Dannelley and McCree marry

in private covenant ceremony

Sylvia Shirk Dannelley and Buddy McCree were married in a private covenant ceremony, Friday, Sept. 12, in Pecos.

Greer Willis officiated with Jim Jeanine Ivy standing with them. During the McCrees' courtship, the Ivy's had often served as chaperones. Nichi, Sylvia's daughter, who brought the couple together attended as did Elizabeth McCree, Buddy's mother.

Sylvia is a diagnostician in the PBT-ISD special education department, but her passion is Christian missions. Her retired parents, Mennonite missionaries primarily in India and Hong Kong, planted the seed of Christian service in Sylvia. Sylvia and Jay, her first husband who died while on a short-term mission trip to Kenya, served primarily in Kenya where they adopted two children T.K. and Nichi. Then they had a natural born son, Jay Allen.

T.K. was named an All American Wheelchair Basketball player and currently is playing with the Denver Nuggets team. He and his wife, Kimberly, are fostering to adopt two sisters, J'maya and Barbara. Nichi is attending Odessa College. Jay Allen is a freshman at Texas Tech University.

Buddy was a partner with a national CPA firm having served in Houston, Midland, Phoenix and Dallas. He joined Mack Pogue (Lincoln Property Co.) to assist in deal negotiation and consummation of the split between Trammell Crow and Mack Pogue. Next he formed and grew his Dallas based CPA firm into a regional operation serving clients in three states. Then Trammell Crow asked him to be his family trouble shooter.

Buddy has two daughters and five grandchildren. Celia, his first wife died in Dallas. Marilyn Martin is Director of Children's Ministry at Vista Ridge Baptist Church in Carrollton. Mike and Marilyn have Brooke and Allie. Lisa Matchett was on the pre-school staff on a Plano, Presbyterian Church before Bill, her husband, was transferred to Illinois. Currently they are in Saginaw, MI where Lisa is room mother and Bible School volunteer for her two older children and the nursing mother of her baby boy.

Buddy has formed Blacksmith Buddys, Inc. (iron sharpening iron) for his Christian men's mentoring ministry. Sylvia will continue with PBT-ISD while planning their next mission trip to Kenya and beyond. Buddy and Sylvia ask for your prayers that they live in the power of prayer for one purpose to seek, find and follow GOD's will, individually as well as a couple.

A Pecos wedding celebration is planned in December when family and friends from Pecos and from around the world can come and celebrate first the birth of Christ as well as the McCrees' marriage.
