Ely honored for service

Priscilla Tercero Ely, a claims representative, with the
Odessa Social Security Office was recently honored in Dallas
where she was awarded the Regional Commissioner's Citation
for her outreach efforts to the Hispanic community in the
Odessa service area.

She is the daughter of Jose and Connie Tercero of Pecos.

Area students named to list

Three Pecos area students attending Angelo State University
in San Angelo, are listed on the Dean's List for the Fall
semester at the university.

Those listed include Robert Ortega, a Government major from
Barstow, Moses Darpolor, a Chemistry major, and Jonnie Renae
Denton, a Communication major all from Pecos.

To be eligible for the Dean's list, a student must be
enrolled as a full time students and have at least a 3.25
grade point average.

OC again offers weekend college

People interested in attending college classes on weekends
may register for Session B of Odessa College's Weekend
College from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27 through
Thursday, Jan. 29.

New students - thsoe who have never attended college or have
attended a college other than OC - must first go to the
admissions office in the Student Union Building, Room 107,
to be admitted before they can register. They should bring
an official transcript of the schools previously attended.

Classes for Weekend College Session B will meet 8 a.m.-noon
and 1-4 p.m. on the following Saturdays: Jan. 31, Feb. 14
and 28, March 21, April 4 and 25 and May 9.

In Weekend College, courses parallel those offered in the
regular term except that they are compressed into a shorter
time span. Full academic recognition is given these courses,
and the time spent and the credit earned is equivalent to
that of a regular session.

Classes offered in Session B are: Introduction to Computer
Systems, American National Government, Certified Legal
Assistant Review, First and Introduction to Psychology.

All students must provide documentation of Texas residency
for the 12 months prior to enrollment to avoid paying the
non-resident tuition rate.
