Marshalls tell of new son


JoBob and Amy Marshall, of Sugarland, announce the birth of
their new baby boy, Andrew Galen.

Little Andrew was born Jan. 14, and weighed eight pounds,
six and a half ounces. He was 21 inches long at birth.

He was welcomed home by his big brother, Tyler.

Proud grandparents are Bill and Sherry Marshall of Pecos.

Maternal grandparents are Gaylon and Loretta Patterson.

Pecos residents earn degrees


Two Pecos residents were candidates for graduation from The
University of Texas of the Permian Basin in Odessa.
Commencement ceremonies for summer and fall 1998 graduates
were held on Dec. 12, in the UTPB Gymnasium.

Herby T. Hinojos received a bachelor of arts degree in
criminology and Criselda M. Martinez received a bachelor of
business administration degree in accountancy and
information systems.

Lopez named officer of month


Joe Lopez has been selected as Correctional Officer of the
month for January.

Lopez has been employed at The Reeves County Detention
Center since March 14, 1997.

He is married to Priscilla Lopez and is the proud father of
three children.

"Lopez is an employee who is dedicated to the philosophy of
The Reeves County Detention Center and can be depended upon
to accept and perform on any assignment, regardless of the
nature of the assignment," said RCDC Warden Rudy Franco.

"He displayed his willingness and enthusiasm when he was
selected as a temporary Captain's Clerk," he said.

He always earned favorable comments from his supervisors and
continually strive to improve his knowledge of the functions
of the custodial service, according to Franco.

"I would like to take this opportunity to wish Mr. Lopez
continued success in his career with the Reeves County
Detention Center, said Franco.
