Ina Scott

Ina Ruth Scott, 78, of Pecos, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Reeves County Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 1, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Sweetwater Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Crosby, was a longtime Pecos resident, a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Wendell Scott of Verhalen; five sons, Robert Vest of Olton, Jerry Vest of Oden, Billy Scott of Rising Star, Bruce Scott of Monahans, Douglas Scott of Roswell, N.M.; two daughters, Marie Hopkins of Fairmore, Calif., Nance Griffis of Hobbs, N.M.; two sisters, Marjie Hall of Wink, Kate Taylor of Huntsville; 25 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Terry Andris

Terry Roger Andris, died April 16, 2004, in Horseshoe Bay, Tx.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 15, at the Boys and Girls Club in Marble Falls.

He was born March 11, 1936, in Galva, Ill., graduated high school at Wethersfield High School, Kewanee, Ill., served in the United States Air Force, earned his Healthcare diplomas from the University of Manitoba, Canada, California Coast University, Memorial University, St. John’s University, Newfoundland and Cornell University, New York. He was CEO of Garland Memorial Hospital for 14 years, worked at several other hospitals and ended his career, retiring after three years in Rockdale, at Richards Memorial Hospital where he was associated with TORCH in Austin. He served the State of Texas through the Office of the Comptroller on the Tobacco Trust Investment Advisory Committee, was a member of the Rotary for 34 years, a member of the Board of Directors, Texas Rural Health Association, and Board Certified, American College of Health Care Executives.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Andris; his mother, Martha Carlson of Geneseo, Ill.; four sons, Terry Andris Jr., Andy Andris of Wheatland, Wyo., Jake McClure of Moreno Valley, Calif., Jesse McClure of Waxahachie; one sister, Sherry Wancket of Geneseo, Ill.; his step-mother, Rose Andris; one step-brother, Mike Boyle and five grandchildren. Federico “Lico” Contreras, 62, of Pecos, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, April 25, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home. Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, April 26, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Manuel Munoz officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born March 2, 1942, in Banderas, Mexico, was retired from the railroad, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Julia M. Jesus Villesca

Jesus “Jesse” Villesca, 62, of Pecos, died Thursday, April 22, 2004, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, Friday, April 23, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Manny Munoz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 9, 1942, in Fort Davis, was a retired teacher from the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD, a longtime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Villesca was preceded in death by his parents, Manuela and Pedro Villesca and one daugher, Julie Dawn Villesca.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Villesca of Pecos; two daughters, Jerra Dianna Villesca of New York, NY, Joanna Natividad of Killeen; his son-in-law, 1st Lt. Ismael Natividad of Baghdad, Iraq; two uncles, Esequiel Gonzales of Pecos, Felix Gonzales of Pecos; his sister-in-law Vickie Gomez; two brothers in-laws, Alvin Gomez of Odessa, Frank Gomez of Pasadena; three nephews, Damian Gomez of Parker Heights, Fabien Gomez of Odessa, Zach Gomez of Carrolton; two nieces, Michele Gomez of Ft. Worth, Marisa Reschman of Odessa; great-niece and God-daughter, Alexis Jade Gomez of San Antonio. Jose Rosalio Candelas, 84, of Saragosa, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in El Paso. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, April 23, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Saragosa.

Mass is scheduled for 9 a.m., Saturday, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Chuch with burial in Saragosa Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Calientes, Mexico, was owner and operator of Candelas Grocery in Saragosa.

Candelas was preceded in death by his wife, Paz Candelas.

Survivors include four sons, Saul, Javier, Sergio and Gabriel Candelas; one daughter, Priscila Candelas of El Paso; two brothers, Juan and Jose Candelas; two sisters, Rosa and Soledad Candelas; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Lana Ramsey

Lana Ramsey, 59, of Pecos, died April 15, in Louisville, Ky. at a Jewish hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., April 28, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. She was born March 31, 1945, in Greenville, SC., to Martha Jay and the late Julian Fredrick Jay.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Ramsey of Pecos; two daughters, Constance and Catherine Thomas of Kentucky; two sons, Aubrey and Michael Thomas of Maryland; her mother, Martha J. Jay of Pecos; one brother, John S. Jay of Pecos and many grandchildren.

