Ivy Thorp is the 17-year-old daughter of Dennis and Randa Thorp of Pecos.

She is sponsored by the Twentieth Century Club.

She is active in the National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and Who's Who
among High School students.

Ivy is a two-year letterman in volleyball as well as a four year
letterman in basketball.

She attends First United Methodist Church and she works part-time with
her mom and dad in the family business.

Ivy's other interests include art, photography and swimming. She enjoys
helping people, working with children and spending time with family and
friends. She plans to attend Texas Tech University after graduating and
play volleyball while pursuing an education and career as a pediatrician where she will be able to continue her work with children.

Haws to head state fitting contest

Will Haws of Pecos has been chosen by the Texas Junior Hereford
Association to head the State Team Fitting Contest at Llano, June 26-29.

Haws will share this honor with Jason and Justin Barber of Channing.

Contestants from all over the state are expected to fit their steers in
twenty minutes. Each team consists of one senior, one junor, and one
prospector. The steers are then judged based on fitting techniques,
final results and team cooperation.

T.J.H.A. Summer Field Day and Junior Heifer and Steer Show is held
annually in a different area of Texas.

He is the son of Dale and Marti Haws of Pecos. Jason and Justin Barber are the twin sons of Dale and Mary Barber.

Thorps announce birth of son

Kenny and Gabi Thorp announce the birth of their son, Austin Dean.

Little Austin was born on Tuesday, June 17 at Pecos County Memorial
Hospital in Fort Stockton.

He weighed seven pounds, 6½ ounces and was 20¼ inches long.

Grandparents are Richard and Joann Thorp of Pecos and Paulino Avila of
Fort Stockton.
