BPW concludes club year with fiesta dinner
Members of the Pecos Business and Professional Women's Club met
in the home of Linda Gholson, recently, for a fiesta stackup dinner and
installation ceremony.
This meeting concluded the 1998-1999 club year. The next scheduled meeting
will be in September after a three month break.
Kristie Hennessey, District Eight director and president of the Odessa
BPW Club, performed the installation. She used a candle light ceremony
and incorporated the Club Collect with instructions for each officer.
Afterwards, members read in unison the Federation Objectives.
Kathy Hurley was installed as president, Linda Clark as first vice-president,
Gail Norris as secretary and Nell Maddux as treasurer.
Visiting with Ms. Hennessey was Ashley Bartlett of of the Odessa club.
Other guests were the two scholarship recipients Rebecca Ortiz and Jennifer
Martinez. Rebecca will be attending Midland College this fall and will
major in computer information systems. Jennifer plans to attend Oral Roberts
University and major in dental health and minor in vocal. Each received
a $750 scholarship.
Salinas ends basic training
Army Pvt. Patsy A. Salinas has arrived at Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville,
Mo., to complete basic military training.
During the eight weeks of training, the trainee will receive instruction
in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy,
military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history and traditions.
Salinas' parents are Frank and Sue Abila of Pecos.
She is a 1989 graduate of Pecos High School.