Epifanio B. Vasquez

Epifanio B. Vasquez, 87, passed away Friday, April 16, 2004 to be with our Heavenly Father. He was a long time resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic Church. Vasquez was a veteran of the US Army, having served during WW II. He retired from the Civil Service after 30 years of service. He was also a bus driver for 10 years for the Ysleta Independent School District.

Vasquez is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Juanita A. Vasquez. Daughters include Gloria Morales and husband Jaime Sr., Dora Alvarez and husband Santiago, Alice Alvarez and husband Dr M. Alvarez, Lorinda Vasquez and Rita E. Vasquez. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, brothers George Vasquez and Johnny Vasquez, and sister Cruz Ugarte.

Visitation was at Hillcrest Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday, April 18. Vigil service was at 7 p.m. at the Hillcrest Chapel. Funeral mass was at 12 noon on Monday, April 19 at St Paul Catholic Church.

Pallbearers were his grandsons Santiago Alvarez Jr., Jaime Morales Jr., J.J. Alvarez and Ricardo Ramirez. Vasquez will be interred Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Arraignments have been entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home.

Danny Ortega

Danny L. Ortega, 46, of Pecos, died Monday, April 19, 2004, at Home Hospice House in Odessa.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 21, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, April 22, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 24, 1957, in Pecos, was a lead operator, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

He was preceded in death by Florencia R. Lara.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Varela Ortega of Pecos; his mother Blasa Lara of Pecos; his father, Mago Ortega; one son, Jesse Daniel Ortega of Pecos; one daugher, Naomi Ortega of Pecos; one brother, Jesse “Keto” Silvas of Pecos; two sisters, Cecilia Varela of Pecos; Melissa Lara and six grandchildren.

Amy McIntire

Amy Lee Kingston McIntire, 85, of Mertzon and formerly of Balmorhea, died April 15, 2004, at her residence.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 20, at the Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel and a memorial service will be at 4 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, at the Methodist Church in Balmorhea.

She was born Feb. 25, 1919, in Pecos, graduated from Balmorhea High School, received her MBA from Sul Ross State University, taught English at the Balmorhea High School for 25 years, was the mayor of Balmorhea for two terms, was on the Water District Board of Directors.

McIntire and her husband donated the water well to Madera Valley water system. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claiborn A. McIntire; one sister, Louise “Tudie” Patrick and one brother, Jack Kingston.

Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Lee McIntire; one sister, Patty Kingston Towler and many nieces and nephews.

Ana A. Hernandez, 68, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at her residence in Marfa. Mass was held at 10 a.m., today, Monday, April 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Mike Alcuino officiating. Burial will be in Merced Cemetery.

She was born April 5, 1936, in Shafter, graduated from Marfa High School, was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Irene Fuentes of Nolanville, Isabel Coffee of Whitehouse; four sons, Fernando Hernandez of Duncanville, Freddy Hernandez of Midland, Frank Hernandez of Leander, Felix Hernandez of Austin; one sister, Elizabeth Carrillo of Alpine; one brother, Carlos Aguilar of Ft. Stockton; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lonnie Thomas Graves, 46, died Wednesday, April 14, 2004.

He was born Nov. 7, 1957, was a longtime Pecos resident before moving to Carlsbad, N.M.

Graves was preceded in death by one son, Timothy Graves.

Rita Ramirez, 93, of Barstow, died Sunday, April 11, 2004, in Carlsbad, N.M. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., today, at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church in Barstow.

She was born April 8, 1911, in Presidio, was a housewife, a longtime Barstow resident and a Catholic.

Marvin Frazier

Marvin Frazier, 98, of Pecos, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Reeves County Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., today, at Merkel Cemetery with Curtis Benetley officiating.

He was born March 15, 1906, in Merkel, moved to Pecos in the 1950’s, in 1986 retired, was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years, a Shriner, a member of the Eastern Star and a Methodist.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Valerie and a son, Deverle Frazier. Survivors include his wife, Clara Frazier of Pecos; one son, Clifford Frazier of Iraan; one step-son, Thomas Sanders; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Johnny Cordero

Johnny Cordero, 61, of Midland, died Friday, April 9, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 13, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Midland with Father Rodney white officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

He was born June 12, 1942 in Marfa, was raised in Pecos, moved to Midland in 1978, worked for Tefteller for many years, then worked for Midland Memorial Hospital and Midland Memorial Rehab Hospital until 1997 when he retired, as a security guard. He was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church and St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. Cordero was preceded in death by his father, Juan Cordero; his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Cordero; four daughters, Annette Dillman, Aimee Ortiz, Abby Meja of Midland, Janie Zuniga of Odessa; four adopted sons, Joseph, Jacob, Joel Cordero of Midland, Robbie Mendias of Cleburne; his mother, Mary Cordero; one sister and ten grandchildren.

