Alice Lasater

Alice Grace Lasater, 89, of Pecos, died Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Regency Hospital in Odessa.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 30, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Burial will be at 4 p.m., Friday, at Mertzon Cemetery in Mertzon.

She was born May 22, 1917, in Perry, Okla., was a homemaker, a lifetime Pecos resident and a member of the Episcopal Church.

Lasater was preceded in death by her husband Bigun.

Survivors include two sons, Tom Lasater of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Jim Lasater of Plano; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mary Matta

Mary J. Matta, 67, of Balmorhea died Saturday, June 24, 2006, in Albuquerque, N.M.

She as born Sept. 23, 2938, in Marfa, was a housewife and a Catholic.

Survivors include Ruben Fuentez of Balmorhea; three children, Patricia Matta, Joseph Matta and Cynthia Lenz.

Joe Barton

Joe Henry Barton, 89, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2006.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 30, 2006 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Burial will be on Saturday, June 31, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Miller Cemetery.

Tony Jares

Tony Bernard Jares, 50, of Ft. Worth, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, at Blessing Colongy Chapel, in Mansfield, with burial at noon, at D-FW National Cemetery in Dallas.

He was born May 31, 1956, in Big Spring, the son of Bernard Daniel and Rose Dominguez Jares. He married Kyong Ae Yi on Jan. 5, 1979, in Korea and served in the United States Army.

Jares was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Mary “Babe” Ronelas, Mary Louisa “Candy” Martinez and Gilbert Ortega.

Survivors include his wife, Kyong Jares; one daughter, Christina Rawlinson; two brothers, Christopher and Jerry Jares; two sisters, Debbie Gomez and Yolanda Fuentes and three grandchildren.

Jose Acosta

Jose Cruz S. Acosta, 74, died June 22, 2006, at his residence.

Services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, June 25, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Mount Evergreen Cemetery.

Born in Fort Stockton, the son of Aurelio and Manuela Acosta, he was raised in numerous towns including Imperial and Grandfalls. After working alongside his father for many years, Acosta moved to Pecos and managed several gas stations of his own around Pecos.

For decades he served his family with wisdom and compassion. He was a multifaceted man; independent; strong-willed; a devoted father, husband, grandfather and relative; and most of all, beloved by his family and friends who will miss forever his warmth, generosity, loyalty and laughter.

Cruz was preceded in death by one of his daughters, Gilda Acosta.

Survivors include his wife, Olivia Alvarez Acosta; his parents, Aurelio and Manuela Acosta of Pecos; by his children, daughter, Imelda Acosta and spouse Ruben Gallegos of Austin; daughter, Norma Martinez of Pecos; son David and spouse Lupe Acosta of Pecos, son Danny and spouse Angie G. Acosta of Austin, son Jaime Levario Acosta of Pecos and son Gabriel and spouse Rachel Olson of Dickinson, North Dakota; six sisters, Amelia Reyes, Frances Esparza, Mary Pallan and Rosa Payan all of Pecos, Sylvia Hernandez of Fort Stockton and Concepcion Swanson of El Paso; his grandchildren, Maritza Acosta, Ruben Gallegos, Adrian Gallegos, Ricky G. Sais, Daniel Acosta, Alex Martinez, Criselda Levario and Brittany Garcia; and by three great-grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jose Camacho

Jose “Joe” Camacho Sr., 50, of Pecos, died Monday, June 19, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital, in Odessa.

Mass was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 29, 1955, in Pecos, was a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Camacho was preceded in death by his father, Cornelio Camacho Sr. and brother, Juan Baeza.

Survivors include his mother, Teresa Camacho of Pecos; one son, Jose “Joe” Camacho Jr. of Odessa; one daughter, Brenda C. Villanueva of Odessa; two brothers, Andres Baeza of Pecos, Cornelio Camacho of Ft. Stockton; two sisters, Eva Munoz of Ft. Stockton, Elvira Prieto of Presidio and six grandchildren.

Wesley Curry

Wesley Curry, 62, of Pecos, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006.

A chapel service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 23, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Balmorhea Cemetery.

He was born July 23, 1943, in Tahoka, Tx., was a laborer in the oilfield, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Baptist.

Survivors include one son, Rowdy Wade Curry of Pecos; two daughters, Donna R. Curry of Pecos, Debbie R. Curry of Taylor; one sister, Betty Galloway of Frankfurt; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jose Alfredo Reyes

Jose Alfredo “Jose” G. Reyes, 20, of Pecos, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, in an accident in Loving County.

Mass was held at 2 p.m., at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Sept. 27, 1985, in Pecos, was an oilfield employee, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Reyes was preceded in death by his grandmother Petra L. Gavaldon of Pecos.

Survivors include his wife, Diandra Urias of Pecos; his parents, Alfredo A. and Manuela G. Reyes of Pecos; one daughter, Aubri Shae U. Reyes of Pecos; his grandfather, Pete A. Reyes of Pecos; his grandmother, Maria Felix Reyes; one brother, Pedro G. James Smith

James Smith, 47, of Pecos, died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at Hospice House in Odessa.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 22, at Church of Christ with Fred Dominguez officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born July 6, 1958, in Pecos, was a heavy equipment operator in the oilfield business, was employed by Dale Blackstock, a lifelong Pecos resident, and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his mother, Tommie Jo Blackstock and step-father, Bill Blackstock of Pecos; one sister, Ruby Kay Knab of The Colony, Tx. and one brother, Joe Smith of Midland.

Sonny West

Sonny West, age 66 of Pecos, passed away on Sunday, June 11at the Reeves County Hospital. He was born on October 5, 1939 in Big Spring to Henry and Inez West.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006 at Calvary Baptist Church with Ron Garcia officiating. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos.

Sonny was a long-time resident of Pecos. He married Lola Vaughn on August 16, 1997 in Carlsbad. He loved woodworking and was very talented. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Louis West and one brother, John Davis West.

