Juana Bejaran

Juana Bejaran, 85, of Pecos, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at Reeves County Hospital.

Services were held at 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Saragosa Cemetery.

She was born June 24, 1918, in Moncio Via Herrera, Chih., Mexico, was a homemaker and a Seven Day Adventist.

Survivors include three sons, Benny Bejaran of Bridgeport, Geno Bejaran of Pecos, Mete Bejaran of Balmorhea; six daughters, Josie Madrid of Odessa, Amalia Bejaran of Pecos, Belia Rodriguez of Saragosa, Paula Alvedriez and Lidia Alvedriez of Seminole, Simona Rocha of Carlsbad, N.M. and 16 grandchildren.

Catherine Carpenter

Catherine Carpenter, 54, of Big Spring, formerly of Pecos, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at her home, following a 24 year battle with diabetes.

Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday at Mt. Olive Memorial Park, with Rev. Matthew Miles and Rev. Flynn Long, officiating.

She was born Sept. 18, 1949 in Sinton, Texas, moved to Pecos when she was one year old, graduated from Pecos High School with numerous honors including Salutatorian, Best All Around and Band Sweetheart, received a B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Texas and an M. A. from Queen Mary's College, University of London. She worked in the British Isles for 22 years in London and Wales, was on the staff of Private Eye magazines, edited books for Picadilly Press, and numerous other publishing houses, wrote an English Garden Dictionary and a Guide to London, taught extension classes for the University of Maryland in Wales, returning to the states in 1991, she worked for Meteor Publications in Philadelphia, Romance Writers Publishers in Houston and Presbyterian Publications in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a member of National Press Women and the Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her mother: Marj Carpenter of Big Spring; one sister, Carolyn Stewart of Winnsboro, Texas; one brother, Jim Bob Carpenter of Sarasota, Florida; two nephews and one niece.

She was preceded in death by her father in 1965.

Claude Parsons

Claude Lee "Shorty" Parsons, 62, of Burnet, formerly of Pecos, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004.

There will be no formal service for Shorty.

He was born June 23, 1941, in Pecos, worked in the oil fields, did mechanical and welding work. In Pecos, he helped clean up and salvage the old burned down Gibson's Building and the Brandon Hotel.

Parsons was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Marilea Bowles Parsons and one sister, Jeanne Carol.

Survivors include three daughters, Sue Ann Robles of Burnet, Linda Johnson of Waxahachie, Carole Key of San Angelo; one brother, William "Bill" Parsons of Midland; two sisters, Marilyn Johnson of Pecos, Mary Jane Mahaffey of Katy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations in his memory my be made to your local hospice or to the charity of your choice.

Rebecca Ortiz

Rebecca "Becky" Ortiz, 50, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, in Pecos.

Church service will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 20, at the First Baptist Church, 8th and Sycamore. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born March 3, 1953, in Pecos, was housewife, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Jose Angel Vasquez of Pecos; four sons, Felix Ornelas, Jr., Stevie Ornelas, Jesse Ornelas and Paul Diaz of Pecos; two daughters, Grace Ortega and Gina Ortiz Galindo of Pecos; two brothers, Gilbert Ortiz of Coleman, Manuel Ortiz of Pecos; three sisters, Rachel Natividad of Pecos, Linda Garcia of Toyah, Sylvia Ortiz of California and nine grandchildren.

Casimiro Banuelos

Casimiro P. Banuelos, 80, of El Paso, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, in El Paso.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., today at Hillcrest Chapel in El Paso.

A mass is scheduled for 12:45 p.m., Thursday, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with burial in Ft. Bliss National Cemetery in El Paso.

Survivors include his wife, Olivia S. Banuelos; one son, Humberto Ceballos; two daughters, Elsa Medina and Zoila Tellez; two brothers, Israel Banuelos and Santiago Banuelos.

Christine Rutledge

Christine Rutledge, 76, of The Woodlands, formerly of Lampasas and Balmorhea, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004, in a Houston hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, at Briggs-Gamel Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Rock Church Cemetery near Rumley.

She was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Alpine, to Francisco and Paula Cano Silvas, was a homemaker, retired from nursing with Girling Home Health in Marble Falls, was a Baptists attended the Sawdust Road Baptist Church in Spring.