Marcus Cleveland

Marcus Cleveland, 73, of Pecos, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, in Midland. Graveside services will be held at noon, Saturday, April 3, at Fairview Cemetery with J.E. McCormick officiating.

He was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Oxford, Lousiana, was a retired superintendent, had served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean conflict, was a longtime Pecos resident and a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Daryl Cleveland of Miami, Fla.; one daughter, Holly Espinosa of Midland; one brother, Grover Cleveland of Abilene; three sisters, Flora Lambert of Colorado Springs, Colo., Wanda Passmore of Midland, Camille Gilbert of Houston and one grandson.

Grady Lee Kellar

Grady Lee Kellar, 89, of Odessa, died early Sunday morning, March 28, 2004, at his son’s home in Coahoma, after a long illness.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 31, with Elwin Collom of Coahoma officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, in Odessa.

Grady was born June 19, 1914 to Rolin and Pearl Kellar in Cross Plains. Grady worked in the oil, gas and sulphur business. He and his family lived in McCamey, for many years before moving to Kentucky and West Virginia where he worked in the oiil and gas business, then back to Odessa. He also lived in Pecos, for 14 years while working for Pennzoil Sulphur before retiring in 1982 and moving back to Odessa.

He was preceded in death in 1990 by his wife of 50 years, Lena Kellar; his parents, Rolin and Pearl Kellar; three sisters, Troy Hoague, Clois Campbell and Billie Kellar; three brothers, Grover Kellar, Herman Kellar and Curtis Kellar and one grandson, Ronald Burke Gerbert.

Survivors include one son, Calvin K. Kellar of Coahoma; one daughter, Gradene Gerbert and son-in-law Bob Gerbert of Pecos; one brother, Doil Kellar and sister-in-law Loy of Aransas Pass; five grandchildren, C. Kenneth Kellar, Jr. and wife Linda Fayetteville, Tennessee, Valerie Kellar Powell and husband Jeff of Scottsville, Kentucky, Kara Gerbert of Alpine, Robert Gerbert of San Marcos, and Kristin Kellar of Coahoma. Five great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces also survive as well as many friends. Grady was a loving dad and granddad and will be forever missed.

Paula N. Pineda, 90, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in a Pecos area hospital. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marfa.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Rick Ruiz officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Ruidosa, Tx., had been a resident of Marfa since 1935 and was a homemaker.

Pineda was preceded in death by her husband, Faustino Pineda, Jr.

Survivors include four daughters, Maria F. Vizcaino and Socorro P. Whatley of Marfa, Irene Hernandez of Presidio, Tina P. Ramos of Del Rio; five sons, Faustino A. Pineda of Redford, Leo N. Pineda and Robert N. Pineda of El Paso, Rene N. Pineda of Marfa, Martin Pineda of Austin; one brother, Calistro M. Nunez of Marfa; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Winiford Williams

Winiford R. Williams, 62, of Andrews, died Saturday, March 27, in Andrews. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 30, in the McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clay Hale, pastor of First Church of The Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery.

He was born July 29, 1941, in Aanta Anna, Tx., was a gager, retiring from Pride Oil in 1999.

Betty Jo Croft, 68, of Barstow, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

She was born May 8, 1935, in Dallas and was a dietary supervisor.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Croft of Barstow; one son, Robert Parsons of Big Spring; one daughter, Kathy Hogg of Big Spring; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Jose Jesus “J.J.” Madrid, 15, of Pecos, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.

He was born Feb. 2, 1989, in Odessa, was a student, a lifetime Pecos resident, a member of the Reeves County Sheriff’s Department Explorers and a Catholic.

Survivors include his parents, Jose and Ofelia Madrid of Pecos; his grandmother, Rosa Venegas Rodriguez of Ojinaga, Mexico and two sisters, Erica and Jessica Madrid of Pecos.

