Golden Girl Nominee Leslie Valeriano
Leslie Matta Valeriano is the 16-year-old daughter of Rafael and
Sonia Montano.
She is sponsored by SerJco Oilfield Service Co. and Angeles Ranch.
Miss Valeriano is a member of the Business Professionals of America.
The Golden Girl nominee enjoys horseback riding, playing basketball
and listening to music. She is very interested in computers and technology.
"I have watched the Golden Girl Revue since I was a little girl, and
had only dreamed that some day I would be a part of it. And now, I will
have the honor of participating in the Golden Girl Revue and get my part
of the fun and excitement," said Miss Valeriano.
Granado named firefighter of the month
Arturo Granado has been named firefighter of the month for the month of
March.
Granado is a lieutenant on truck #303, under captain Al Baeza in the
Pecos Volunteer Fire Department.
Granado is a self-employed carpenter, who has been with the volunteer
fire department since Aug. 3, 1995.
He has attended firefighting school I and firefighting school II at
A&M.
In July of this year he will be one of the first to attend firefighting
III. the other fireman attending is Harvey Gonzales.
"We are very proud of Granado for attending the third firefighting school,"
said fire chief Roy Pena. "He is very dedicated and always willing to learn
more," he said.
"He is prompt to respond and always wants to lend a hand," said Pena.
GED Testing planned
GED Testing will be held from 5-9 p.m., Tuesday, July 6 and Wednesday,
July 7.
Registration will be held Monday, July 5, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Crockett
Middle School.
The GED Testing office will be closed between June 12-July 25.
Regular office hours will resume July 26, at the Crockett Middle School
Counselor's office.