Rutledge was preceded in death by one brother, Celedonio Cano and one granddaughter, Regina Tucker Perryman.

She was married to Howard Rutledge and he died Jan. 13, 2004.

Survivors include four sons, Carl Owen Rutledge of The Woodlands, Israel Ortega of Odessa, Andy Ortega of The Woodland, Ephriam Ortega of Huntsville; three daughters, Creedina Silvas of Temple, Birdie Nino of Odessa, Naomi Ortega of Fredricksburg; two step-sons, Howard Glenn Rutledge, Jr. of Lampasas, Victor Ray Rutledge of Nashville, TN; one step-daughter, Anita Rutledge Moody of Pecos; three brothers, Alfredo Silvas and Placido Cano, Jr. of Odessa, David Silvas of San Angelo; five sisters, Lucia Nunez of Andrews, Ofelia Martinez of Odessa, Modesta Magallanez of El Paso, Maria Cano of Temple, Lydia Oyerbides of Monahans; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Howard Rutledge

Howard Rutledge, 80, of The Woodlands, formerly of Lampasas and Balmorhea, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004, at his residence.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, at Briggs-Gamel Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Rock Church Cemetery near Rumley.

He was born Nov. 4, 1923, in San Angelo, to Theodore Cullen and Addie Marlar Rutledge, after serving his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he received his Master's Degree from A&I University in Kingsville, which is now A&M University, was a retired educator and principal, was an Ordained Baptist Minister, a minister at the Baptist Church in Moline, for several years, attended School Creek Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church, while in Lampasas and the Sawdust Road Baptist Church in Spring.

Rutledge was married to Christine Silvas Ortega and she died Jan. 12, 2004. He was preceded in death by one son, John Edward Rutledge and one granddaughter, Regina Tucker Perryman.

Survivors include three sons, Howard Glenn Rutledge, Jr. of Lampasas, Victor Ray Rutledge of Nashville, Tenn., Carl Owen Rutledge of The Woodlands; one daughter, Anita Rutledge Moody of Pecos; three step-sons, Israel Ortega of Odessa, Andy Ortega of The Woodlands, Ephriam Ortega of Huntsville; three step-daughters, Creedina Silvas of Temple, Birdie Nino of Odessa, Naomi Ortega of Fredricksburg; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Felipe Ornelas, Jr.

Felipe Ornelas Jr., 20, died on Jan. 9 in Midland. Ornelas was born on June 26, 1983 in Dalhart, and was employed in Midland as a concrete construction worker and was a devout Catholic.

Services will be held at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, on Jan. 13 at 2:00 p.m. Father Gustavo Lopez will be officiating, with burial following at the Greenwood Cemetery. Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Jan 12. at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene Ornelas and his son, Isaac Ornelas both of Midland; his mother, Silvia Aguilar of Pecos; brothers: Daniel Aguilar of Pecos and Candelario Ornelas of Presidio; Sisters: Brenda Ornelas and Jamie Ornelas both of Presidio; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Ruben Guebara Pando, Jr.

Ruben Guebara Pando Jr., 28, died on Jan. 9 in Midland. Pando was born on Feb. 5, 1975 in Pecos, and was a long time resident of Monahans, where he worked on a seismograph crew, and was a devout Catholic.

Services are to be held on Jan. 12, at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Gustavo Lopez officiating, and burial following at the Greenwood Cemetery. Rosary was held on Jan. 11 at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home.

Pando is survived by his beloved companion, Tanya Valdez of Monahans; one son, Ruben Pando III of Monahans; his parents, Lelia and Alvaro Alvarez of Monahans and Ruben Pando Sr. of Ojinaga, Mex.; his grandfather Guillermo Guebara of Pecos; his brother Jason Alvarez of Odessa; and his sisters: Heather Guebara and Stacy Underwood both of Gilbert, AZ.

Arturo Sanchez Valeriano

Arturo Sanchez Valeriano, 63, died on Jan. 9 here in Pecos.

Valeriano was born on March 7, 1940 in San Antonio Del Bravo, Chihuahua, Mex., was a lifetime resident of Pecos and was self-employed as a dump truck operator.

