Manuel Gonzales

Manuel Gonzales, 80, of Pecos, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, at Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 1, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born June 7, 1920, in Fort Stockton, was a retired equipment operator, had lived in Pecos since 1940 and was a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Gonzales in 1996; two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Saul, Manuel Gonzales, Jr. and Gilberto Gonzales of Pecos; three daughters, Elva Tarin of Midland and Delma and Rosie Gonzales of Pecos; one sister, Gabriela Franco of Odessa and eight grandchildren.

Charles McGoldrick

Charles McGoldrick, 68, of West Creek, died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001, at Sea Crest Village Nursing Home in Little Egg Harbor, N.J.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, at Maxwell Funeral Home, 160 Mathistown Rd., Little Egg Harbor, N.J. Burial will be in West Creek Cemetery.

He was born in Philadelphia and had lived in Mentone prior moving to West Creek 1½ years ago. He was a retired chief engineer for the Merchant Marine, was a commissioned officer for the Texas Guard serving with two silver bars, was on tour in Vietnam, Desert Storm, and was a deputy in the reserves in Luma County, N.M. He served as a deputy sheriff in Mentone for eight years, was a member of VFW and the American Legion.

Survivors include his son, Charles J. McGoldrick III of Philadelphia; two daughters, Lorraine McGoldrick of Tuckerton, Pa. and Jacqueline McGoldrick of Philadelphia; one brother, Ray McGoldrick of Philadelphia; two sisters, Agnes Pharo of Tuckerton, Margaret Wells of Manahawkin; one granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to the Diabetes Research.

Arlene Hill

Arlene Bowie Hill, 62, of Pecos, died on Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., today at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Garcia and Randy Foster officiating.

Burial services will follow at Mount Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born on Jan. 1, 1939, in Pecos, was a secretary of the First Presbyterian Church, a lifelong resident of Pecos and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband Norman Ray Hill of Pecos; her mother Opal Bowie Lovelace of Pecos; two sons, Craig Hill and Gary Hill, both of Pecos; two daughters Debbie Riley of Pecos and Conda Zimdars of Fort Davis; and eight grandchildren.

Arlene Hill

Services for Arlene Hill, 62, will be at 2 p.m. today (Monday) in Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. She died Friday morning at her residence in Pecos.

Wanda Hoffman

Memorial services for Wanda Brasuel Hoffman, a former Pecos resident, are scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2001 at the Chapel of the Hills in Austin.

Hoffman died on Friday, Jan 19, 2001, after a battle with cancer.

She is survived by two daughters DeAun and Sherri Hoffman; her mother Aulene

Brasuel; one sister, Peggy Street of Odessa, and one granddaughter, all of Austin.

Melda Gleason

Melda Agnes Gleason, 87, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000 at the Meadow Creek Nursing Center in San Angelo.

Graveside memorial services were held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000 in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Odessa.

She was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Mooringsport, La. She worked in retail for J.C. Penney for 23 years and was a member of Park Heights Christian Church in Odessa.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alton M. Gleason; two sisters, Helen Kirkland and Estaline Gleason; and a twin brother, Melvin Cogley.

Survivors include two brothers, Eugene Cogley and Johnny Cogley, both of Mooringsport, La.; a son, James Alton Gleason of San Angelo; a daughter, Shirley Wadley of Pecos; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Pabla Hernandez

Pabla Vasquez Hernandez, 82, of Kermit, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at her residence.

A rosary was held at 7 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kermit.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., today at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father John Lucido officiating. Burial services will follow at Kermit Cemetery.

She was born on Jan. 26, 1918, in Pecos, was a homemaker, a member of the Gudalupana, Sacred Hearts and Cursillista Church organizations, a Kermit resident for 29 years and a Catholic.

She married Ernesto P. Hernandez in Balmorhea on Dec. 26, 1936. He preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1972.

