Theil, Parker win top flight in Beau Jack golf

The team of Corey Theil and Michael Parker won a playoff to capture first place in the Championship Flight of the annual Beau Jack Tournament, held Saturday and Sunday at the Reeves County Golf Course.

The two won on the second hole of the playoff, defeating Mike and Alan Claburn, after both teams shot 61-66-127 scores for the 36-hole tournament. Placing third after winning a playoff was the team of Marcus and Robert Lopez, who shot 65-67-134 over the two days of play.

The tournament was divided into five flights, with playoffs deciding first or second in several of the morning and afternoon flights.

Butch Allaire and Ricky Young shot a 69-64-133 to win the First Flight, while the teams of Albert Bozmans and Primo Gonzalez beat out Craig Davis and Terry Ott for second place. In the Second Flight, scorecard playoffs decided first and third, as Mike and Nicholas Harrison won first with a 72-70-142 score over Jeff and Galon Doan, who shot 71s both days. Tom Anderson and Ronnie Aldridge shot a 73-70-143 and won a scorecard playoff over Robert Hollander and Ector Armendariz, also had 73-70-143s for the tournament.

Third Flight winners were Keith and Chad Windham, with 66-70-136 scores, followed by Dallas Jarrett and Randle Barmore, with a 68-71-139, and Jay and Scooter Shaffer, with a 67-63-140 total. Three teams tied for first in the Fourth Flight, with Steve and Tyler Doan winning in the scorecard playoff with a 76-72-148 score. They were followed by Frank Nunez and Mario Florez, who also had a 76-72-148, and Raul and Rene Molinar, who score a 78-70-148.

In the Fifth Flight, Roger Granado and Rico Pino shot 68s both days to finish with a 136 score. Daniel Hernandez and Sammy Matta were second, with a 71-69-140 score, and Gilbert and Ricky Lujan placed third, with 73-69-142 scores.