Services are to be held on Jan. 12, at 10:00 a.m. in the Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Gustavo Lopez officiating, and burial following at the Greenwood Cemetery. Rosary was held on Jan. 11 at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home.

Valeriano is preceded in death by his parents Casimiro and Manuela Valeriano; he is survived by his wife, Maria B. Valeriano; his sons: Jose Arturo B. Valeriano of Grand Prairie, Efrain B. Valeriano of Irving, Saul B. Valeriano and Artemio B. Valeriano of Pecos, and Humberto B. Valeriano of Alamogordo, NM; his brothers: Hector Valeriano, Gregorio Valeriano and Pedro Valeriano of Pecos, and Jesus S. Valeriano of Houston; his sisters: Rosa Cordova, Alicia Magana and Guadalupe Michaelis of Pecos and Yolanda Chavarria of Odessa; and 18 grand children.

Eulalia Natividad

Eulalia H. Natividad, 86, of Odessa, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at her residence.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 11, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 12, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Rev. Trini Fuentes officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery.

She was born Nov. 24, 1917, in Ruidosa, Tx., was a homemaker and a Christian Catholic.

Natividad was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolfo B. Natividad and two sons, Elias and Raul Natividad.

Survivors include four sons, Severo H. Natividad of Mesa, Ariz., Zack H., Salvador H. and Robert H. Natividad of Odessa; six daughters, Ramona Granado of Pecos, Ruperta Barrera, Juana Guzman, Tonia Gonzales, Rachel Nichols, Gloria H. Natividad, all of Odessa; 44 grandchildren; 130 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great grandchildren.

Senona N. Villa, 97, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004, at the Pecos Nursing Home.

She was born June 23, 1906, in San Juan, Mexico, was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Survivors include one son, Augustin Villa of Pecos; one daughter, Antonia Herrera of Pecos; three grandchildren, Olivia Herrera, Elena Herrera, Lupe Herrera, Jr., all of Pecos; and two great-grandchildren.

Eliacer Cordova

Eliacer Cordova, 57, of Pecos, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born July 30, 1946, in San Carlos, Mexico, was a retired warehouse supervisor, a lifetime Pecos resident and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife Rosa Valeriano Cordova of Pecos; three sons, Victor Cordova of Irving, Eliacer Cordova, Jr. of Midlothian, Efren Cordova of Pecos; three daughters, Elizabeth Montoya of Odessa, Norma Cordova of Rowlett, Belia Muela of Nevada, Tx.; five brothers, Hector, Manuel, Jose, Mario and Carlos Cordova, all of Porterville, Calif.; eight sisters, Mercedes, Maribel, Maria Cordova, Alicia Fajardo, Gloria Zepeda, Elisa Raya, all of Porterville, Calif., Susana and Rosa Cordova of Terrebella, Calif. and 20 grandchildren.

Joe Gallego Jr., 78, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Mass will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Saragosa, with Father Gustavo Lopez officiating. Burial will be in Saragosa Cemtery.

He was born July 19, 1925, in Alpine and was a Catholic.

Gallego was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Gallego Sr.and Lupe Gallego and his wife, Amparo Molinar Gallego.

Survivors include his friend, Rosalie Dominguez of Balmorhea; three daughters, Nora Briceno of Pecos, Linda Briceno of Saragosa, Alexa Gallego of San Angelo; seven sons, Joe Gallego of Anaheim, Calif., Billy Joe, Fred and Allen Gallego of Pecos, Jimmy Gallego of Saragosa, Tony Gallego of Presidio, Sammy Joe Gallego of San Angelo; one brother, Julian Gallego of Odessa; one sister, Maria Hinojos of Alpine; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Helen Richards, 79, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at the First Christian Church with Ernie Wagner officiating.

She was born Oct. 23, 1924, in Haskell Co. Okla., was a retired secretary and a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include one daughter, LuAnn Thompson of Fort Stockton; one sister, Edith Terry of Boisie, Idaho; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nephews and nieces.

Earl Moore

Earl Moore, 85, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at the Robert Lee Nursing Center.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004, at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery with Monroe Moore and Wally Moon officiating.

He was born Dec. 20, 1917, in Pecos, was a lifelong Pecos resident, a retired driver and a Methodist.