Marvin Smith

Marvin Smith, 89, of Silverton, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at the Stilwell Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 26, in the Church of Christ in Pecos with Joe Smith officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born March 28, 1914, in Silverton, was a mechanic for over 50 years, he and partner Dick Patillo owned and operated a repair shop, was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Pecos and attended the Stillwell Church of Christ after moving to Stillwell in 1998.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Smith; three brother and four sisters. Survivors include two sons, Joe Smith of Stilwell, Okla., Wayland L. smith of Mesa, Ariz. and four grandchildren.

Rafael V. Hernandez, 83, of Pecos, died Sunday, March 21, 2004 in Garland, Texas.A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. today, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial will be in the Balmorhea Cemetery.He was born June 9, 1920, and was a retired concrete truck driver. He was an army war II veteran. A lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include one son, Daniel Hernandez of Pecos; two sisters Manuela Alverez of Pecos and Delia Lozano of Odessa; two grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jose Madrid

Services are incomplete for Jose Jesus Medrid, 15, who died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at Covenant Medical Center In Lubbock.

Eula Bolinger

Eula Lewallen Bolinger, 93, of Pecos, died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Midland. Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 20, at Northside Temple Baptist Church with J.E. McCormick officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

She was born Oct. 27, 1910, in Voca, Tx., was a retired motel manager, a long-time Pecos resident and a Baptist.

Bolinger was preceded in death by her husband, Malcom; one son, Malcom Jr. and one grandson.

Survivors include two sons, James Bolinger of Lampasses, Charles Bolinger of Midland; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

Lloyd Goodrich

Lloyd Goodrich, 64, of Mentone, died Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 20, at Mentone Ranch, Farm Road 867.

He was born Feb. 1, 1940, in Pecos, was an engineer, had served in the U.S. Army and had been a long time Mentone resident.

Survivors include two brothers, John Goodrich of Orroyo Seco, N.M., Floyd Goodrich of Houston and one sister, Jean Obert of Riverton, Wyoming.

William Ellis

William “Bill” Tacon Ellis, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, in Tucson, Ariz., after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 13, at Christ Church United Methodist, 655 N. Craycroft, Tucson, Ariz.

He was born Jan. 22, 1922, in Westbrook, was a former Pecos and El Paso resident, a lifelong retired member of Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local 49. Ellis was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Frances Packard Ellis of El Paso, his second wife, Betty Mussey Ellis of Pecos; his parents, Enos Van and Besse Mae Ellis of Pecos and his sister, Matha Louise “Sis” Slack of Pecos.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellis of Tucson, Ariz.; two children, Linda Ellis and husband, Marshall Jones of Tucson, Ariz., Mark Bradley and wife Lori Ellis, of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandchildren, Mark Bradley, Jr. and wife Andrea of Las Cruces, N.M. and Thomas James and fiancé, Jessica of Las Cruces, N.M.; great-grandchildren, Christine Elizabeth and Joshua William, of Las Cruces, N.M.; sisters, Mary Sue Leach of San Antonio, Nita Parker of Longview and Peggy Jo Ellis of Pecos.

Jesus Franco

Jesus Franco, 45, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at his residence. A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Santa Rosa De Lima Catholic Church with Father Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born July 17, 1958, in Ojinaga, Chih., Mexico, was a food industry supervisor, a long-time Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Franco of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Jesus and Julio Franco of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Lucia and Elena Franco of Pecos; one brother, Sylvino Franco of Ojinaga, Mexico; four sisters, Beatrice Cantu of Lubbock, Foustina DeLeon of Amarillo, Elsa Jimenez of Artesia, N.M., Elena Lease of Artesia, N.M. and seven grandchildren.

Armittie “Mitty” Howell Threatt

Armittie “Mitty” Howell Threatt, 82, died on Sunday, March 7. Threatt was a long-time resident of Odessa. She was born to Victor and Daisy Howell, on August 2, 1921 in Duran, N.M. She graduated from Pecos High School, and married James Threatt on February 9, 1946. She was a teacher, a youth sponsor at church, and a scout leader.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Richard Howell.

