Softball tourney in Monahans
benefits group for WTSS kids
The West Texas Community Resource Council for Troubled Youth will hold a co-ed softball tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 14-15, at the Monahans Softball complex. The tournament will have a 12-team limit with an entry deadline of Aug. 12.
The council is a non-profit corporation that helps with youths who are in detention at the West Texas State School in Pyote. Proceeds from the tournament will go towards that effort.
Entry fee is $125 per team. T-shirts will be given to the top three finishers, along with 10 all-tournament selections.

Flag football, volleyball leagues
start sign-ups at rec department
Registration is underway at the Reeves County Community Sports and Recreation Department for the youth volleyball and flag football programs for this fall.
The flag football program is open to children ages 5 through 7, and has a sign-up deadline of August 27. The youth volleyball program is for students in second through sixth grade and has a deadline to register of August 28.
Entry fee for both leagues is $10 per child, and the entry form must have both parents’ signatures along with a copy of the child’s birth certificate.
Sign-up forms are available at the recreation department office in the old Pecos High School gym. For further information, call 447-9776.
