Pecos 9-10 All Stars headed to Lubbock
Nine civilian cars, most with “District Champs” painted on the windows and escorted by a couple of sheriff’s vehicles, headed out of town Thursday morning headed for Lubbock. The cars were packed with the parents and players of the Pecos 9-10 All Stars who are headed for the Little League Sectional playoffs, after securing the District Championship last weekend by destroying Kermit 14-0.
Coach Arturo Quintana is excited about his team’s play, and their chances Thursday night in Lubbock.
“We have a real good chance,” he said. “If we hit like we have been hitting, and execute like we have been executing, we have a real good chance of going to state.”
But first the All Stars must play Thursday night at the Lubbock Southwest Complex at 8pm. Quintana will not know what team his players will face until two other games are played Thursday afternoon. First Lubbock Western has to battle Lubbock Cooper, and the winner of that match will play the winner of District 38 that consists of small towns east of Lubbock.
The Pecos batters will face the winner of the second contest.
