Local Scouts kick off annual popcorn sale

The Buffalo Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America kicked off their annual sale of Trail's End Gourmet Popcorn, recently. The sale lasts through Nov. 14.

Scout Executive for the Buffalo Trails Council, indicated the Scout's popcorn sale helps to provide supplemental income to finance Scouting activities for the Council, as well as individual Scouting Units.

"Escalating program costs, the need for camping equipment and maintenance, as well as continued growth in youth participation, have prompted the Executive Board of the Council to seek additional sources of support," said Rey Galindo, Scout Executive of the Sand Hills and Big Bend districts.

"The local Scouts give a lot to our community, and by helping to support them, you are actually helping the city of Pecos," says Jay Spence, the Cub Master of Pack 191. "And what better way to help than through the purchase of popcorn?"

Last year the Buffalo Trails Council sold over 38,000 containers of Trail's End Popcorn and raised more than $88,000 for Council and Local Unit activities. The Council has a set a goal of $100,000 for this year.

"We appreciate the support that our scouting activities have received from the community and wish to express our thanks to everyone who participates," said Galindo. "When the Scout comes to your door, welcome him. It's some of the highest quality popcorn you can buy," he said.
