Martinez tell of son's birth
Rick and Barbara Martinez announce the birth of their son,
Richardo Pisana Martinez II.
Little Richardo was born March 18, weighing 6 pounds five
ounces and was 19 inches long.
Maternal grandmother is Kitita Tarango of Pecos.
Paternal grandparents are Salvador and Marie P. Martinez of
Pecos.
Wilkinson embarks on special exercise
Marine Lance Cpl. Clifford R. Wilkinson, son of Bill L. and
Melody Wilkinson of Mentone, recently completed an exercise
in Kuwait while assigned to the 13th Marine Expeditionary
Unit (MEU), embarked aboard the ships of the USS Boxer
Amphibious Ready Group.
Marines from Wilkinson's unit participated in Exercise Eager
Mace, a 25-day exercise involving combined arms training.
The exercise was conducted to improve the bilateral
interoperability between Kuwait and U.S. military forces. It
was the largest exercise Wilkinson's unit will participate
in during the deployment and enabled his unit to train with
all of its weapons systems in a live-fire environment.
Wilkinson's unit is an expeditionary intervention force with
the ability to rapidly organize for combat operations in
virtually environment. MEUs are composed of more than 2,000
personnel and are divided into an infantry battallion, an
aircraft squadron, a support group and a command element.
With the combination of these teams, Wilkinson's unit
supplies and sustains itself for either quick mission
accomplishment or clearing the way for follow-on forces.
The 1997 graduate of Wink High School of Wink, joined the
Marine Corps in August 1997.