She is survived by her son, Charles Travis Threatt, her daughters, Kaye Patterson, Sandy Varnell and Janice Anne Bowman, all of Odessa. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her brother Jimmy Howell of Columbus, and her sisters, Vivian Roberts of Odessa and Verdie Howell of Pecos.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 9 at the Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 7 at Sunset Memorial Garden, with rev. Clark Rocca and Rev. Don Fankhauser officiating. Services have been entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Natividad Baeza

Natividad Baeza, 89, of Pecos, died Friday, March 5, 2004, at her residence. A memorial service is scheduled for noon, Sunday, March 7, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Juan Palasos officiating.

She was born Dec. 24, 1914, in Bolsa Cemada, Tx., was a homemaker and a long time Pecos resident.

Baeza was preceded in death by her husband, Acencion Baeza.

Survivors include one son, Jesse and his wife Sofia Baeza of Pecos; five daughters, Frances and husband, Mario Valenzuela of Pecos, Irene Ramos, Otalia "Tillie" Baeza of Pecos, Lydia and husband, Udil Aldrete of Abilene, Barbara and husband, Frank Melendez of San Antonio; one sister, Margarita Polanco of Oregon; 16 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Clois Clark

Clois Quintis Clark, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2004 in Graham. Funeral services are scheduled Friday, March 5, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in the Morrison Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James C. Hill, pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow Friday, March 5, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. in Cross Plains Cemetery in Cross Plains, Texas with Reverend Kevin Henson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.

Mr. Clark was born October 25, 1911 in Cross Cut, Texas to Johnny Ciscero and Judson (Henslee) Clark. He married Ruth Louise Barr October 25, 1936 in Cross Plains, Texas. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2003. Mr. Clark was a longtime resident of Pecos, Texas where he was the owner of Motor Parts store in Pecos, Texas. He moved to Graham in 1996 from Pecos, Texas. Mr. Clark was a member of the First Baptist Church in Graham.

Survivors include; two daughters, Vicki Ferrell and husband Bob of Houston and Kaye Turner and husband Jess of Graham; sister, Billie Jehle of Costa Mesa, California; four grandchildren, Holly Lieou and husband Narith of Allen, Kevin Henson and wife Kerry of Wilmore, Kentucky, Derek Turner and fiancé Courtney Hallmark of Frisco, Keri Stuart and husband Ricky of Weatherford; four great grandchildren, Jordan and Olivia Lieou, Kayla Henson, and Trey Stuart. Mr. Clark was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jo Ann Clark.

Manuel Rivera

Manuel Rivera Sr., 66, of Odessa, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at Medical Center Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Friday March 5, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, March 6, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Woodruff officiating. Burial will be in Kermit Cemetery in Kermit.

He was born Sept.22, 1937 in Kent, owned and operated the Kermit Drive Inn on Second Street and was a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Eleanor L. Rivera of Odessa; four sons, Manuel L. Rivera, Jr. of Odessa, Ruben L. Rivera of Burleson, Eddie L. and Lee Roy Rivera of Odessa; one daughter, Mary Ellen Dodd of Wink; four brothers, Gilbert Rivera of El Paso, Thomas Rivera of Pecos, David Rivera of Kermit, Danny Rivera of Houston; one sister, Alice Torres of Hobbs, N.M.; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Jack Duke

Jack Duke, 75, of Pecos, died March 1, 2004, at Reeves County Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 4 at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with Randy Foster officiating.

He was born Nov. 25, 1928, in Naravisa, N.M., was a car dealership owner, had served in the U.S. Army and was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Duke of Pecos; two sons, Kevin Duke of Pecos, Craig Duke of Midland; four brothers, Ross Duke of Clovis, N.M., Jim Duke of Amarillo, Gene Duke of Brownfield, Darell Duke of Broadview, N.M.; five sisters, Jessie Clark of Washington State, Martha Burke of Amarillo, Helen Jacobi of Lake Charles, La., Donnie Frost of Albuquerque, N.M., Connie Lamb of Denver, Colo. and four grandchildren.

Sharion Durham

Sharion Kay Durham, 56, of Molalla, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 28, 2004, in Molalla Funeral Chapel.

She was born June 25, 1947, in Lockney. In 1998, she moved from Houston to Portland, and was a loan officer for Mellon Mortgage Co. and Meritage Mortgage Corp. She moved to Molalla in 2003.

