Egan, Bennett exchange wedding vows
Miss Katherine Flanary Egan and Bjorn Andrew Bennett were
married Nov. 14, at Wynne Chapel of Highland Park
Presbyterian Church. The Reverend Marshall Zieman officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Flanary Egan
of University Park and the granddaughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Michael Egan of Highland Park and Mrs. John
Robert Dean and the late Mr. Dean of Pecos.
Mr. Bennett is the son of Mrs. Andrew Joseph Bennett of
Burke, Va., and the late Mr. Bennett. He is the grandson of
the late Tage and Bibbi Lundeberg of Stockholm, Sweden and
John and Martha Bennett of Philadelphia, Penn.
Miss Egan is a graduate of Highland Park High School where
she was an editor of the yearbook and a varsity soccer
player. She attended Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., where
she served as Vice President-Finance of Kappa Alpha Theta.
She received a BA in English before moving to Washington,
D.C. as a Fellow for the National Journalism Center. She is
Managing Editor of Recycling Times.
Mr. Bennett is a graduate of W.T. Woodson High School in
Fairfax, Va. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army in
Nuremburg, Germany, where he received the Army Achievement
and Army Commendation medals, before attending the
Univeristy of Maryland where he received a BA in Business
Administration. He is Quality Control Supervisor for the
Federal Home Loan Mortgage Association (Freddie Mac).
The wedding party included the bride's sisters, Elizabeth
Dean Egan and Mary Camp Egan, and the groom's brothers, Tor
John Bennett and Erik Stephen Bennett.
The house party included Susan Simpkins Reed, Sara Michelle
Schiavoni, Kristin Marshall Dye, Lisa Gregg Schroeder and
Shelly Terry. Armando Huerta and Mark Johnson served as
ushers.
A reception was held at the home of the bride's parents.
Following a wedding trip to Costa Rica, the couple will live
in Alexandria, Va.
Griffis in Middle East
John Allen Griffis II has been assigned to the USS Dubuque
and is now stationed in the Middle East.
He is a 1998 graduate of Ft. Davis High School and took his
basic training at the N.T.C., Great Lakes, Ill. and Virginia
Beach, Va.
He is the son of Jerry Griffis of Ft. Davis and the grandson
of John Allen and Clara Griffis of Pecos.
He spent the Christmas holidays with family and friends in
the Pecos area.