Survivors include one brother, Antonio Vasquez of Biola, Calif..; four sisters, Nellie Hernandez of Redlands, Calif., Genova Villa of San Jose, Calif., Jenny Ferrales of Modesto, Calif., and Julia Evaro of McFarland, Calif.; on daughter Juanita Hernandez of Kermit; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Jose Juarez, Jr.

Jose Ramon Juarez, Jr., 20, of Odessa, died on Friday, Jan. 19, 2001 at Medical Center Hospital.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., today at Templo Buenas Nuevas Assembly of God in Odessa where he was a member, with Pastor Rosario Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was born on April 15, 1980, in Pecos and moved to Odessa in 1985. He was a 1999 graduate of Odessa High School and a member of Grupo Libre Christian Band.

Survivors include parents Jesus & Martha Fierro of Odessa and Jose Ramon & Dianne Juarez of Pecos; three sisters Gloria Arriaga of Odessa, Pilar Juarez and Patricia Juarez, both of Pecos; grandparents Abundio Fuentes of Pecos, Delia Fuentes of El Paso, Armando Padilla of Chihuahua, Mexico, Aurora Juarez of Odessa, and Juan & Ricarda Fierro of Odessa; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Francisco Martinez

Francisco "Chico" P. Martinez, 89, of Barstow died on Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary was held at 7:30 p.m., on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001 in the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass was held at 10 a.m., today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Manuel Munoz officiating. Burial will follow at Barstow Cemetery.

He was born on April 13, 1911, at Ruidosa, was a World War II Army veteran and a Catholic.

Survivors include one sister Maria Faulkner of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son Santiago Martinez of El Paso; three daughters Eva Flores of Pecos, Juanita Carrasco of Phoenix, and Delma Mosby of Carlsbad, N.M.; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Peggy Scull

Peggy L. Senf Scull, 72, of Odem, died on Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at her residence.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., today at Evergreen Cemetery in Odem with Rev. Janet Fluth officiating. Burial will follow.

She was born on Nov. 14, 1928, in Goose Creek and was raised in Sinton.

She was preceded in death by one brother Robert O. Senf of Sinton and one grandson Robert B. Scull of Pecos.

Survivors include her husband William R. Scull of Odem; one brother Gwynn N. Senf of Sinton; one sister Mary Swetlick of Corpus Christi; two sons Howell Scull of Victoria and Wayman Scull of Houston; two daughters Lenell Chandler and Latricia Scull both of Odem; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children Hospital or to the charity of your choice.

Diego Madrid, 59, died on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

A rosary was held at 8 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial following at Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born on August 23, 1941, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, was a lifetime resident of Pecos, a seismographer and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife Amelia Garcia Madrid of Pecos; three brothers Raul Madrid and Arturo Madrid both of Odessa and Raymundo Madrid of Hobbs, N.M.; three sisters Enedina Rodriguez of Odessa, Aurora Perez of Hobbs, N.M., and Gloria Alvarado of El Paso; two sons Daniel Madrid of Waco, David Madrid of Odessa; two daughters Delma Madrid and Elsa Baeza both of Pecos; and 11 grandchildren.

Mary Barbier

Mary Alta Walker Barbier, 90, of Walnut Creek, Calif., died Friday, Jan. 12, in Yreka, Calif.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the Tice Valley United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Mountain Cemetery, Sonoma, Calif.

She was born Sept. 22, 1910, near Barstow, attended high school in Chandler, was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, was an elementary school teacher in Hebbronville, Tx., West Springfield, Ma., and in Kenwood, Santa Cruz and San Carlos, Calif. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fredrick Barbier; three brothers, Willard R. Walker of Esparto, Calif., John W. Walker of Midland and Wallace H. Walker of Casa Grande, Ariz.

Survivors include two stepsons, John F. Barbier of La Jolla, Calif., James R. Barbier of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Felisitas Medina

Felisitas Medina, 63, of Monahans, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 8 p.m., today, at St. John's Catholic Church in Monahans.

