Chavez nets degree at CSW
Michael Chavez, 25, of Hobbs, N.M., formerly of Pecos, has received his
master's degree from College of the Southwest in New Mexico.
Chavez is a 1992 graduate of Pecos High School. In 1995, he graduated
from New Mexico Junior College with an associates; in 1997, he earned a
bachelor's degree in psychology from CSW; and on May 14, he was awarded
a master's in education with an emphasis in counseling.
He and is wife, Heather, have two children, Justin, 5 and Ramie, 2.
He is the son of Sally Chavez of Pecos.
Strain celebrates first birthday
Victoria Lynn Strain will celebrate her first birthday on Sunday, June
13.
Little Victoria will be joined by many friends and relatives at a swimming
party given in her honor at the Athletic Swimming Pool.
She is the daughter of Theresa Strain and Tony Rodriguez of Pecos.
Grandparents are Rosemary and Edward Strain and Sylvia Rubio.
Goat roping contest sponsored
World Championship Goat Roping will be held Jun 18-19 in Ozona.
On June 18, at 10 a.m., will be novices, Women's Sr. Roping and Shawn
McMullan Memorial Jr. Roping. At 6:30 p.m., novice, Big Bad Billy Goat
Bustin' will be held.
At 7 a.m., June 19, Open Roping will commence and a Cowboy Church Service
is scheduled for 4 p.m., with the finals slated for 6 p.m.
A dance featuring Asleep At the Wheel will be held from 8-12, June 19
with Tim DuBois opening.
