Odessa College offers courses
In keeping with Odessa College's tradition of serving the communities surrounding
the city, OC wil offer summer extension courses in Monahans and Pyote,
as well as fall extension courses for the majority of its service area.
The Monahans Extension will offer three courses for the summer at Monahans
High School: Introduction to Computer Systems, which meets from 6:20 to
10:15 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays; Principles of Economics II (Microeconomics),
which meets from 1 to 2:55 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and US and Texas
Government, which meets from 3-4:55 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
The Pyote Extension will offer Physical Geology from 6-9:55 p.m., Monday
through Thursday, in the Pyote Education Building.
OC will offer extension courses for Fall Semester 1999 in Andrews, Crane,
Kermit, Pyote, Wink, McCamey, Monahans, Pecos and Seminole.
From Monday, April 19 to Wednesday, April 21, Pyote will offer early
registration for both summer and fall courses at all extension centers.

UTPB to present flight engineer
Aprille Ericsson-Jackson, Ph.D., an aerospace engineer at NASA's Goddard
Space Flight Center, visits the Permian Basin April 23-24, as a guest of
the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Texas of the Permian
Basin.
Ericsson-Jackson, whose particular interest is encouraging youth enter
fields in science and mathematics, will present, "How to Reach Your Goals:
Encouraging Youth," as the Distinguished Lecturer for the college at 8
p.m., Friday, April 23, at the UTPB Center for Energy and Economic Diversification.
Saturday, April 24, in the UTPB Student Lounge, Ericsson-Jackson will
give two interactive presentations aimed at youth. The presentations, "Building
Reclyclable Space Vehicles," will be at 9:30 a.m., children in grades 1
through 4 and at 11 a.m. for children in grades 4 through 8.
Ericsson-Jackson holds both a master's and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering
from Howard University. She received her bachelor of science degree in
aeronautical/astronautical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of
Technology.