Survivors include one son, James Daniels; one daughter, Cassandra Gunn; two sisters, Wanda Greer, Treasure Hill and one grandchild.

Melba Simmons Smith, 77, of Granbury, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March, 3, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with W.L. Hopkins officiating. She was born July 30, 1926, in Pecos, was a homemaker and had lived in Granbury a long time.

Smith was preceded in death by two daughters, Keely and Chere. Survivors include Ralph K. Smith Jr. of Granbury; one son, Jesse W. Locke of Granbury; one brother, William J. Simmons of Ft. Worth; two sisters, Tommie Lu Willcoxson of San Diego, Calif., Novella Davis of Pecos and several grandchildren.

Malcolm Beazley

Malcolm K. "Mac" Beazley, 85, of Kerrville, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, in a Kerrville hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, at the First Christian Church with burial in Glen Rest Cemetery.

Beazley was born Feb. 19, 1919, in Marianna, Ark., was a resident of Kerrville since 1988 and a prior resident of Monahans, was a B24 pilot in the United States Army Air Corps, serving as a First Lieutenant. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a retired Mechanical Engineer for Texas Utilities.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Hibbits Beazley.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Clark Beazley of Kerrville; two sons, William Beazley, D.O. Bezley of Fairhhope, Ala. and three grandchildren.

Francis Dominguez, 75, of Pecos, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Hospice House in Odessa.

Dominguez was born Nov. 15, 1928, in Presidio, was a homemaker, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include one son, Tony Dominguez of Pecos; two brothers, Cruz Granado of Midland, Ramon Granado of Pecos; one sister, Nore Madrid of Pecos and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born Nov. 25, 1953, in Pecos, was a cook, a lifetime Pecos, resident and a Catholic.

Alma Vick

Alma Opal Vick, 89, of Midland, died Friday, Feb. 27, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., today, Monday, March 1, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with Ron Garcia officiating. She was born Sept. 25, 1914, in Graham, Tx., was a telephone operator and a Baptist.

Vick was preceded in death by her husband, John Roy Vick and one daughter Betty Brown.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Hamilton of Midland; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two great-great-grandchildren.

Emma Johnson

Emma "Sue" Johnson, 72, of Traverse City, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, at Munson Medical Center, after suffering an aneurysm.

Memorial services will take place in the spring, her favorite time of the year. She was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Kress, Tx., was the daughter of Wade and Daisy (Alexander) Hampton.

Johnson lived in Olney, as a child, until she met and married her sweetheart and next-door neighbor, Charlie Johnson. They were married on May 7, 1948 and their adventures together took them from the oil fields in Texas, to Colorado, Singapore, and later to Michigan, where she lived for the last 32 years.

Sue was an avid gardener, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was unusually energetic for her age, which infected all those who knew her. Sue doted not only on her immediate family, but also friends, her relatives in Texas and her Michigan and Irish in-laws. She was affectionately known as "Coco" by all the children who knew and loved her. Sue will be fondly remembered for her generous, unpretentious spirit and practical jokes.

Besides her devoted husband, Charlie, she is survived by two daughters, Becky (Dan) Dixon and Melissa (Enda McGonigle) Johnson; two treasured grandchildren, Erin Painter and Eamonn McGonigle; niece, Cindy (David) Nixon; great niece Lauren Dixon; Jigger's partner, Rick Gould; brother, Jack (Jimmie) Hampton; sister, Jean (Don) McWhirter; four nieces; one nephew; and great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James "Jigger" Johnson; brothers, James Wade and Norman Hampton; and their spouses.

Robert Montgomery

Robert Allen Montgomery, born Feb. 4, 1922, in Longworth, Tx. died on Feb. 22, 2004, in Odessa, following heart bypass surgery.

Memorial services will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 25, in the Village Hall at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at Sweetwater Cemetery.

Montgomery was the second of five brothers born to Fred and Lucille Montgomery. In 1939 he graduated from Roby High School, in Roby, Tx. Following his military service in World War II, where he served as a naval officer on an LST in the South Pacific, he graduated from Texas Tech University in 1947 with a major in agronomy.