Survivors include his wife Lola West of Pecos, his mother, Inez West of Big Spring; daughters, Cheryl Handy, Janice Clark and her husband Steve and Theresa Penson and her husband Michael all of Lakeworth, Tx; stepson Rocky Blackstock and his wife Darla of Pecos; stepdaughters, Janice Noyse of Big Spring, Donna Switzer and husband David of Pecos and Glenda Roach also of Pecos; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Lillian Crum Padbury

Lillian Crum Padbury died in El Paso on Saturday, May 13th, 2006. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., in Fairview Cemetery in Pecos, Saturday, June 10.

She was born on August 29th, 1920 to Tom and Bessie Eddins Crum in Pecos, was a member of a pioneer West Texas ranching family and was raised along with her six brothers and sisters on the family ranch near Pecos. She lived in El Paso for more than 50 years.

Padbury was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Padbury.

Survivors: Son, Billy Tom Wilson of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Mabel Crum Dingee of Ft.Worth, and a host of nieces and nephews. Peaceful Garden Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Raymundo Martinez

Raymundo Aguilar Martinez, 75, of Pecos, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at Odessa Regional Hospital in Odessa.

Mass was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Manuel Munoz officiating. Burial was in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born March 4, 1931, in Pecos, was a lifetime Pecos resident, a laborer with a power company and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Faye M. Martinez of Pecos; two daughters, Irma Mickens of Carlsbad, N.M., Isa Stamper of Atlanta, Tx.; one son, Francisco M. Martinez of Pecos.

Chantz Matthew Dickinson-Contreras

Chantz Matthew Dickinson-Contreras, 10 years old left this life to begin his eternal life with his beloved Lord on Saturday, June 3, 2006.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2006 at the West Park Baptist Church in Pecos with Rev. Ray Carreon officiating. Interment will be at the Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque, NM on Wednesday.

Chantz was a joy and inspiration to everyone he met. He was a friend to everyone and a champion of the underdog. He never met a stranger. His loves were baseball, tennis, bionicles, Star Wars and the Army. He wanted to be a soldier and a preacher when he grew up, but never realized he was a preacher every day by the way he lived his life. We have truly lost an Angel.

He is survived by his parents, Jonnathan and Lisa Contreras of Pecos; one brother, Ethan Contreras of Pecos ; one sister, Emily Contreras of Pecos.

Also his cherished grandparents, Boma & Bompa, Barbara and John Dickinson of Albuquerque, NM, Noni & Papa, Gloria & Alex Contreras of Lamesa, aunt & uncles, Laura & Vince Kohr of Albuquerque, Johnny Dickinson of Albuquerque, Debi and Rey Chapa of Ft. Stockton, Cousins, Joseph, Myka, and Lori Chapa of Ft. Stockton, and numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, family & friends.

Visitation will be held at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ismael Tercero

Ismael Tercero, 50, of Pecos, died Friday, June 2, 2006.

A chapel service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, at the Peaceful Garden Funeal Home Chapel with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born July 24, 1955, in Artesia, N.M., was a seisemograph/laborer, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Jehovah’s Witness.

Tercero was preceded in death by his father, Ruben Tercero Sr., and two brothers, Javier and Ruben Tercero.

Survivors include his mother, Catalina G. Tercero of Pecos; four daughters, Desiree Gonzales, Darlene, Katherine and Kathlene Tercero of Odessa; one brother, Abel Tercero of Pecos and two grandchildren.

Mahlon Nobles

Mahlon Clifton Nobles, 76, died Monday, May 29, 2006, at Alderson’s Convalescent Hospital in Woodland.

Private family services to be held at a later date.

He was born May 3, 1930, in Paris, Tx., where he attended area schools graduating from Pecos High School. After high school, he attended Hardin Simmons University in Abilene where he received his Bachelors Degree in business. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948, was a flooring contractor for over 40 years, worked for the U.S. Government in the capacity of adjuster, was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church and a resident of Yolo County for the past nine years.

Nobles was preceded in death by grandsons, Michael Curtis Miller and Dwayne Thomas Nobles.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rose Nobles of Winters; one daughter, Iris Carrion of Esparto; five sons, Mahlon Nobles of Houston, Clifton Lee Nobles and Michael Clinton Nobles of Stockton, Curtis Jock Nobles of Modesto, Timmy Jon Nobles of Manteca; one brother, Jon Mac Nobles of Georgia; 22 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Hector Castillo

Hector Raul Castillo, 63, of Pecos, died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

Mass was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Mike Alcuino officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Feb. 3, 1943, in Monterey, Mexico, worked in a body shop, had lived in Pecos a short time and was a Catholic.

Survivors include one son, Hector R. Castillo Jr. of Big Spring; four daughters, Sylvia Herrera of Pecos, Sara Powell of California, Carmen Celia Costilla and Claudia Jimenez of Eagle Pass; his mother, Carmen Castillo of Pecos; four brothers, Daniel Castillo of Uvalde, Oscar Castillo of San Antonio, Ruben Jr. and Carlos Castillo of Houston; two sisters, Maria De Carmen Rodriguez and Graciella Villa of Houston; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Teresa Vasquez Matta, 90, of Pecos, died Monday, May 22, 2006.

She was born Oct. 15, 1915, in Marfa, was a homemaker, was a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Matta was preceded in death by her husband, Evaristo “Lito” Matta; four brothers, Alberto, Pedro, Fermin and Jose Vasquez; two sisters, Margarita Lujan and Micaela Mendias.

Survivors include four daughters, Celia Castillo of Pecos, Teresa Natividad of Rotan, Delia Alvarez of Dallas, Delma Navarrette of Dallas; five sons, Evaristo Matta of Dallas, Fred Matta of Phoenix, Ariz., Domingo Matta of San Diego, Calif., George Matta of Midland, Jose Luis Vasquez of Odessa; two sisters, Adela Cook of Odessa, Maria De Jesus Cordero of Midland; 47 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Nereo Q. Tarin, 80, of Pecos, died Sunday, May 28, 2006, at Reeves County Hospital.