Mass is scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. John's Catholic Church in Monahans with Father John Lucido officiating. Burial will be in Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

She was born June 9, 1937, in Big Spring, was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, Benigno Medina of Monahans; three sons, Benny Ray Medina of Montgomery, Ala., David Lynn Medina of Casa Grande, Ariz., Ruben Medina of Duncanville, Tx.; her mother, Manuela Gonzales of Monahans; one brother, Anastacio Gonzales of Monahans; one sister, Beatrice Chavez of Monahans and six grandchildren.

Dessie Prendergast

Dessie Prendergast, a longtime resident of Hobart, Okla., died Friday, Jan. 12, in Bartlesville, Okla.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 15, at Hobart Rose Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Lents Prendergast of Bartlesville, Okla.; one daughter, Sue Dorr of Pecos; one brother, Bowman Lents of Ninnekah, Okla., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Lucius Desha Bunton III

AUSTIN, Jan. 17, 2001 - U.S. District Judge Lucius D. Bunton III, who served on the federal bench for over 20 years and was instrumental in the construction of a new federal courthouse in Pecos, died of a heart attack this morning in Austin. He was 76 years old.

Funeral arrangements for Bunton have been scheduled for Friday in Odessa. Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, at Sunset Gardens, main cemetery in Odessa.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Odessa, 709 N. Lee Ave.

Bunton had retired in May because of health reasons. He diagnosed with bladder cancer in 1999 and underwent surgery, taking an eight-month leave from the bench. He returned in December 1999, but handled only a few cases before announcing his retirement.

Bunton was appointed to the federal bench in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter and served as chief judge for the Western District of Texas from 1987 to 1992. He became classified as a "senior judge" in December 1992.

James Canon

James Roy Canon, 80, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at his residence.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. today, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Woody Woodard officiating.

He was born July 1, 1920, in Stith, Jones County, was a World War II Veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps., a retired fieldman for Exxon and a Protestant.

Survivors include his wife Zelma Canon of Pecos; two sons, Jim R. and Jack L. Canon of Pecos; one brother, Davis Carl Canon of Bethany, Okla.; two sister, Minnie Ethel Curb of Odessa, Una Carter Walker of Sentinel, Okla. and three grandchildren.

Helen Mellard

Helen Mellard, 55, of Balmorhea, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at a Fort Stockton hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, at the Balmorhea Methodist Church.

She was born Dec. 27, 1945, in Rotan, and had been a teacher's aide for the Balmorhea School System.

Survivors include her husband, Courtney G. Mellard of Balmorhea; two sons, Damon Mellard of Balmorhea and Jimmy Melvin of Marfa; three daughters, Mary Walker of Kress, Molly Mellard of Presidio and Dana Rice of Florida; her mother, Bertha Gilbert of Snyder and two grandchildren.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial be made to the Balmorhea Youth Lunch Bible Study Program at the Balmorhea Methodist Church.

Hal Price

Hal Price, 87, of Monahans, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, at his residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 16, at Belvedere Cemetery in San Angelo with Rev. Jeff Box officiating.

He was born Aug. 24, 1913, in Cross Plains, and was a retired Mobile consignee.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Price of Monahans; two sons, Dodd Price of Arlington, Tenn., Brian Price of Austin; two daughters, Ellen Sitton Barton of Plano, Martha Sitton Ricketson of Pecos; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Frances Cox

Frances Theadora Cox, 81, of Cottage Grove, Ore., died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, in Cottage Grove, Ore.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 15, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. J.E. "Mac" McCormick.

She was born April 27, 1919, in Walters, Okla., was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Elroy Lowrance in 1990 and one sister, Pearl Arline in 1987.

