue C, Andrews, Tx. 79714.

Grace Bryant

Grace Ann Bryant, 41, of Dallas, died Friday, March 23, 2001, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital.

A wake will be held from 8:30-9:30 p.m., Friday, March 30, at Golden Gate Funeral Home, 2349 Cedar Crest Boulevard, in Dallas.

Services are scheduled for noon, Saturday, at Good Shepard Baptist Church in Dallas with burial in a Dallas cemetery.

She was born Feb. 20, 1960, had lived in Pecos for 11 years, was a cashier at La Tienda and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Windell Terry of Pecos; her step-father, Wealthia Brager of Dallas; two sons, Lexus Newhouse and Quinten Terry of Pecos; one daughter, Sophia McCray of Pecos; two sisters, Barbara Anderson of Dallas, Carolyn Goodlow and Marilyn Jones of Mt. Pleasant; eight brothers, John Johnson, Donald Jackson, Terry, Patrick, Anize and Glen Brager all of Dallas, Mark Johnson of Kermit, Cleophus Jackson, Jr. of Arizona and two grandchildren.

John Mitchell

Services are incomplete for John Mitchell, 84, of Pecos, who died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Concepcion Tercero

A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at Pecos Funeral Home for Concepcion "Connie" Tercero, 77, of Odessa, who died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Pecos. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Fort Davis.

She was born July 26, 1923, in Fort Davis and was a longtime resident of Pecos. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors are her husband Jose M. Tercero; one son, Steve Tercero of Odessa; three daughters Mary L. Botello of Orange Park, Fla., Rosa De La O and Priscilla T. Ely, both of Odessa; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services are under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home of Odessa.

Mary Brownlee

Mary A. Brownlee, 76, of Pecos, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m., today, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 20, at the Fairview Cemetery with Father Mike Alcuino officiating.

She was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Pecos, was a retired lab technician and a Catholic.

Survivors include one brother, Floyd Brownlee Jr. of Pecos; three sisters, Gail Murray of Houston, Geraldine Reed of Midland and Midge Halsell of Denton.

Joe Davis

Joe C. Davis, 98, of Midland, died Friday, March 16, 2001 in a Midland hospital.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 20, in Golf Course Road Church of Christ in Midland with Eddie Lee officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Davis was born April 19, 1902, in Big Spring, graduated from high school in Baird, worked with the railroad in Baird, later moved to Iraan and began working in the oilfields. He lived in McCamey, Denver City, Seagraves and Abilene before moving to Midland in 1949. He began his career in the insurance industry in the early 1940s and became an independent insurance agent when he moved to Midland, retiring in the late 1980s. He was a member of Golf Course Road Church of Christ and various insurance associations.

His wife Mary died in 1971. He later met and married Ida Mae Kent, who died in 1987.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Joe Clyde Davis, Jr. and Truitt Davis; two brothers and six sisters.

Survivors include one son, L. Porter Davis of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Norma Golden of Pecos; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Midland Christian School in Midland or to Smithlawn Children's Home in Lubbock.

Ella Chasteen

Ella Evelyn Harrel Chasteen, 76, of Midland, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at her residence.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., today, at the Pecos Funeral Home.

Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, March 17, at West Park Baptist Church with Rev. James Sain and Rev. J.E. McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 18, 1924, in Dallas, was a retired bookkeeper for Pecos Automotive and a Baptist.

The family requests donations be made to West Park Baptist Church in Pecos or Hospice or the American Heart Association.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Mariott of Midland; two sisters, Velma Meulengracht of Golden, Colo., Juanita Jason of Nunan, Ga.; two brothers, Jack Harrel of Forsyth, Mo., Ray Harrel of Surprise, Ariz.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Jane Ross

Jane Ross, 86, of Pecos, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 17, at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Abbott officiating.

She was born Oct. 22, 1914, in Pecos and was a retired district clerk for Reeves County. She worked as a legal secretary for 15 years, was elected District Clerk in 1962, served over 20 years, retired in 1984, was a member of the Methodist Church, Friends of the Library, Friends of the Museum, Business and Professional Women's Clubs and the Reeves County Hospital Auxiliary. She was a lifelong Pecos resident and a Methodist.

Leola Tollett

Leola "Billie" Tollett, 79, of Pecos, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at her residence.

Viewing will be held from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m., today at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel and from 8-5 p.m., Saturday.

Graveside services will be held 6 p.m., Saturday, March 17, at the Toyah Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 6, 1922,in Coleman, was retired from Reeves County Hospital, was a lifelong Pecos resident and a Christian.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Jean Brennan.

Survivors include two sons, Joe Tollett of Pecos, Wayne Tollett of Toyah; one daughter, Sally Tucker of Fort Davis; one sister, Mary Brewer of Athens, Tx.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