A Chapel Service was held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born July 16, 1925, in Candelaria, Tx., was a retired equipment operator, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Christian.

Survivors include his wife, Josefina Lujan Tarin; five sons, Emilio Tarin of Odesa, Elias Tarin of Midland, Eloy Tarin of San Marcos, Mario and Eusebio “Chevo” Tarin of Pecos; five daughters, Estella T. Ramirez of Hobbs, N.M., Elva T. Zuniga of Pecos, Elvira T. Calderon of Aurora, Ill., Elfida Tarin of San Marcos, Elia T. Hernandez of Hobbs, N.M.; three brothers, Jose Maria Tarin of El Paso, Jesus Tarin of Pecos, Angel Tarin of Presidio; one sister, Manuela Rodriguez of Roswell, N.M.; 45 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Courtney Holiday

Courtney J. Holiday, 89, died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, in Lincoln, Neb.

Services and burial are planned for a later date in LaCrosse, Kansas.

She was born Nov. 6, 1916, in Grand Saline, Tx., grew up in LaCrosse, Kansas, was a graduate of Kansas City Art Institute, following the second world war she and husband Gordon returned to LaCrosse to make their home. They moved to Pecos in 1968, both were active in the community and members of the Methodist Church. She worked as a bookkeeper in the superintendent’s office of the Pecos Independent School District and upon retirement, they lived in Grove, Okla., for 16 years and then were residents of Lincoln, Neb, since 1998.

Holiday was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gordon Holiday and one brother, Mel Larned.

Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Hischke of Lincoln, Neb.; one son, Kent Holiday of Georgetown, Tx. and two grandchildren.

Maryanna Parmer

Memorial services for Maryanna Parmer, 76, of Mexia will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2006, in Palmer Assembly of God Church with Rev. Carmen Ingram officiating.

Parmer died Dec. 25, 2005 in Mexia.

Parmer was born on Nov. 22, 1929, in Texaco, N.M., was a farmer/goat rancher.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence A. Parmer on June 7, 1995; two daughters, Cheryl Parmer on Feb. 28, 2003, and Carol Parmer in 1959; and one son, Mark Parmer in 1958 and two sisters, Bobbie in 2003 and Joyce in 2002.

Survivors include two sons, Mikal Parmer of Dallas and Alexander Parmer of Groesbeck; two daughters, Nacona Parmer of Denver, Colo., Ida Parmer of Groesbeck; two brothers, Gilbert Blake of Dallas, Johnny Blake of Palestine; three sisters, Patricia Younts, Ida Lou Hallmark of Duncanville, Alvina Janes of Cedar Hill; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren .

Estanislado Galindo

Estanislado “Tanis” Galindo, 76, died Sunday, May 21, 2006.

Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

He was born Nov. 12, 1929, in Presidio, was a lifetime Pecos resident, retired-maintenance, and a Catholic.

Galindo was preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio and Rita M. Galindo; one son, Ted Galindo; four sisters, Delfa Galindo, Juliana Galindo, Celia G. Rocha, Maria G. Larez and one brother, Rito R. Galindo.

Survivors include his wife, Ramona Z. Galindo of Pecos; two sons, George and Steve Galindo of Pecos; three daughters, Elida G. Ybarra, Joann G. Galindo of Pecos; Sylvia G. Lopez of Odessa; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Judge Lee Green

Judge Lee Sledge Green, 69, of Midland, died on Sunday, May 14, 2006. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Worth with Rev. Clark Ford and Dr. William Parkey officiating. Judge Green was born on November 30, 1936 to Gus Sledge Green and Mildred Washburn Green. He was a 1955 graduate of Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth. He received his B.A. in Philosophy from The University of Texas at Austin in 1963 and his law degree from The University of Texas Law School in 1966. In addition to his years in private practice in both Fort Worth and Pecos, he served as an Assistant District Attorney for Tarrant County and as the County Attorney for Reeves County. Judge Green also served as the County Court at Law Judge for Reeves County from 1982 until 2001 when he retired. He was a member of the Texas Bar Association, a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, a Lifetime Member of the Texas Exes, a member of Phi Kappa Sigma, a member of The Fort Worth Club, and a member of Memorial Christian Church in Midland.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Washburn Green.

Judge Green is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jane Jones Green; two daughters, Jane *Ellen Green of Houston and Lee Amy Green of Dallas; a son, Edward Foster Green of Fort Worth; a sister, Jane Green Davis; a sister-in-law, Patsy Van Winkle; two nieces and one nephew.

Thomasa De La O

Thomasa De La O, 90, of Pecos, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland.

She was born Dec. 30, 1915, in Douglas, Ariz., was a lifetime Pecos resident and a housewife.

De La O was preceded in death by one son, Solomon Munoz Jr.; one daughter, Ageda Nunez; her first husband, Solmon Munoz Sr. and her second husband, Manuel De La O.

Survivors include three daughters, Mercedes Anaya and Elena Lozano of Odessa, Teresa Moreno of Houston; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.

Raymundo Jaramillo Gomez, 84, of Pecos, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at Reeves County Hospital.

He was born Jan. 6, 1922, in Barstow, was a lifetime Pecos resident, a retired mechanic, served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a Catholic.

Gomez was preceded in death by his wife, Nieves Bustamante Gomez and one brother Angel Villalobos.