Survivors include one son, Monroe Moore of Robert Lee; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

Angel Fuentes

Angel Fuentes, a baby, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2003, at Reeves County Hospital.

He was born Tuesday, Dec. 30 and was a Catholic.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Babyland in Greenwood Cemetery.

Survivors include his mother, Amanda Fuentes of Pecos; his father, Roland Baca; grandparents, Severo and Francisca Fuentes of Pecos and Lupe Baca of Pecos.

Jesus Adame

Jesus E. Adame, 87, a laborer, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, in Odessa.

Services were held at 2 p.m., today, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rosario Hill officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

He was born Aug. 25, 1916, in Manuel Benavides, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Survivors include two sons, Manuel R. and Efrain R. Adame of Pecos; three daughters, Ernestina A. Bustillos of Odessa, Augustina A. Herrera of Mexico, Consuelo A. Gonzalez of Mexico; two sisters, Maria A. Estrada of Odessa, Guadalupe A. Jasso of Odessa; 21 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

Hipolito Vasquez

Hipolito Vasquez Jr., 48, of Pecos, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003, in Rusk.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Ben Flores officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 27, 1954, in Pecos, had lived in Pecos most of his life, was a roughneck and a Catholic.

Vasquez was preceded in death by his father, Hipolito Vasquez Sr. and his brother, Hector Vasquez.

Survivors include his mother, Bertha V. Marin of Odessa; one brother, Gilbert Vasquez of Midland; three sisters, Luz Rodriguez of Irving, Anna Navarrette of The Colony, Terry Vasquez of Midland and numerous nephews and nieces.

A rosary for Jose L. "Cubano" Beltran, 55, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today at the Peaceful Gardens Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Peaceful Gardens Funeral Home.

Beltran was born on Sept. 18, 1948 in Matansia, Cuba. He died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in the Pecos County Memorial Hospital in Fort Stockton. He was a retired dishwasher, a longtime resident of Pecos and a Catholic.

Survivors include his wife, Margarita Beltran of Pecos; two sons, Jose Luis Beltran and Arturo Beltran of Pecos; two daughters, Kimberly Beltran of Pecos and Betty Beltran of Miami, Fla.; one brother, Chino Beltran of Matansia, Cuba; one sister, Elvira Beltran of Matansia, Cuba, and two grandchildren.

Maria Hernandez

Maria Hernandez, 97, of Monahans, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at Reeves County Hospital.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Monahans with Father John Lucido officiating. Burial will be in Monahans Cemetery.

She was born April 21, 1906, in Shafter, was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Hernandez was preceded in death by her husband, Gregorio Hernandez and one son, Manuel C. Hernandez.

Survivors include two sons, Julian C. Hernandez of Monahans, Tony C. Hernandez of Pecos; two daughters, Amelia Moralez of Andrews, Maria De Jesus Madrid of Monahans; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

W.E. Lindsey

W.E. "Bill" Lindsey, 93, of Brownfield, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2003, in Brownfield.

Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 31, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. J.L. Bass and Rev. Steve Carter officiating. Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery in Brownfield.

He was born Dec. 31, 1909, in Booneville, Ms., moved to Terry County in 1940, farmed until 1944, worked for Goodpasture until retiring in 1973 and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Lindsey was preceded in death by his wife, Jonnie Ruth McDonald; two sons, Billy and Larry and one grandson, Dennis Rasberry.

Survivors include one son, Sherill B. Lindsey of Brownfield; three daughters, Myrna Bolding of Monahans, Sharon Willis of Plains, Ruth Rasberry of Pecos; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great- grandchildren and great-great-great grandchildren.

A rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28, at the Peaceful Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.

Mendoza was born on July 8, 1964 in Portales, N.M. She died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, in Pecos. She was a homemaker, a lifetime resident of Pecos and a Catholic.

Survivors include three children, Mickey Gabaldon and Katie Gabaldon of Pecos and Carlos Mendoza of Norton; two brothers, Alonzo Mendoza of Pecos and Amador Mendoza, Jr., of Odessa; and five sisters, Sally Hernandez of Morten and Patsy Mendoza, Jeannie Wright, Maria Guadalupe Mendoza and Senada Mendoza, all of Pecos.