Survivors include her husband, Charley Cox of Cottage Grove, Ore.; five sons, Robert Cox of Mississippi, Harold Cox of Oklahoma, George "Mick" and Chuck Cox of Oregon and Steve Cox of South Carolina; two daughters, Darlene Ladd of Minnesota and Wanda Bessey of Oregon; one sister, Corine Cravey of Pecos; two brothers, Robert Leroy Lowrance of Runaway Bay, Tx. and Alvin Loyd Lowrance of Odessa; 25 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Annetta Heinen

Annetta Joyce Heinen, 75, of Fort Stockton, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001 in Corpus Christi.

Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Herrera officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery.

She was born in Balmorhea, was a retired beautician and a Christian.

Survivors include four daughters, Ann Martinez of Hurley, N.M., Lita Robertson of Fort Stockton, Charlie Joplin and Cheryl Murray of Odessa; one brother, George Jones of Alpine; two sisters, H.W. Jones of San Angelo, Joan Cockerell of Tom Bean; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Genoveva Cabezuela

Genoveva Prieto Cabezuela, 70, of Carlsbad, N.M., died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001 at her home.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel in Carlsbad, N.M.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski officiating. Burial will be in Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad.

She was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Pecos, grew up in San Antonio, Chih., Mex., had lived in Carlsbad about 33 years, was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Cynthia Sanchez and Maria Holguin and three grandchildren.

Survivors include 10 sons, Moises, Jesse, Joel, Joe, Manuel, Moises, Jr. and Guadalupe Cabezuela of Carlsbad, N.M., Ray and Armando Cabezuela of Artesia, N.M. and Israel Cabezuela of Hobbs, N.M.; five daughters, Ramona Tarango of Van Horn, Elia Gutierrez of Portales, N.M., Lucy Nickles of Tulare, Calif., Armada Alvarado of Odessa and Janie Porres of Carlsbad, N.M.; her mother, Filomena Torres of Odessa; two brothers, Manuel and Frank Torres of Austin; four sisters, Ramona Esparza and Nancy Hernandez of Odessa, Susie Bernard of Midland and Nellie Guerro of Austin; 68 grandchildren and 48 great-grandchildren.

Nancy Dean

Nancy Camp Dean, 84, of Pecos, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Reeves County Hospital.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the First Christian Church.

She was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Pecos, was a lifelong Pecos resident, a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Camp "Bobby" Dean of Pecos, David Jim Hilliard Dean of Sydney, Australia; two daughters, Nancy Dean Egan of Dallas and Mary Bird Dean Bowman of Austin; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren.

Rex C. Griffin

Rex C. Griffin, 80, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Veterans Hospital in Houston.

Griffin was born May 16, 1920 and was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He lived in Toyah in the 1940s and 1950s, where he was a rancher and co-owner of the Toyah Gulf service station. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Griffin of Houston.

Survivors include a son, Rex. C. Griffin, Jr. of Houston; a sister Donita Hunter of Pecos; one grandson and a five nephews, three great-nieces and four great-nephews.

Geronimo Lara

Geronimo J.O. Lara, 79, of Pecos, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at his residence.

Mass was scheduled for 10 a.m., today, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial at the Lara Cemetery in Petrol.

He was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Petrol, had served in the United States Army in World War II, was a lifetime Pecos resident, retired and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Margarita S. Lara of Pecos; two sons, Santiago and Cristobal Lara of Pecos; one daughter, Elisa S. Lara of Odessa; one brother, Samuel C. Lara of Pecos; two sisters, Genara L. and Ostolia L. Ramirez of Pecos; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ynocente Dominguez

Ynocente "Y.D." Dominguez, 74, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, at Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 29, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Redford, Tx., was a lifetime Pecos resident, had served in the U.S. Army, was a retired auto test driver and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Francis Dominguez of Pecos; one son, Tony Dominguez of Pecos; six brothers, Cipriano Dominguez of Lytle, Tx., Robert Dominguez of San Antonio, Esequil Dominguez of Bakersfield, Calif., Ysidro and Oscar Dominguez of Odessa, Ruben Dominguez of Pecos; three sisters, Paula Gonzales and Hope Galvan of Odessa and Mary Jane Villanueva of Midland.