Survivors include one son, Reeves County Sheriff Arnulfo “Andy” Gomez of Pecos; two daughters, Grace Morales and Yolanda Martinez of Pecos; one brother, Santana Villalobos; four sisters, Modesta Rivera of Alton, Acenciona “Chona” Morales of Big Spring, Arcaria Matta of San Diego, Calif., Castrula Huffmanof Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Raymundo Fuentez, Arnulfo Gomez Jr., Anthony Gomez, Amy Porras, Michelle M. Lillian Crum Padbury

El Paso - Lillian Crum Padbury died in El Paso on Saturday, May 13th, 2006.

Graveside services will be held in Fairview Cemetery in Pecos, at a time to be determined.

She was born on August 29th, 1920 to Tom and Bessie Eddins Crum in Pecos, was a member of a pioneer West Texas ranching family and was raised along with her six brothers and sisters on the family ranch near Pecos. She lived in El Paso for more than 50 years.

Padbury was preceded in death by her husband, Pat Padbury.

Survivors: Son, Billy Tom Wilson of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Mabel Crum.

Billy Jo Curry, 64, of Pecos, died Friday, May 5, 20206, in Pecos.

She was born April 8, 1942, in El Paso, was a lifetime Pecos resident, a former newspaper delivery person and a Baptist.

Pascual Sanchez Jr., 28, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland.

He was born March 17, 1978, in Pecos.

Mariana Scripps

Mariana Rocha Scripps, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 29, 2006, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on June 4, 1925, in Pecos, Texas to Francisco Rocha, of Native American descent and Leonor Rayos Rocha of Pecos. In 1948, she married Robert “Bob” P. Scripps, who served in the U.S. Army Infantry from March 1941 until August 1945 in the Pacific War. He was a farmer, owned a machine shop and was a director of the E. W. Scripps Company until he retired. The family moved to Fredericksburg from Balmorhea in 1981.

With her long black hair in braids down to her shoulders, she was known to everyone as “Ama.” She dedicated her life to family and her home was always full of children as she helped raise many others besides her own. Her favorite color was red and she loved to laugh, dance and sing. She enjoyed family gatherings and was famous for her homemade tortillas, beans and chili.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Frank Rocha, Maximino Rocha and Alvino Rocha; her sisters, Sara Jaramillo and Rita Hernandez.

Mariana is survived by her husband, Robert P. Scripps; her brother, Urbano Rocha, of Midland and her children, Rebecca S. Brickner and husband, Jeff of Fredericksburg; Robert P. Scripps Jr., of Fredericksburg; William A. Scripps and wife, Luz Ma (Norma), of Fredericksburg; Corina S. Granado and husband, Ray, of Fredericksburg; Margaret S. Klenzing and husband, Gary of Fredericksburg; Jimmy R. Scripps and wife, June, of Fredonia; Adam R. Scripps, of Fredericksburg; Eva S. Attal and husband, Sam, of Colorado; Mary Ann S. Sanchez and husband, George, of Fredericksburg; Henry R. Scripps and wife, Michelle, of Fredericksburg, and Virginia S. Vasquez and husband, Feliciano of Spring Branch; 34 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and numerous other family members and friends.

Hovis Windham, 63, of Pecos, died Sunday, May 5, 2006, at Hospice House in Odessa.

He was born Nov. 12, 1942, in Austin, was a welder, served in Vietnam and had been a Pecos resident for a long time.

Henry Kelly

Henry H. Kelly age 86 of Olden Texas died Saturday in Eastland.Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday May 10 at the Edwards Funeral Chapel in Eastland. Burial will be in the Eastland City Cemetery.

Mr. Kelly was born May 22, 1919 in Pecos Texas to Thomas M. and Nora Huelster Kelly. He was a graduate of Sul Ross University and taught school in Mentone Texas and served as principal in the Mentone School. He left teaching and purchased a Bob tail truck and began working in the Oil patch hauling oilfield equipment. He also purchased a Texaco Service Station in Pecos. He met his wife at the service station one day and two months later he married her, Nona Calley on June 22, 1946 in Carlsbad New Mexico. He sold out and moved to Haltom City where he purchased land and a business for a while until moving to Olden in 1967. He worked for A.T. Barron Trucking Company hauling featherlite products until the plant closed. He then worked for Donnie Moore hauling coal from Thurber Texas. He retired and helped his Mike in his cabinet making shop until recently retiring due to health reasons. He also farmed and ranched. He enjoyed raising goats, chickens and visiting with people.

He was an elder of the Eastland Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He was preceded in death by 2 Brothers and 2 Sisters.

He is survived by: his wife Nona of Olden; one son and daughter in law: Mike and Susie Kelly of Eastland; one daughter Joann Lowe of Keller Texas; a daughter and son in law: Colleen and Kim Martin of Seymour Texas; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren; four sisters, Lela Nance of Pecos, Tommie Maxine of Pennsylvania, Joann Malett of Alamogordo, N.M. and Lenora Blanchard of Pecos.

Mr. Lott passed away May 8, 2006 at a Tyler hospital. He was born September 6, 1931 in Rogers, NM to the late Raymond & Marie Luce Lott. Mr. Lott was a foreman for Texas Oil & Gas, was Baptist and had served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He had lived in Grand Saline for the last 25 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Ila May Jones.

Bobby Gross

Bobby Jack Gross, 72, a retired veterinarian, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at a local nursing center.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Monday in Laurel Land Memorial Park.

He grew up in Big Spring and attended Texas A&M University. He was Southwest Conference Champion in shotput and discus, held the record for seven years, graduated as a doctor of veterinary medicine in 1959, made his home in Pecos, where he practiced veterinary medicine for 25 years. He moved to Fort Worth and he worked for the Texas Animal Health Commission for six years, retired in 1993 and was a member of Southcliff Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Ann Gross; one son, Brian James Gross of Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Linda Suzanne Hermann of Mansfield; one sister, Lindel Gross Fletcher of Irving and two grandchildren.

Benjamin Price, 62, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006.