His work career began with Western Cotton Oil Company, a division of Anderson Clayton, Inc., where he served as a division manager in Pecos. He also worked for El Paso Natural Gas as the administrative assistant to the chairman of the Board and as a Vice-President, and as President of El Paso Development Company. Montgomery was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa and previously a member of Methodist Churches in El Paso, Pecos and Abilene where he served in various leadership capacities.

He is survived by his daughters, Jolene Montgomery of Big Spring and Melanie Damron of Austin, together with her husband Tyler and their three children, Ashley, Ty and Brooke Rogers. He is also survived by brothers William and wife Lucile of Fort Worth, Joe and wife Eda of Georgetown, and Dudley and wife Patty of Pecos. Other family survivors include several cousins and nieces.

Anita Orosco

Anita Botello Orosco, 59, of Ballwan Park, Calif., died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, in California.

Funeral services are pending.

She was a former Pecos resident and a Pecos High School graduate. Orosco was preceded in death by her father, Juan Botello and grandmother, Matilde Botello.

Survivors include her mother, Angelita Botello; her husbnd, Jesus Orosco; two sons, Tony Patterson of Illinois, Mark Orosco of California; one daughter, Charlette Orosco; one brother, Roy Botello of Florida; one sister, Lupe Mora of California and numerous cousins from Pecos and the surrounding area.

Era Williams

Era Williams, 86, of Tyler, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, in a Tyler hospital. Entombment will be in Rose Hill Mausoleum in Tyler.

She was born July 10, 1917, in Gilmer, lived in Pecos prior to moving to Tyler 23 years ago, was a Methodist and the owner /operator of Williams Department Store in Pecos. She was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce and 20th Century Club in Pecos.

Williams was preceded in death by her brother, Raymah Williams. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Carlton Williams of Tyler; two nephews and other relatives.

Charlie Wein

Charlie Eugene Wein, 75, of Pecos, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 24, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with Greer Willis officiating.

He was born May 22, 1928, in Midland, to George and Viola Wein. They moved to Monahans where they raised their family.

Charlie married JoAnn Rich of Monahans. They moved to Pecos in 1962, where Charlie worked for and later owned C&G Electric and C&G Refrigeration Service for 30 years.

He was in the National Guard for 11 years and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 55 years.

He was preceded in death by his father, George O. Wein, his mother, Viola Wein, his brother, Corbett, and his beloved wife JoAnn.

Survivors include, his brothers, George and wife Dorthey of Odessa, David and Christine of Colorado and one sister, Pal Newman of Monahans; four sons, Charlie M. Wein and wife Raynell of Pecos, Paul Wein and wife Pam, of California, Pat Wein and wife Brenda of Austin, Dean Wein and wife Jody of La Vaca, Arkansas and one daughter Jodee McIver and husband Randy of Greenwood, Arkansas; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Francisco Cruz Lopez, 82,of Pecos, died, Friday, Feb. 20, 2004, in San Antonio. A chapel service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 23, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born Sept. 17, 1921, in Olga, Ariz., a lifetime Pecos resident, was a retired butcher, had served in the U.S. Air Force and was a Baptist. Lopez was preceded in death by his wife, Maria R. Lopez and one step-daughter, Bertha Maldonado.

Survivors include two daughters, Francis Orona of Pecos, Blanca Lopez Mascorro of San Antonio; one step daughter, Blanca Vargas of Mexico; one brother, Cateleno Lopez of Florida; two sisters, Mercedez and Blanca Lopez, of Florida; 18 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.

Juan Inez Barreno, 71, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at his residence.

Rachel Ann Licon, 14, of Pecos, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at Lubbock Covenant Hospital, following an auto accident.

She was born March 23, 1989, in Odessa, was a freshman at Pecos High School and a Catholic.

R.D. Ross

R.D. Ross, 83, of Miles died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, in a local hospital. He was born on Nov. 18, 1920, near Deleon, to Cora Etta Bays and Morgan Davis Ross. He was named after the Rev. Reuben "R.D." Davis Ross, who founded the Round Grove Baptist Church in Erath County and the Liberty Baptist Church in Deleon.

R.D. married Faye Jeanne Dawkins on June 9, 1948, in Fort Worth. He served his country in World War II, in Normandy, France and Central Europe. He received many medals and awards for his service.

R.D. worked on many ranches in the early years of his life in Post, Kermit and Muleshoe. He then worked many years in the oilfield before retiring. They then moved to Miles in 1982, where they enjoyed raising livestock and gardens, growing fruit and making wine.

