Chabarria joins delayed program


Amanda S. Chabarria, daughter of Robert and Linda Sue
Chabarria of Pecos,enlisted in the U.S. Air Force's Delayed
Enlistment Program on March 15, according to SSgt. Escobedo,
Air Force Recruiter.

Chabarria graduate from Pecos High School last year and is
scheduled for enlistment in the regular Air Force on June
30. Upon successfully completing the Air Force's six week
basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, near San
Antonio, she is scheduled to receive technical training in
the financial management career field.

In conjunction with the vocational skill, she will be
earning college credits towards an Associate Degree through
the Community College of the Air Force while attending Basic
and other Air Force technical training schools.

Area students make Dean's List


Sabrina Reeves of Fort Stockton, Brian Powell of Midland and
Blythe Ann Evans of Pecos were among over 225 Sul Ross State
University students named to the fall semester Dean's List.

Undergraduate students enrolled for 12 or more semester
hours who maintain a grade point average of 3.3 or better
are eligible for the Dean's List. Graduate hours are not
included in Dean's List computations.

Reeves compiles a 3.8 grade point average, Powell, 4.0, and
Evans earned a 3.54 GPA.

OC offers guard training course


Odessa College is accepting applications for the state
prison guard training program. Jobs are available through
the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Applications for the training program will be accepted until
Tuesday, April 20, and are available through the OC
department of law enforcement and criminal justice. The
department will test all candidates Tuesday, April 27, and
interviews begin Wednesday, April 28. Those who pass both
the test and the interview will train at OC beginning
Tuesday, June 1 and ending Monday, June 28.

Applicants must be at least 18-years-old and have a
high-school diploma or GED. For more information, call