He was born on April 22, 1944, in Breckenridge, to Edgar Lee Price and Hazel Ruth Roediger Price. He was a Christian Scientist and a U.S. Army Veteran, graduated from Breckenridge Midwestern State University, was member of the Texas State Teachers Association, was an original member of the Breckenridge Boys Choir and at the time of his death was a professor at Odessa College.

Edward Leon Henn, 82, of Andrews died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at his daughter’s home in Andrews.

He was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Orlando, Okla., served in the U.S. Navy, was a drilling superintendent for Elenburg Exploration for over 15 years and several other companies over the years, move to in and out of Andrews several times, but moved back to stay in 1983 from Montana. He was a member and former Branch President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Andrews.

Annevelyn Eisenwine

Annevelyn R. Eisenwine, a long-time resident of Pecos and Ennis, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at the Claystone Healthcare Center in Ennis.

She was born Nov. 17, 1912, to Hugh and Blanche Beaumier Roberson, a pioneer family in the Pecos area. In 1932 she was crowned first queen of the Pecos Rodeo. She married Norman A. Eisenwine on March 18, 1933. They had five children. Mr. Eisenwine preceded her in death in 2001. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Pecos, the Merry Wives Club and the Twentieth Century Club, of which her mother was a founding member. In 1997 she and Norman sold their home in Pecos and moved to Ennis to be near their family.

Survivors include her children, Louis Earl Eisenwine of Corpus Christ, Norma Ann Payne of Ennis, Carolyn Carson of Ft. Worth, Marilyn Eisenwine of San Angelo and James Eisenwine of Allen; 11 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

A mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at 2 p.m., at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Fred Çaldwell as celebrant.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, April 17, in the Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.

Rod Sanders

Rod Sanders, 72, of Shallowater, passed away into his Lord’s presence at his home, Sunday, afternoon, April 9, 2006.

Funeral services were held at Shallowater Baptist Church at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 12, under the direction of Joel Perez. Burial followed in Resthaven Memorial Park.

He was born March 26, 1934, in Prairie Hill, attended grade school in Marlin before graduating high school in Abernathy, in 1952. He married Wardine Reed on June 28, 1958, they lived in County Linve until moving to Shallowater, in 1979. Rod as in the farming industry for 50 years harvesting cotton and grain in the West Texas area, was an avid sports fan and became involved as a coach in little league baseball and basketball. He was also a member of the Youth Football League and Booster Club in Shallowater. He also loved antique cars and being a friend to everyone he met in life. He was a member of County Line Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Shallowater for 40 years.

Sanders was preceded in death by his parents, O.D. and Adele Sanders, brother, Davy Sanders, and nephew, little Davy Sanders. Survivors include his wife, Wardine, son, Robert of Austin, sister Betty Allen and husband Bill of Pecos, nephew, Billy Ray Allen and wife Wanda of New Braunfels, Mary Allen Caruth and husband Jim of San Antonio, niece, Kim Allen Poitevant and husband Duance of Midland, Beverly Mullins of Shallowater, Debbie Howard of Abernathy, Lisa Pena of Austin, and many great nieces and nephews living in Texas.

Ruby Lee Cummings-Atkinson passed from this life into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 27, 2006.

Ruby Lee Lambert was born June 23, 1918, in Thalia, Foard County, Texas.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, at the Crowell Cemetery in Crowell, under the direction of McCauley-Smith in Munday. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 31, at the Granite Mountain Church in Marble Falls.

She graduated from Five-in-One High School in 1936 and from beauty college in El Paso in 1943. She lived in Pecos, from 1941 until 1965 where she owned Ruby Lee’s Beauty Salon. In 1965 she moved to Dallas to care for her mother. She later moved to Austin where she was a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church of Round Rock.

Ruby Lee was preceded in death by an infant son, James William Spotts II, her husband James Williams Spotts, Jr. in 1969 and husband James Cummings in 1982, her parents, Thomas Francis Lambert and Mary Viola Tipps Lambert, and five brothers and sisters.

She is survived by husband, Rufus D. Atkinson and daughter and son-in-law Dr. Willliam Kenneth Gray and Mary Spotts Gray of Buchanan Dam, Texas. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Sabrina DeLisle of Austin, Ken Gray II of Round Rock and Diane Parnham of Austin, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren and one step-son, Fred Atkinson and step-granddaughter Annie of Seattle, Washington. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was always first to help anyone in need.

James “Ham” Newell Hamilton, 82, of Pecos, died Monday, March 27, 2006.

He was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Loraine, was a retired service station owner, a World War II Navy veteran, a longtime Pecos resident and a Baptist.

Jessie Sain, 72, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, in Tulia. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, at Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

She was born April 23, 1933, in Paducah, grew up in Ennis and attended schools there. She married Rev. James Sain on June 30, 1954, in Ennis, was a homemaker, a minister’s wife which meant she had many responsibilities that went along with her husband’s job.

She also taught Sunday school, the couple lived in different towns throughout Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. She helped with the headstart program and was president of the bandmothers when they lived in Mancos, Colo. and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Tulia.

Survivors include her husband, Rev. James Sain of Tulia; three daughters, Cindy Rea of Pecos and twins, Gayla Spencer and Shelia Bice both of Tulia; one son, Rickey Sain of Tulia; five brothers, Larry Oliver and Jack Oliver both of Ennis, Fred Oliver of Longview, Dickie Oliver of Irving, and Gene Oliver of Mesquite; three sisters, Charlene Eastman and Geraldine Witherspoon both of Ennis, Imagean Stripling of Irving; and four grandchildren.

Sam L. Carter, 90, of Monahans, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at the Monahans Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness.

He was born Dec. 21, 1915 in Comanche County, served in the Army during WWII, worked as a roughneck for A.W. Thompson and retired from Santa Fe Oil Company in 1964. He raced greyhounds for 63 years and was a lifetime member of the National Greyhound Association and the Texas Greyhound Association and a member of the Southside Baptist Church.

