Pike McCasland

Pike McCasland, 60, of Midland, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 31, at First Baptist Church Chapel with Reverend Bob Hopkins officiating.

He was born Dec. 5, 1942, in Center, Tx., graduated from high school in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, attended the University of Texas in Austin and graduated from UTPB.

During his career he was employed by Robert H. Ray, Globe Exploration, Rogers Geophysical, United Geophysical and Seis Com Delta. He worked across Australia, and managed crews in Chad, Kenya and Sudan, was head of operations in Singapore covering Yemen, Sumatra, Java and New Guinea. After returning to the U.S. in 1986, he taught school in Presidio, Iraan, and for the last five years in Paradise Independent School District in Wise County.

McCasland was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark and Bruce McCasland.

Survivors include his parents, Barney and Frances McCasland of Midland; two stepsons, Calum McCasland of El Paso, Ewan McCasland of Midland; one sister, Gail Seerey of Bridgeport; three brothers, Barney McCasland III of Mineral Wells, Scott McCasland of Meadows Place and Ross McCasland of Lubbock.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Hospice of Midland, 911 W. Texas Street, Midland, Tx. 79701.

James Titus

James Titus, 72, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 30, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Fort Worth, was a retired police officer, served in the United States Army and a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Ricky Titus of Lake Charles, La.; one daughter, Ronda Spencer of Lake Charles, La.; one brother, Charles Titus of Pecos and two sisters, Elizabeth Schmidt of Pecos and Frances McCasland of Midland.

Miguel Perez Castillo

Miguel "Chano" Perez Castillo, 71, born on  November 22, 1931, in Juarez, Mexico. He was a lifelong resident  and business owner of Pecos. After a strong battle with cancer,  Mr. Castillo went to be with our Lord and Savior on Christmas  day, December 25, 2002. Prior to being a business owner of  La Nortena Corporation, he had been employed with  Toones Grocery, Pecos Test Track and Manager of Third Street Mobil Service Station. Throughout  his life, he touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jesus Perez Castillo.

He is survived by his wife of 50 beautiful years, Celia M. Castillo; his brothers, Raul, Armando, and Javier Castillo; his sisters, Dolores Castaneda, Elvia, Margarita, Graciela and Maria de Los Angeles Castillo; his four daughters; two sons and their families, Elvira C. Muniz and husband Jesus "Chuy" and children, Monica, Rosanna, and Jesus of McAllen, Texas; Grace Rodriguez and husband Lupe "Pepo" and children, Eric Rodriguez, Carmen, Cziko of San Angelo, Texas; Sally Garcia and husband Joe Ray and children, Esequiel "Zeke", Anthony, Andrew Dutchover and Olivia Castillo of Midland, Texas; Michael Castillo, Jr. and wife Maribel and children, Michelle, Michael and Miko Castillo of Mildand, Texas; Cindy Orona and husband Arturo and children, John and Jay Aaron of Ft. Stockton, Texas; David Castillo and wife Barbara and children Simon and Talia of Pecos, Texas.

He is survived by three great-grandchildren, Patrick Muniz, Gerardo Maruffo and Jocelyn Cziko.

Services are incomplete for Miguel Castillo, 71, of Pecos, who died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at the Reeves County Hospital.

Hipolito Martinez

Hipolito "Pollo" Mora Martinez, 78, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 27, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Hope, N.M., served in the United States Army, was a laborer and a Catholic.

Martinez was preceded in death by one son, Jose "Tiki" Martinez.

Survivors include his wife, Manuela F. Martinez of Pecos; two sons, Raul F. Martinez and Vicente Rodriguez of Pecos; two daughters, Delma M. Gonzales of Pecos, Trine Mora of California; one brother, Ricardo Martinez of San Antonio; one sister, Consuelo Gutierrez of San Antonio; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services are incomplete for James Titus, 72, of Pecos, who died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

Maniben Bhakta

Maniben Bhakta, 91, of Pecos, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at Reeves County Hospital.

A chapel service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

She was born Dec. 14, 1911, in Syalda, India, was a longtime Pecos resident, Hindu and a housewife.

Survivors include Jivan Bhakta, Raman Bhakta, Ganpat Bhakta, Mohan Bhakta, Bhikhu Bhakta and family.

