AJRA rodeo local entries get 3rd places
Competitors from around West Texas were at the Buck Jackson Rodeo Arena on Saturday and Sunday, competing in one of three American Junior Rodeo Association events in the area during the past week.
The AJRA held events in Pecos, Monahans and Crane over the past week. The Pecos event attracted about 100 entries including several local competitors in the various age groups.
The highest finisher in that group was John Clark, who placed third in the boys 16-19 year old Tiedown competition with a time of 11.21 seconds. He also placed sixth while working as a header in the 16-19 year old Team Roping event. Clark and partner Quincy Kueckelhan had an 11.87 time.
Also placing in the Top 3 in an events was Ryan Salcido. He was third in the9-12 boys Poles with a 28.30 time and also finished seventh in the 9-12 boys Barrels with a 19.41 time. Matthew Martinez was ninth in that event, with a 20.55 time.
Other local competitors included Alex Morales, who was seventh with partner Justin Boatright in the boys 16-19 Team Roping; Kaci Harrison, who was 10th in the girls 16-19 Breakaway Roping; and Mayle McElroy, who was 10th in the girls 9-12 Barrels. Another competitor with family in the area, Sarah Faulkner of Odessa, placed 10th in the girls 16-19 Barrels.