Carter was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Samuel and Annie Carter; his sons Clark and Dewayne Carter and one granddaughter, Sharla Carter.

He was born March 23, 1915, in Redford, was a retired equipment operator, a longtime Pecos resident and a Catholic. He did general labor in his early life in the Kermit and Barstow area, was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp in the late 1930’s, worked independently as a yardman and was a Lion Club member for many years (Amistad Lions). He drove the street sweeper for the Town of Pecos City street department for nearly 40 years.

Annis Medlin Hollis, 93, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, in Hobbs, N.M.

She was born Jan. 9, 1913, to Hall and Bessie (Jones) Medlin in Stanton, was raised on her family ranch in Ocha, N.M., married William E. Hollis in 1935 and moved to Pecos in 1952 where they owned and operated the International Harvester dealership for 23 years before retiring.

Hollis is preceded in death by her husband, William E. Hollis; one son, Tommy Hollis; two brothers, J.H. Medlin, Elbert Medlin and two sisters, Ruth Marion and Beulah Baird.

Survivors include one daughter, Jeanene Hall of Socorro, N.M.; one sister, Ora Mae Davis of Kermit; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Miguel Martinez

Miguel Nieto Martinez, 88, of Pecos, died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

He was born May 8, 1917, in Sheffield and was a longtime Pecos resident.

Walter Paschal Jr.

Walter Byron “Red” Paschal, Jr., born Oct. 10, 1926, in Meadow, Tx., son of Walter B. Sr. and Mamie Day Paschal, died at the Pecos Nursing Home on Feb. 23, 2006.

A memorial service was held at the Pecos Funeral Home, on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006, at 3 p.m.

Red Paschal was a rancher and cowboy preacher. He was saved at a revival at the age of 14. At the age of 16, he left school to work on the ranches and rodeos along the Texas and New Mexico border.

Red married Jackie Colleen Carr, Feb. 4, 1945, shortly before entering military service. He traveled with the Army to Japan as part of the mainland occupation forces. Following an honorable discharge at Fort Sam Houston, in September 1946, Red returned to the ranches and rodeoing.

He worked on ranches across Loving, Reeves, Presidio, Jeff Davis, and Culberson counties in Texas. After a brief stint with the U.S. Border Patrol, in Laredo, Reds ranch work took his family to Colorado Springs, Colo. from 1957-1961. In 1965, Red became self-employed breaking, shoeing, and training horses. It was at that time that his work with Christian ministry began to increase with his ordination as a deacon at North Temple Baptist Church. In 1966, he was licensed to preach, and he attended the Spanish language Mexican Bible Institute, at San Antonio, in 1968.

Red’s work as a horse trainer took him as far away as Nebraska for competitions, and he traveled to Ithaca, New York to train Polo horses. In 1971, Red returned to the rimrocks country to work for the Gulf Coast Real Estate Co., at the 96 Ranch. After 14 years, he bought a home and land in the Lobo Valley, and he concentrated on tending his own herd of cattle.

Red was ordained as a minister and served as the pastor for Primera Iglesia Bautista, in Van Horn, for 10 years. In his retirement, Red returned to Pecos to live nearer to his children.

Red Paschal was preceded in death by his son Douglas “Bud” Paschal of Hinesville, Ark.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Colleen Paschal of Pecos; his son, Byron Wayne “Shot” and Kathy Paschal of Pecos; his daughter, Margaret and her husband, Phillip Ryan of Midland; his daughter, Patricia and her husband, Jerry Figures of Georgetown; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his sisters, Edna Springer of Arlington and Annie Ruth Camp of Brownfield and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a favorite charity, the West of the Pecos Museum or Primera Iglesia Bautista at Van Horn.

Catalina Garcia

Catalina Garcia, 87, of Pecos, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Reeves County Hospital.

Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with burial at Santa Rosa Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 6, 1919, in El Paso, was a homemaker, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Garcia was preceded in death by both parents, Albino Ortega and Maria R. Ortega.

Luis Muniz

Luis T. Muniz, 77, of Saragosa, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at Hospice House in Odessa.

He was born Aug. 25, 1928, in Candelaria, was a lifetime Saragosa resident, retired and a Catholic.

Muniz was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Eduvijes Muniz; one brother, Ricardo Muniz and one sister, Ester Mendoza.

Survivors include his wife, Isabel M. Mary Ruth Lindley Boyd

Mary Ruth Lindley Boyd, 99, passed away peacefully in Little Rock, Arkansason the 10th of February following a brief illness. She was one of eight children born to a pioneer East Texas retail and farm family, and lived most of her adult life in El Paso, Texas. She was one of nine children born to Mrs. and Mrs. Jacob Marion Lindley of Sulphur Springs, Texas. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Charles W. Boyd, a retired El Paso banker from a prominent banking and cotton farming family in Pecos and Balmorhea, Texas. Mary Boyd is survived by her son, Dr. Charles Marion Boyd, his wife Anne Ponder Boyd, his former wife Anne Townsend Boyd, two grandsons: David C. Boyd of Little Rock, Michael M. Boyd with his wife Melanie and great-grandchildren, Colin and Lane of Maumelle; and granddaughter Allison Boyd of Denver, Colorado and her daughter Ellie Boyd. In addition she is survived by nephews John Lindley of Dallas, Donald Lindley of Red Oak, Texas, John Orndorff of San Diego, California, and Billy Dan Lindley of Sulphur Springs, Texas; and niece Mary Ann Anglin, of Sulphur Springs, Texas.

Mary Boyd was an active member of the Second Presbyterian Church in El Paso, Texas. She was very well liked by all. She was an energetic homemaker and civic volunteer in El Paso for fifty years before moving to Little Rock to be near her son and his family. She loved her family, and especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren. She took up ballroom dancing at the age of 88 and began winning Arthur Murray dance contests nationwide with her dance partners.

