Valenzuelas tell of new son
April and Fernando Valenzuela announce the birth of their new baby boy,
Austin Daniel Valenzuela.
Little Austin was born Sept. 10, at 12:34 p.m., at Ward Memorial Hospital,
in Monahans. He weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces.
He was welcomed home by his brother, Fernando Jr. and one sister, Elva.
Maternal grandparents are Richard and Joyce Jenkins and paternal grandmother
is Bertha Valenzuela, all of Pecos.
Rodriguez takes fifth in track meet
South Plains College men's and women's cross country teams both took first
place on Sept. 2 at the West Texas A&M Buffalo Stampede Cross Country
Invitational in Canyon.
The Texans dominated the men's competition by placing seven runners
in the top 10 and totaling 24 points. Finishing fifth with a time of 24:06,
was Billy Rodriguez of Pecos.
Ruben Hernandez took third place and ran a time of 23:33.
Also in the top ten were seventh place Tim Vega, who ran a 24:22, eighth
place Bobby Sain, who ran a 24;30, ninth place Juan Reyes, who ran a 24:38
and 10th place Jason Sepeda, who ran a 24:54.
Rodriguez is a graduate of Pecos High School.
