Hill, McCoy, Wells and Connally score a

62 to win last weeks Senior Fun Day

Twenty-six players braved the cool, windy Thursday morning to
participate in The Senior Fun Day Scramble.

The time off for the holidays didn't slow down the team of Tino
Ontiveroz, Bob Baker, Travis Pool and Joe Connally who took first place
honors with a score of 67. Billy Wells, Dean Wells, Don McCoy, A. D.
Weir and Merve Harper won second with a score of 68.

In third place with a score of 69 was the team of Al Gallas, BilI Beair,
Jake Davis, Ray Price and George Oliver.

A pair of teams tied for fourth with 70. After the score card playoff
jack Higginbotham, Jim Davalt, Gene Jaco and Vernon Rowe got fourth
place. Jack Hill, Charles Jones, ,Lefty Wells and W. T. Phipps got
fifth.

Sixth place went to Jon Spurgin, Charles McNabb, Bob Lee and Henry
Ridings with a score of 71.

Beginning Dec. 12, the weekly Fun Day Scramble will start at 12:30 p.m.
Check in time will be at 12:15. All seniors 50 and over are invited to
come out to Ward Co. Golf Course and join the fun.

Monahans will host the Monahans Sandhill Tournament this weekend at the
sport complex located next the high School.

The Loboes will host teams from Lubbock, Fabens, El Paso, Kermit Lamesa,
Ft. Stockton, Reagan County and Pecos.

The girls will kick of the event Thursday at 9 a.m. The championship
game will be Saturday at 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the
boys.

Head Coach John Curry is looking forward to the big tournament. "We had
a good win last night over Kermit," said Coach Curry,

"We are looking forward to this tournament. There are some good coming
and some tough competition."

Coach Ron Vick: enjoys the hospitality of Monahans and likes to play
here.

"We are looking forward to the tournament", said Coach Vick, "Monahans
has always been a great place to play. In fact we played our last
play-off game there."

In addition to preparing for the season, the Loboes will get an
opportunity to see on of the team in their new district.

The Loboes go into the tournament with a 6-2 record and look to improve.

"We are pleased with our progress," commented Coach Curry, "We didn't
play to well in the friendship tournament, but we seem to be back on
track."

The Ladies are carrying a 2-7 record but have just recently got their
whole team together and will look to improve in the tourney. The Ladies
are lead in the scoring department by Eunice Tarango and Leah Johnson
who are averaging 10-points a game.
