ODESSA, Dec. 30, 1996 - The Lady Eagles defeated the Odessa High Junior
Varsity team during Friday's consolation semi-final, while the boys
varsity lost to McCamey for the third place standing.

The Lady Bronchos JV scored 34 points during their stance against the
Lady Eagles, who scored 69 in the Hi-Noon Shootout at Odessa College in
Odessa, with Stacy Anthony bringing in the most points for the Bronchos
for a total of 12.

Pecos' Veronica Carrasco netted a totalof 15 points for the Pecos
varsity, girls basketball team.

The Lady Eagles went up against Lamesa Saturday afternoon to the
consolation, but were defeated by nine points. The final score was 59
for the Eagles and 68 for the Tornadoes.

Penny Armstrong brought in a total of 15 points for her team. Trailing
right behind her was Lorie Marquez, who scored a total of 14 points for
the Lady Eagles and Ivy Thorp with 12 points scored.

This came after Pecos lost to the Permian Panthers, 73-30, in the
tournament's first round, in which they played with only two of their
regular starters. Lori Marquez scored the most points at this game,
bringing in a total of 12.

Making the All-Tournament team was Pecos' Lorie Marquez.

The Boys Varsity Basketball Team lost to McCamey by 14 points for a
third place standing, with a final score of 70-65, Saturday.

Four players netted scores in the double digits: Omar Hinojos, 15; Eric
Abila, 14; J. Abila 10 and Fabien Adame 11.

Making the All-Tournament team was Pecos' Omar Hinojos.