Alvina Hinojos Flores

Alvina Hinojos Flores, 70, died on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, in Fort Stockton. Services are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Iglesia Apostolica in Fort Stockton with Pastor Juan Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at the East Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.

Flores was born on March 1, 1933 in La Cecion De Vado De Piedra, Mexico. She was married to Federico Sanchez Flores on Oct. 18, 1952 in San Juan, Mexico.

She was proceeded in death by one sister, Carlota Lopez.

Flores is survived by her husband, Federico Sanchez Flores; six sons, Isauro Flores of Fort Stockton, Jesus Manuel Flores and Federico Flores of Delicias, Mexico, Rene Flores of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, Rogelio Flores and Fernando Flores of Midland; five daughters, Maria De La Luz Rayos of Pecos, Elpidia Flores and Maria Lucia Olivas of Fort Stockton, Martha Vehmeier of Midland and Magdalena Rodriguez of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico; three brothers, Matias Hinojos of Odessa, Esequiel Hinojos of Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico, Rutildo Hinojos of Midland; three sisters, Magdalena Hinojos of Mesquite, Benita Rodriguez of Presidio, Candelaria Carrasco of Fort Stockton; 32 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

Dennis Rasberry, 52, died on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at his home in Southland. He was born on Feb. 8, 1951 in Brownfield, and married Pamela Swindle on May 9, 1974 in Monahans. Rasberry was a subsurface engineer for ExxonMobil, a Mason and a member of numerous bass fishing clubs.

Services will be held at the Hudman Funeral Home in Post at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery in Southland, under the direction of the Hudman Funeral Home.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Rasberry of Southland; his mother, Ruth Rasberry of Pecos; his daughter, Amy Floyd of Amarillo; his son, Jimmy Rasberry of Monahans; his brother, Danny Rasberry of Pecos; and four grandchildren.

Donny Culwell

Donny Culwell, 34, died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, at Greenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Wayman Swopes officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

He was born Jan. 20, 1969, in Kermit, grew up in Jal, N.M., where he graduated from high school, attended ENMU in Portales, N.M. and Angelo State University in San Angelo, worked for Mayfield Paper Company in Odessa and his memberships included Sigma Alpha Epsilon, local Harley Owners Group and the National Harley Owners Group and Southside 109 Motorcyle Club.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ray Culwell.

Survivors include his wife, Candy Culwell of Greenwood; his children, Taylor and Mackenzie Culwell of Greenwood; his parents Rodger and Barbara Culwell of Midland; one brother, Jason Culwell of Odessa; paternal grandmother, Ima Culwell of Albuquerque, N.M.; maternal grandparents, Bob and Jean Slaughter of Kermit and his great-grandmother, Jewel Neel of Waco.

Billy Jack Evans

Billy Jack Evans, 71, of Midland, died Monday, Dec. 22, 2003.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 27, at First Baptist Church in Midland with Rev. Bob Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

He was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Coahoma, graduated from Midland High School, attended Texas A&M College at College Station, graduating in the spring of 1953, with an Agricultural degree in Range and Forestry, was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force, was employed by the U.S.D.A., for one year as a range specialist, reported for two years of active duty for training at Lowry Air Force Base, Denver, Colo., as a Photo-Radar Intelligence Officer, was assigned to Japan to complete his tour of duty, later worked for the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs on the Papago Reservation located near Tucson, Ariz., moved to Midland to commence a 45 year farming and ranching occupation that extended to Reeves and Jeff Davis counties and ranching in New Mexico and Colorado and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Midland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Palmer and Louise Evans of Greenwood; one son, Alan Lane Evans and twin daughters, Sharon and Suzanne Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Ruth Anguish Evans of Midland; three sons, Scott Evans of Jeff Davis County, Paul Evans of Stanton, Dusty Evans of Midland; two daughters, Elaine Evans Shock of Midland, Lori Evans Lucas of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Ida Robison of Midland and one brother Bob Evans of Greenwood.

Rosa Arenivas

Rosa Arenivas, 85, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003 at her home.

Church service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26, at La Nueva Vida Baptist Church with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.

She was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Ruidosa, was a lifetime resident of Pecos, a homemaker and a Baptist.

Arenivas was preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Arenivas and one son, Eugenio Arenivas.

