Seven win honors in tournament
Seven students from the local Cross Taekwondo Studio attended a Color Belt
Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 7, which was held at Nunez's Taekwondo Studio
in Odessa.
Several medals were brought back by the students.
Participants ranged from yellow belt to black belt levels. Competition
was in patterns, sparring and breaking.
Winning medals were Mason Hounshell, a first degree black belt who placed
second in patterns, first in sparring and first in breaking; Janet Cranfill
won second place in patterns; Megan Cranfill and Bryan Chowning placed
third in patterns.
Janet Cranfill, Megan Cranfill and Chowning are all at red belt level.
Lyndsay Chowning brought home a first place medal in patterns. She is
a green belt.
In the yellow belt division, Scott Cranfill placed third in patterns
and third in sparring; Richard Gutierrez won a second place medal in patterns
and a first place in sparring.