Maria Galindo

Maria H. Galindo, 78, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at Reeves County Hospital.

Funeral services will be in Mexico on Friday, Dec. 29. 

She was born Sept. 30, 1922 in Manuel Benavides, Chih., Mex.

Survivors include her husband, Marcelo M. Galindo of Pecos; two sons, Israel H. Galindo of Ojinaga, Chih., Mex., and Marcelo H. Galindo, Jr. of Pecos; two daughters, Ramona G. Munoz of Ojinaga, Chih., Mex., and Felipa G. Rubio of Pecos; three sisters, Hermenegilda Acosta of Lovington, N.M., Manuela Baeza of Jal., N.M. and Trinidad H. Alvarado of Ojinaga, Chih., Mex., 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Velma Young 

Velma Young, 80, of Sulphur Springs, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in the Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, at West Park Baptist Church with burial in Mount Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Jan. 28, 1920, in Winnsboro, was a member of the West Park Baptist Church in Pecos and was retired from the Pecos ISD.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil "Buck" Young in 1981; six brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Williams of Sulphur Springs; two sons, Lonnie Young of Enloe, Dick Young of Odessa; two brothers, Floyd Whitworth, Doyle Whitworth of Abilene; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Fred Webb

Fred Holt Webb, 85, died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, in Throckmorton.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 30, at Bethany Baptist Church with Dr. Robert Lynn Webb officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., in Rising Star at the Pioneer Cemetery.

He was born on June 10, 1915, in Newcastle, graduated from Newcastle High School, attended Ranger College for two years, served in the United States Army and was Maintenance Sergeant for the Motor Pool in the National Guard. He moved to Breckenridge in 1968 from Pecos, was a mechanic, worked for McCathren Motor for three years and for Breckenridge Auto and Engine for 10 years, was a member of the Odd Fellows and the First Baptist Church of Woodson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Ruby Francis Webb and Bula Belle Webb and one son, Fredrick Dale Webb.

Juanita Matta

Juanita M. Matta, 86, of Pecos died on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000 in Pecos.

Mass was held at 2 p.m., today at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial following at Greenwood Cemetery. Viewing was held from 10 a.m.-10 p.m., on Saturday and Sunday with a rosary at 7:30 p.m., on Sunday at the Martinez Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born on June 26, 1915 in Balmorhea, was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Pecos and a catholic.

Survivors include four sons, Felipe Matta of Odessa and Adan Matta, Cipriano Matta and Nolberto "Biro" Matta all of Pecos; two daughters, Erlinda Sauseda of Odessa and Eva Valencia of Pecos; one brother, Santiago Matta of Pecos; one sister, Amelia Valles of Pecos; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Doyle Reed

Doyle A. Reed, 47, of Pecos died on Friday, Dec. 15, 2000 at Reeves County Hospital.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 19 at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. James Henderson officiating.

He was born on August 24, 1953, in Crosbyton, was a retired laborer and a lifelong resident of Pecos and a Baptist.

Survivors include his mother Diane Reed of Pecos and numerous friends.

Mildred Rousseau

Mildred F. Rousseau, 63, of Tilton, N.H. died on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at her home.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Dec 16 at William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home in Tilton followed by burial at Park Cemetery in Tilton.

She was born in Franklin, New Hampshire, to Francis and Goldie Beane was a seamstress and was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.

She lived in Pecos from 1941-1952 otherwise living in the Tilton area for most of her life.

She was preceded in death by her half-brother, Russell Beane and her longtime companion, Alton Jones.

Survivors include two daughters, Gayleen Smith of Loudon, N.H. and Susan Huscher of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Christie Blake of Barstow; a half-sister, Madeline Gladu of Franklin, N.H.; four grandchildren; her companion's children and grandchildren and two nieces and a nephew.

Jessie Kelton

Jessie Mae Kelton, 82, of Plano, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at the Medical Center of Plano.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15, in the Turrentine Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Pastor Garrett Hawfitch officiating. Burial will be in Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos.

