Pena named employee of month at plant
Daniel Pena was selected as January Safety Employee of the Month at the
Freeport McMoran Plant.
He has been with the company for 20 years.
Pena started working in the field, then later transferred to the plant.
He then transferred to the shipping and loading department.
Pena works as tank repairman where he learned to work on railcars, loading
sulphur cars, switching cars and sand blasting. The job also requires painting
skills and he is a certified FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding).
He has always kept safety first and been willing to help when ever needed,
according to his plant supervisors.
Town Hall meeting set
The Reeves County Veterans Service Officer will be hosting a "Conversation
with Veterans" Town Hall meeting being planned by the Waco Regional Office
of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Town Hall meeeting will provide
veterans an opportunity to meet with representatives from various agencies
to share information, and voice their concerns pertaining to benfits and
services.
All veterans, surviving spouses and surviving children of veterans are
invited to attend. The Town Hall meeting will be conducted at 6 p.m., at
the Reeves County Civic Center located on Highway 285 in Pecos, on April
7.
The following agencies will be represented at the Town Hall meeting:
Department of Veterans Affairs, Waco Regional Office; U.S. Department of
Labor, Veterans Employement and Training Service; Texas Veterans Commission;
Texas Veterans Land Board; VA Hospital, Big Spring and the Veterans Center
in Midland.