Leland Casey

Leland H. Casey, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, Feb. 13, in First United Methodist Church, Commerce with Rev. Lisa Greenwood Walcott officiating and burial in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 15, 1919, in Emblem was a member of First United Methodist Church, Dough Rollins Sunday School Class, the American Legion, 320th Bomb Group from World War II and the Texas Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Casey of Commerce; one daughter, Judy Christensen of Midland; one sister, Bonnie Osborne of Houston; five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Travis Lattner

W. Travis Lattner, Jr., 84, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Home Hospice in Odessa.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the First Baptist Church.

He was born on Nov. 13, 1921, to William Travis and Edith Lattner in the family farmhouse in Pleasant Grove. Travis graduated from Thornton High School in 1938, and North Texas State Teachers College in Denton, in 1942 with a major in government. After graduation he joined the Navy Air Corps where he received his pilot training. He then transferred to Marine Air Corp and served in the Pacific during World War II in the VMB 433 Squadron. As a Captain he flew the PBJ, also known as the B-25. He completed his tour of duty overseas in 1945. He completed his military service in March of 1946 and soon after moved to West Texas to begin a life-long career in cotton farming and ranching. He first settled on the Santa Rosa Ranch near Grandfalls, where he and Barbara started their family with daughters, Linda and Carole. The family then moved to Pecos in January 1947. Son Bill was born later in 1958.

Barbara passed away in 1963. Travis later married Bobbie Chesney in 1966 and the Lattner clan grew again with the addition of Teri and Tip Chesney. Travis and Bobbie recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary together. In semi-retirement, Travis spent many hours researching (with help from other family members) and writing the Lattner family history. In 2002, he published “The Lattner Story” spanning six generations. Travis enjoyed cooking and was famous for his barbequed ribs. He was an avid sports fan and faithfully followed the Dallas Cowboys. He loved a good joke. Travis expressed his feelings best in his book as follows. “I consider myself indeed fortunate to be in good health and to have many good friends.

We are also fortunate that our five children are happy, in good health and are all doing well in their present jobs and occupations. All six grandchildren are doing fine, staying busy as bees and seem to think and care a lot about Grammy and PaPa. I like to think this is as good as it gets.”

Lattner was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Christelle Mills; one brother, Sam Lattner and his first wife, Barbara Parton.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Lattner; his children, Bill Lattner and wife, Wendy; Carole Steinmetz, Linda Myers, Teri Moore and husband, Hardin and Tip Chesney; his grandchildren, Travis Lattner, Jon Steinmetz, Caron Steinmetz, Shannon Glenn, Allison Moore and Ross Moore; his niece Betty Wheatley and husband, Mike.

Ruby Fay Newton

Ruby Fay Newton, 89, of Pecos, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006.

She was born Nov. 24, 1916, to C.W. and Ruby Hawk in Nimrod. She later married Malcolm Newton before moving to the Pecos-Toyah area where she taught school for 40 years and was a lifelong Baptist.

Newton was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Newton; one son, Jimmy Bryant and seven brothers and sisters.

Pat Rushing, 78, of Andrews died Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at Alliance Hospital in Odessa.

He was born Aug. 14, 1927 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Robert E. Rushing and Sadie Sanders Rushing, studied engineering at the University of Texas in Austin, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, moved to Andrews in 1951 from Monahans, worked for Exxon from 1952-1985, was a past member of the National Rifle Association and was a member of the Exxon Annuitant Club in Andrews and a full faith Christian. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Joan Hamilton

Joan Hamilton, 71, of Chester, Okla., died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, in the Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview, Okla.

She was born March 7, 1934, in Graham, to John Roy and Alma (McCalister) Vick, was raised in Fort Stockton, graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1952, moved to Odessa until 1959, when she then moved to Santa Cruz, Calif. She raised and showed Welsh Ponies and Pony’s of America (P.O.A). and received many awards and trophies. She was the owner of Teredaine Kennels where she raised and bred champion Shetland Sheep Dogs. She and her husband, Neil Hamilton retied in 1983 and moved to Pecos, where they lived until Neil passed away in 1989. In 1999, Joan moved to Midland, to care for her mother. Her mother passed away in 2004 and in March of 2005 she moved to Chester with her niece. She was an active member and Sunday school teacher of the Calvary Baptist Church in Pecos, after moving to Fairview she transferred her membership to the Orion Baptist Church in Orion, Okla.

Survivors include one daughter, Kay Kleck of Odessa; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one niece; two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

She was born Feb. 11, 1961, in Pecos.

She was preceded in death by her mother Guadalupe Roman and brother Manuel Roman Jr.

She was born Aug. 2, 1933, in Ojinaga, Mexico and was a housewife.

Pina was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Navarrette and Ydelfonsa Perez.

Survivors include three sons, Raul Pina of Presidio, Hector Pina of Odessa, Ramon Pina of El Paso; two daughters, Isela Lujan of Pecos, Manuela Pina of Odessa; five sisters, Maria Del Refugio Davila, Epimenia Patino, Pilar Gomez, Cruz Navarrette, Maria Gutierrez; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Helen Harrison

Helen Frances Harrison, 81, a long time resident of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 15, at Pecos Funeral Home with Brother L.H. Woodard officiating.

She was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Rose, Okla, to Woodson and Evelyn Knott. She was a wife, homemaker, mother, grandmother and “the great” grandmother. She was retired from H&H Production Service Company, the family owned business they began in 1971.

Harrison was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Harrison; one brother, G.J. Knott and her parents, Woodson and Evelyn Knott.

Survivors include her five children: Jack Davis of Kerrville, Jimmie Kemp and husband, Ben of Andrews, Roger Harrison and wife Angela of Pecos, Jerry Harrison and wife Grace of Wink and Glen Harrison and wife Karen of Sweetwater; nine grandchildren, Jason Davis and wife Brooke, Leelyn Bishop, Brandi and Kaci Harrison, Jacob and Jeremy Harrison, and Kristen, Tatum and Kaitlen Harrison; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kendall and Jackson Harrison Davis; one brother, Wayne Knott; two sisters, Agnes Purdue and Gwen Talley.