The family would like to thank Carolyn and Tina Garcia for the care and attention they extended to R.D. over the past year. He grew to love them like his own family.

Visitation for family and friends will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 15, at First Baptist Church in Miles with the funeral to follow at 3 p.m., with Brother Eddie Tingle officiating. Interment will follow at Miles Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mike Isham, Bobby Kasberg, Randy Gentry, Fernando Reyes, Lee Wilson and Josh Pemberton.

R.D. is survived by one son, Lanham Ross and wife, Cheryl, of Miles; two daughters, Marijohn Ross of Miles, Leah Fuentes and husband, Sam of Pecos; one sister, Helen Aycock of San Angelo; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren with one on the way.

Una Faye Terry

Una Faye Collins Terry, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at Kings Daughters Hospital in Temple.

Services were held at 2 p.m., today, Monday, Feb. 9, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mount Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 7, 1929, in Cushing, attended public schools in Cushing as well as Jacksonville and retired from over 30 years of custodial service in the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD.

Terry was preceded in death by her mother, Alice; one daughter, Faye Deloris Ellis and son, Auda B. Bradford; two sisters, Violet Wilkins and Alene Smith; four brothers, Preston Wilkins, Eddie Lynn Walker, Orin Gene Walker and George Ray Walker.

Survivors include her husband, Larry J. Terry; one son, Willie E. Collins Jr.; one daughter, Rosa A. Collins; her father, Eddie B. Walker; one sister, Velmon Hundley; one brother, Eddie B. Walker; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Anastacia Mendoza

Anastacia Mendoza, 81, of Pecos, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Mass is scheduled for noon, Saturday, Feb. 7, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Manuel Munoz officiating. Burial will be in Santa Rosa Catholic Cemetery. She was born Jan. 22, 1923, in Bado De Piedra, Mexico, had lived in Pecos for many years, was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors include her husband, Jesus Sanchez Mendoza of Pecos; two sons, Nestor Mendoza of Pecos, Robert Mendoza of Odessa; three daughters, Elvia Mendoza Ortega of Pecos, Estella Mendoza Perez of San Antonio, Rosa Angelica Carbajal of Odessa; four brothers, Elario, Ramon and Jose Garcia of Pecos, Manuel Garcia of Indio, Calif.; three sisters, Paula Garcia Salazar of San Angelo, Consuelo Garcia Ortega of Pillares, Mexico and Esperanza Garcia Tarrango of Grand Prairie.

Delfina Hinojos

Delfina D. Hinojos, 97, of Midland, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at her residence. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 6, at Martinez Funeral Home.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 7, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Arturo Pestin officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 24, 1906, in Ojinaga, Chih., Mexico, was a Catholic and a member of the Guadalupanas.

Survivors include three sons, Eddie D. Hinojos of Odessa, Armando D. Hinojos and Freddy D. Hinojos of Pecos; three daughters, Juanita H. Lujan, Carolina H. Calderon of Dallas, Sarah H. Patsy Beauchamp, 74, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Midland Memorial Hospital.

Services were held at 2 p.m., today, Monday, Feb. 2, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Greer Willis officiating. Burial was in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 3, 1929, in San Angelo, was a homemaker and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Don Beauchamp of Pecos; two daughters, Dana Molinar of Midland, Donna Bradley of Pecos; one brother, Bobby Bell of Odessa; three sisters, Sondra Dingler of Odessa, Frances Waldrop of Pecos, Marjorie Peterson of Sacramento, Calif.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Adela T. Jaquez, 79, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, at Hospice House in Odessa.

Mass was held at 10 a.m., today, Monday, Feb. 2, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born March 13, 1924, in Presidio, was a homemaker, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include two sons, Felipe Rodriguez of San Antonio, Efren Rodriguez of Pecos; one daughter, Ana Eva Rodriguez of Pecos; four brothers, Marcos Tobar of Odessa, Raymundo Tobar of Crane, Fabin Tobar of Iraan, Simon Tobar of Fort Stockton; four sisters, Isabel Gonzales of Fort Stockton, Elpidia Avila of Fort Stockton, Elidia Vejil of Crane, Paula Kiser of Odessa and four grandchildren.