Survivors include four sons, Albino and Aniceto Arenivas of Pecos, Benito and Francisco Arenivas of Odessa; two daughters, Maria De La Luz Bueno of Odessa, Carmen Arenivas of Pecos; one brother, Nasario Carrasco of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Rita Ramirez of Carlsbad, N.M., Constancia Arenivas of Sacramento, Maria Valenzuela of Monahans; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Esperanza Franco Saenz

Esperanza Franco Saenz, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003 in an El Paso hospital. A rosary will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Van Horn, with mass scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at the church. Burial will follow in Van Horn Cemetery under the direction of Van Horn Funeral Home.

Saenz was born in LaPaz, Chih., Mexico, on April 24, 1919. she had lived in Van Horn for the past 10 years, was a homemaker and a Catholic.

She was preceeded in death by her husband, David Saenz, and three children, Rogelio, Leonico and Tomasita Saenz.

Survivors include six daughters, Cele Meraz and Ramona Barrera of Pecos, Jacinta Velez and Juanita Carrasco of Van Horn, Socorro Taylor of Odessa and Ludy Valderano of Hobbs, N.M.; two sons, Librado Saenz of Odessa and Domingo Saenz of Van Horn; one brother, Emilio Franco of Porvenir, Chih., Mexico, 27 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Lorenzo Olivas

Lorenzo F. Olivas, 71, of Ft. Stockton, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, at the Ft. Stockton Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ft. Stockton with Father David Herrera. Burial will be held at 2 p.m., in Greenwood Cemetery in Pecos.

He was born Sept. 26, 1932, in Luis Leon, Chih., Mexico, had lived in Ft. Stockton for 53 years, was a roustabout employee and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Olivas was preceded in death by his wife Teresa Olivas.

Survivors include one son, Johnny Olivas of Pecos; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Marion Cook

Marion Cook, 80, died on Dec. 13, 2003 at 404 Palm St. Cook was born on Aug. 16, 1923 in Terrell, AR, but lived in Pecos where he worked as a welder. Cook served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and was the past Commander of the local American Legion post. Cook was a devout Christian and a member of the First Christian Church.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec 16 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Ernie Waggoner officiating, and burial following at the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on today at the Pecos Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.

Cook is survived by his wife, Annie Cook of Pecos; his son, William L. Cook of Pecos; his daughter, Cynthia Scott of Big Spring. Also surviving are Cook's four brothers, Willis Cook of Beaumont; Gene Cook of Mentone; Ernest Cook of Pecos; and Johnny Cook Sr. of Odessa; as well as his sister Jo Ann Beachamp of San Angelo and one grandchild.

Robert Caroline

Robert "Dusty" Caroline, 73, died on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 in Fort Davis. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Church in the Mountains in Fort Davis, with graveside services scheduled for 4 p.m. (CST) at Memory Gardens of the Valley in Santa Teresa, N.M. Services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.

Caroline was born on May 19, 1930 to Edmund "Sammy" Caroline and Mary "Bobbie" Caroline in Pecos. He graduated from Pecos High School in 1947 and from Texas Western University (UTEP) in 1954. He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army and married Janice Anderson on April 4, 1959. The couple lived for 29 years in El Paso, where Caroline was employed by A.G. Edwards.

He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Caroline.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Caroline; three daughters, Monica Dorazio of San Antonio, Joni Lloyd of North Platte, Neb. And Jeanne Miller of Las Cruces, N.M; one son, Robert Caroline of Knoxville, Tenn., and nine grandchildren.

Larry Claverie

Larry Claverie, 53, died on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 at Reeves County Hospital. A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, at Toyah Baptist Church, with cake and coffee to be served following the service at Terry's Grill.

He was born on July 15, 1950 and was serving on the Toyah City Council at the time of his death.

Survivors include his companion, Donna Brightman of Toyah, his mother, Evelyn Wade of Tucson, Ariz., his stepmother, Geraldine Claverie of Tucson, Ariz., two daughters, Lisa Claverie and Amanda Butcher of Waco; three sisters, Judy Ewing and Recee Wright of Tucson, Ariz., and Renee Alsup of Richfield, Wash.; three step-brothers, Glenn McFarland of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and David Hargrove and Art Hargrove of Tucson, Ariz., and one grandchild.