Bill Bonilla

Bill Bonilla, of El Paso, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, in El Paso.

Services will be at Ft. Bliss.

Bonilla was a para-trooper in the Medics Corps during the Korea and Vietnam Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Sherri Goode Bonilla of El Paso; one daughter, Rita Fash and Jim Fash of San Rafael, Calif.; one son, Mikey Bonilla of El Paso; one brother; two sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, mother-in-law Theresa Walker of Barstow.

Maxine Borcherding

Services are incomplete in Texarkana for Maxine Blocker Borcherding, 90, of Texarkana, who died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002.

She was born Aug. 16, 1912, in Nash, was the daughter of Paul and Nora Blocker and a member of the Nash Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Bonner of Texarkana, Jerry Borcherding of Buda; one daughter, Pat Elkins of Pecos; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Paula Ornelas

Paula Matta Ornelas, 91, of Pecos, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Home Hospice of Odessa.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 7, 1916, in Indio, Tx., was a lifetime Pecos resident, a homemaker and a Catholic.

Ornelas was preceded in death by her husband, Tomas Ornelas, Sr.

Survivors include four daughters, Maria Ocon, Adelaida Jurado and Virginia Edwards of Pecos, Estella Olivas of Houston; six sisters, Sister Martha Ann of Tucson, Ariz., Mary Dutchover, Yolanda Ramirez of Pecos, Virginia Ramirez of Zapata, Tx., Maria Reginio of McCamey, Eloisa Casia of Odessa; four brothers, Manuel Matta of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, Juan Matta, Jr. of Abilene, Paz Matta of Odessa, Hector Matta of Pecos; 27 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

Donna Perkins

Donna Sue Perkins, 46, of Odessa, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at the Hospice House.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

She was born Nov. 3, 1956, in Hobbs, N.M., was a member of the West Texas Singles and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.

Survivors include her mother, Doris Prentice of Odessa; three daughters, Holly S. Perkins of Big Spring, Tamara Y. and Cynthia D. Perkins of Odessa and two sisters, Janice Payne of Weaverville, N.C. and Belinda Bilbrey of Blanket, Tx.

Patsy Pate

Patsy J. Pate, 68, of Pecos, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Foster officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born May 17, 1934, in Rising Star, Tx., was vice president of a bank and a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Martin W. Pate of Richmond; one daughter, Cynthia A. Keahey of Midland; three brothers, Norman and Roy Hill of Pecos, Jack Hill, Jr. of Midland and four grandchildren.

Patsy Pate

Services for Patsy Pate, 68, of Pecos, who died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Odessa Medical Center Hospital are incomplete.

Esteban de la Rosa

Esteban de la Rosa, 86, of Pecos, died Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at the Hospice Home in Odessa, Texas.

De la Rosa was born on September 2, 1916 in Ruidosa, Texas and was a retired railroad worker.

Services will be held Saturday, December 7 at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel at 3 p.m. with burial following at the Greenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Edmundo de la Rosa of Pecos and Stephen de la Rosa of New Braunfels, Texas, three daughters, Elizabeth D. Leos, Estella D. Ornelas and Silvia Allen all of Pecos, one sister, Dolores D. Carrillo of El Paso, twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Roy Peters

Roy Peters, 74, of Pecos died Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at the Reeves County Hospital.

Peters was born on March 13, 1928 in Houston, Texas. He was a retired mechanic and a Baptist. Peters, a veteran, also served in the Army during World War II.

Services for Peters will be Friday, December 6, at 2 p.m. at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at the Fairview Cemetery in Pecos.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Peters, of Pecos, one son, Edgar A. Peters of Lufkin, Texas, a stepson, James D. Petty Jr. of Pecos, two daughters, Yvonne Robinson of Tennessee and Teresa Ann Peters of Uvalde, Texas, one stepdaughter, Deanna Kern of Dennison, Texas, one sister Alice Godwin of Fort Worth, Texas, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Estban de la Rosa

Services are pending for Estban de la Rosa, 86, of Pecos.

De la Rosa died yesterday, Wednesday, December 4, 2002 at the Hospice Home in Odessa, Texas.
