Chabarria joins U.S. Air Force
Amanda S. Chabarria, daughter of Robert and Linda Sue Chabarria, of Pecos,
entered duty in the U.S. Air Force on April 7, according to SSgt. Escobedo,
Air Force Recruiter.
She is a graduate of Pecos High School. Upon successfully completing
the Air Force's six week basic military training at Lackland Air Force
Base, near San Antonio, Chabarria is scheduled to receive technical training
in the financial management career field.
In conjunction with the vocational skills, she will be earning college
credits towards an Associate Degree through the Community College of the
Air Force while attending Basic and other Air Force technical training
schools.
Hernandez starts Army training
Army Pvt. Irene J. Hernandez has entered basic military training at Fort
Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the eight weeks of training, the soldier will study the Army
mission and will receive instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons,
map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness,
first aid, Army history and traditions, and special training in human relations.
Hernandez is the daughter of Maria and Catarino Hernandez of Pecos.
She is a 1998 graduate of Pecos High School.
Jenkins, Urquidez plan July wedding
Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Jenkins of Waskom, announce the engagement
of their daughter, Ginger Christine to Joe Urquidez, son of Mary R. Urquidez
of Midland, and the late Joe R. Urquidez.
The bridegroom is the grandson of Eusebia S. Urquidez, and the late
Julian Urquidez of Pecos.
Miss Jenkins is a 1994 graduate of Pecos High School and a graduate
of Texas Christian University where she earned a degree in nutrition. She
is currently working as a dietitian in Dallas. She is also completing a
Masters in Business Administration at the University of Dallas.
Her fiance is also a 1994 graduate of Pecos High School and a graduate
of Texas Christian University where he earned a degree in biology. He is
currently attending Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
The wedding is planned for July 10 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Dallas.
The couple plans to live in Dallas after the wedding.
Scuba certification class
A Scuba Certification Class will be held at 6:30 p.m., beginning April
27, at the Pecos High School Pool.
All equipment will be provided and the cost is $225.
