Moore, Fowler announce wedding plans in Pecos
Dr. and Mrs. Jaroy Moore, of Lubbock, announce the engagement of their
daughter, Meredith Rose Moore, to John Terrell Fowler, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Terrell Franklin Fowler of Pecos.
The couple will marry June 12 at First Christian Church in Pecos.
Moore was graduated from Texas A&M University and is employed by
the Lamesa Independent School District.
Fowler was graduated from Texas Tech University. He is currently employed
by Dean Foods, Inc. in Lubbock.
Chacon ends basic training
Air Force Airman Hugo Y. Chacon has graduated from basic military training
at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission,
organization, and customs and received special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward
an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Chacon is the son of Moises Chacon of Pecos and Adela G. Chacon of Eagle
Pass.
Oglesby named to scholar program
The United States Achievement Academy announce that Will Oglesby, from
Pecos, has been named an All-American Scholar.
The USAA has established the All-American Scholar Award Program to offer
deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines.
The All-American Scholars must earn a 3.3, or higher, grade point average.
Only scholars selected by a school instructor, counselor, or other qualified
sponsor are accepted. These scholars are also eligible for other awards
given by the USAA.
Oglesby, who attends Zavala Middle School was nominated for this national
award by Michelle Workman.
Oglesby will appear in the All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published
nationally.
"Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before
in America's history. Certainly, winners of the All-American Scholar Awards
should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence
and achievement," said Dr. George Stevens, Executive Director of the United
States achievement Academy.
The Academy selects All-American Scholars upon the exclusive recommendation
by teachers, coaches, counselors, and other qualified sponsors. Once awarded,
the students may be recognized by the USAA for other honors.
Will is the son of Bill and Karen Oglesby from Pecos.
The grandparents are Bill and Maxine Oglesby of Pecos and Phyllis and
Rudy Zarek of Missouri and Ralph and Bonnie Dickenson of Missouri.