Willie B. Hall

Willie B. Hall, 81, died Friday, Dec. 5 at the Reeves County Hospital of natural causes. Hall was born on August 3, 1922 in Elam Grove, but spent the majority of his life in Pecos.

Hall was a WWII Army veteran, a retired pipeline worker and a devout Baptist.

Viewing will be held today through Wednesday, Dec. 10 at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on the Dec. 10 at the Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at the East Side Cemetery.

Hall is survived by his brother, Andrew McGrew of Pecos, and his children: Donnie Hall of Pecos, Jackie Robinson of Houston, John L. Stanton of Houston, Reginald Jenkins of New York, Bea Wilson of Pecos, and Reccia Mauldin of Odessa, as well as four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, six great-great grand children, two great-great-great grand children, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Cresencio "Chencho" Anchondo

Cresencio "Chencho" Anchondo, 67, died Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

Anchondo was born June 6, 1936 in Tieras Nuevas, Chihuahua, Mexico. He resided in Pecos for many years and was a devout catholic. Anchondo was a retired truck driver.

Services will be held at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church at 12 noon on Wednesday, Dec. 10, with graveside service to follow at the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery.

A rosary service will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Santa Rosa. Pecos Funeral Home is in chare of arraignments.

Anchondo was preceded in death by his wife Amelia Espinosa Anchondo, his son Rickey Anchondo, and two daughters: Maria Arenivas and Cynthia Anchondo.

He is survived by five sons: Jesse Anchondo, and Sam Anchondo of Pecos; and Cresencio Anchondo Jr. and Javier Anchondo and Roy Anchondo of Odessa; three daughters, Lupita Patino and Imelda Anchondo of Pecos and Wilma Bernal, Odessa; three brothers, Juan Anchondo and Bernardo Anchondo of Pecos; and Felix Abila of Barstow, and one sister, Tia Cres, of Topeka, Kan.

Rebecca Crouch

Rebecca Bates Crouch, 46, of Albuquerque, N.M., died Oct. 8, 2003.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Chaparral Village with Walter Burch officiating. Burial will be in Chaparral Village Cemetery.

She was born Dec. 7, 1956, in Ft. Worth, was a nurse, and had served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include one daughter, Cassie Bennett of Albuquerque, N.M.; her mother, Mary G. Bates of Pecos; her father, Robert I. Crouch of Chaparral Village and one brother, Gene Crouch of Oro Grande, N.M.

Antonia Arredondo

Antonia C. Arredondo, 81, of Pecos, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at Reeves County Hospital.

A rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m., today, Thursday, Dec. 4, at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel.

Mass is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with Father Ben Florez officiating.

She was born June 13, 1922, in Durango, Mexico, was a homemaker and a Catholic.

Arredondo was preceded in death by her husband, Atilano Arredondo.

Survivors include three sons, Jose A. Arredondo of San Antonio, Armando C. Arredondo of San Angelo, Javier C. Arredondo of Pecos; four daughters, Aurora C. Arredondo, Aida A. Garcia, Mary C. Arredondo, Eva C. Arredondo, all of Pecos; two brothers, Alberto Cardial of El Paso, Alejandro Cardial of Juarez, Chih., Mexico; one sister, Rosario Garcia of Riato, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Mary Ruth Eudaily

Mary Ruth Eudaily, 86, of Midland, died Tuesday, December 2, 2003.

She was born September 6, 1917 to Claude Elkins and Edna Buchanan Elkins in Pecos, Texas, and was a graduate of Pecos High School. On March 16, 1941, she married Raymond Marcus Eudaily. The couple lived in Pecos while Raymond was in the service and moved to Midland in 1946.

She was preceded in death by her her husband, Raymond; and two brothers, Parker Elkins and Claude Elkins.

Eudaily is survived by her son, Daniel Raymond Eudaily; daughter Sylvia Irene Eudaily Pearce; two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, Kyle Pearce, Brooke Pearce and Keith Pearce; Cameron Naylor, Austin LaBrie; Jennifer Mackey and her husband, Don Mackey; Amy Danielle Smith; and five great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today at Ellis Funeral Home in Midland from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2003 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jerry Berry officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