Billie Clarkston

Billie Ruth Clarkston, 79, of Lampasas, died on Jan. 10, 2006 at Scott and White Hospital in Temple.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 14, at Briggs Gamel Wilcox Funeral Chapel in Lampasas with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Brownwood, graduated with a B.A. from Howard Payne University, went on to teach reading, English and Spanish at the Junior High level in Lampasas, Balmorhea, Robstown, Riesel and Fort Hood; her teaching career spanned three decades before she retired, was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lampasas, where she was very involved in her church as a youth choir director and member of the choir; was a member of the TEA and the TSTA.

Clarkston was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. “Bob” Clarkston; one son, John Edward Rutledge and one granddaughter, Regina Tucker Perryman.

Survivors include four sons, Howard Glenn Rutledge, Jr. of Lampasas, Victor R. Rutledge of Antioch, Tenn., Robert E. Clarkston of Stafford, R.L. “Bucky” Clarktson of Lampasas; four daughters, Anita Rutledge of Verhalen, Barbara Clarkston of Kempner, Lynda Clarkston Reavis of Philadelphia, Ann Clarkson of Lampasas; 24 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ona May Graef

Ona May Graef, 93, of Fort Stockton, died Jan. 8, 2006, in Fort Stockton.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ernie Vinyard officiating.

Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery in Alpine.

She was born Jan. 27, 1912, in Scurry County, was a ranch owner and operator, had lived in Balmorhea since 1961, had been a longtime member of the West of the Pecos Cattlewomen Association, Bridge Player and Well Kept Community Club.

Graef was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Graef in March 1962.

Survivors include two nieces, Leona Trowbridge of Balmorhea and Linda Darlene Steward of San Angelo.

Benito Hignojos Jr.

Benito Hignojos Jr., 46, of Lubbock, died Jan. 9, 2006, in Lubbock.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 13, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church.

Hignojos was preceded in death by two brothers, Jose and Hipolito Hignojos and his father, Benito Hignojos Sr.

He was born Sept. 12, 1959, in Pecos and was a Catholic.

Survivors include his mother, Carmen Hignojos; four brothers, Luis Hignojos of Lubbock, Geronimo Hignojos of Pecos, Ismael Hignojos of Ft. Stockton, Ezequiel Hignojos of Barstow and one sister, Lydia Garcia of Barstow.

Carlos Lopez

Carlos Lopez, 39, died Jan. 11, 2006, in El Paso.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time under the direction of Crestview Funeral Home of El Paso.

Lopez was born Jan. 23, 1967, in Midland, had lived in Pecos for a number of years, graduated from Pecos High School and was employed with J Edwards Jewelry in El Paso.

Survivors include his wife, Laura M. Lopez of El Paso; two sons, Robert and Angel Lopez of El Paso; his parents, Edmundo Lopez Sr. and Rosario Lopez of Pecos; one sister, Corina Navarrete of Midland; three brothers, Edmundo Lopez Jr., Francisco Lopez of Alpine, Humberto Lopez of Northern Richland Hills and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack Osborn

Jack Richard Osborn, 65, of Toyah, died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at his home in Toyah.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, in Toyah with Raymond and Karen Hornberger officiating.

He was born July 8, 1940, in Pecos, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a truck driver, fence builder and windmill man.

Osborn was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Leta; three sisters, Billie Faye, Ilene and Irene and six brothers, Roy Lee, Tom, John, Joe, Jim and Charlie.

Survivors include his wife, Suzanne Osborn of Toyah; sons, Jack Jr. and Damien of Pecos; Amanda of Waco; Darren and Julie Guthrie of Enid, Okla.; two brothers, Dan Osborn of Huntsville and Jay Walker of Azle; 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends.

Priscilla D. Duran

Services: Priscilla “Cilla” D. Duran, 23, of West Church Street, Carlsbad, N.M., passed away Jan. 1, 2006 at Carlsbad Medical Center.

A vigil was held Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, 7:00 p.m., at Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel with Nathan Knight officiating.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, at Oasis Christian Fellowship with Pastor Gabriel Rubio officiating.

Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

“Cilla” Priscilla D. Duran was born August 8, 1982 in Monahans, Texas to Danny and Priscilla Villaloboz Villescas. She started school in Pecos, then moved to Carlsbad in 1992 and graduated from Carlsbad High School in 2000. While attending school in Carlsbad, Cilla was active in band, color guard and girl’s track. Cilla also loved to dance and was a 10 year student at the Harding Webster School of Dance. Cilla married Daniel Duran on August 12, 2000 in Las Cruces, NM. They moved to Odessa where she attended American Commercial College to learn medical transcription. Cilla and her family moved back to Carlsbad in 2004 where she went to work at Carlsbad Medical Center in the business office. Cilla was an active member of Oasis Christian Fellowship and enjoyed participating in their drama productions. Cilla loved her family and especially enjoyed family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her brother Daniel Villescas, Jr. and grandparents Ben Villaloboz and Betty Marquez.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Duran of Carlsbad, N.M.; two daughters, Diamond Delani and Danielle Crystal of Carlsbad, N.M.; her parents, Danny and Priscilla Villescas of Carlsbad, N.M.; one brother, Luis Villescas of Odessa; three sisters, Karen Jaquez and husband Robert of Carlsbad, N.M., D'Andra Olguin of Carlsbad, N.M., Breanne Villescas of Carlsbad, N.M.; her grandparents, Roddy and Betty Villescas Sr. of Pecos, her parents-in-law: Larry and Sylvia Granger of Carlsbad, N.M.; her brothers- In -Law: Joshua Hernandez and wife Michelle of Ft.
