Florez busting his way to
regional finals in November

One Pecos youngster is already on his way to becoming a rodeo performer.

Jeremy Florez, the 6-year-old son of Danny and Isabel Florez, of Pecos,
is a member of the Junior Bullriding Association, in which he represents

Jeremy is in the mutton busting division trying to qualify for the
regional finals later in November at Fort Stockton with two more rodeos to go.

Zamarrippa nets award at STSU

Sandra Zamarrippa, a sophomore student at Southwest Texas State
University, in San Marcos, has been selected for an LBJ Achievement

As a recipient of this award, she will receive $2,000 for the 1997-98
academic school year.

The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs Scholarship Committee bases
its selection on student's scholastic record, honors, and leadership
potential. The scholarship pool was especially competitive this year.

Miss Zamarrippa is the daughter of Felipa and Carlos Zamarripa of Pecos.