She was born Dec. 3, 1918, in Girard, was a homemaker and a longtime active resident of Pecos, a volunteer at the Reeves County Hospital and a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Pecos.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bob Kelton; two brothers and one sister.

Survivors include one son, Montie Frank Kelton of Pecos; three daughters, Joanne McLeod of St. Louis, Rose Ann Hatchett and Jan Burke of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; one brother, Randall Wells of Clinton, Ark.; one sister, Celia Thompson of Wylie; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Emilio Lopez

Emilio G. Lopez, 77, of Barstow died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at his residence.

Rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m. today at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000 at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Barstow with burial services following at the Barstow Cemetery, with Father Mike Alcuino officiating.

He was born on May 22, 1923, in Mexico, was a World War II veteran, a retired railroad worker and a Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Eusebia G. Lopez of Barstow, three sons, Nicky Lopez of Lubbock; Steven Lopez of Round Rock and Dennis Lopez of Houston; four daughters, Belinda Lopez and Melinda Lopez, both of Odessa; Adela Sedillo of Grand Prairie and Yvonne Lopez of Houston; one step-daughter, Carol Gonzales of Barstow; one brother, Alejo Lopez of Breckenridge; two sisters, Lupe Miller of Abilene and Connie Anguiano of Tucson, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Tomas Villanueva

Tomas Jurado Villanueva, 75, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at the Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 9 in El Paso.

He is survived by his wife, Manuela Villanueva of Socorro; one brother, Manuel J. Villanueva of Pecos, and one sister, Maria V. Soto, also of Pecos. 

Wanda Cowan

Wanda Lola Cowan, 78, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at Reeves County Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greer Willis officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Carlyle, Ind., was a retired bookkeeper for Standard Oil and a Baptist.

Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Cowan of Abilene; two sisters, Cleo Ellis of Linton, Ind. and Alberta Myers of Linton, Ind., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serenity Jewel Lund Sanchez, a three-month old baby of Odessa, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, in Pecos.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., today, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, with Rev. Rex Clayton officiating.

She was born Aug. 31, 2000, in Odessa.

Survivors include her mother, Melissa Lund of Odessa; her father, James Sanchez of Pecos; two brothers, Richard Sanchez of Pecos and Ashton Clary of Odessa; one sister, Aubrie Lund of Odessa; her grandparents, Lynn and Steve Overton, Manuel and Mary Alice Benavidez of Houston, Kevin and Judy Lund of Kaycee, Wy. and great-grandmother, Stella Brock of Kaycee, Wy.

Edwardo Natividad, 57, of Odessa, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at Ward Memorial Hospital in Monahans.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, at St. John's Catholic Church in Monahans with Father Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be in Pyote Cemetery.

He was born March 16, 1943, in Pecos, was a highway department employee and a Catholic.

Survivors include one son, Eddie Natividad of Maple Heights, Ohio; two brothers, Bonifacio Natividad of Pecos and Augustin Natividad of Odessa; two sisters, Margie Carrasco of Monahans and Jesusita "Jessie" Cobos of Monahans.

Pilar Franco

Pilar Rodriguez Franco, 62, of Odessa died on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at her residence.

Rosary was held at 7 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 25 and Sunday, Nov. 26 at the Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass was set for 2 p.m today Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Rev. Manuel Munoz officiating.

Burial services followed at the Mount Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born on November 12, 1938 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico and was a homemaker and Catholic.

She is preceded in death by one brother, Toribio Rodriguez.

Survivors include her husband D. Armando Franco of Ojinaga; sons Armando Franco, Rigoberto Franco, Jose Nicholas Franco and Alfredo Franco, all of Odessa; daughters Librada Salas, Veronica Gayosso, Anabel Prieto and Yanira Nieto all of Odessa; brothers Francisco Rodriguez and Jose Luis Rodriguez both from Pecos; sister Rita Montano of Pecos; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
