Zamarripa receives award
Sandra Zamarripa of Pecos was honored recently with the
award of Most Active organizational member for Fall of 1998
by the Hispanic Business Student Association at Southwest
Texas State University. As a member of the Hispanic Business
Student Association this is one of the most prestigious
awards given to students who are involved in any type of
organization at SWT.
The award was based on academic standing and involvement in
the organization and activities around campus. This award
will be presented to Zamarripa at the annual HBSA winter
banquet on Dec. 6, at Landry's restaurant in Austin.
Zamarripa is a junior at Southwest Texas State Univeristy
majoring in Business Administration. She is a member of the
Hispanic Business Student Association, National Hispanic
Business Association, mentoring program and the 1st Annual
Multicultural Career Conference Coordinating Committee.
She is employed by the Executive Vice President at Southwest
Texas State University and also performs private tutoring.
Her future plans are to receive a Bachelor's degree in
Business Administration and then go on to gradaute school
and receive a Masters in either International Business or
Public Administration.
The Hispanic Business Student Association was founded with a
purpose of creating a professional business organization for
the Hispanic students at Southwest Texas State University.
Their main goal is the advancement of Hispanic students in
the business world. In order to achieve this goal, they
provide informative meetings that deal with vital issues
that deal with the business world and the Hispanic culture.
HBSA teaches vital business skills such as writing the best
resumes, learning successful interviewing skills and finding
the best job.
HBSA introduces the business culture by providing business
facility tour, motivational guest speakers, business
conferences, and business seminars. HBSA also offers
scholarships to reward involvement and believes in helping
others.
HBSA, however, is not all work. Social activities are
planned throughout the year to promote good working
relationships as well as long lasting friendships.
HBSA at SWT is a chartered member of the National Hispanic
Business Association. NHBA sponsors an annual national
conference and job fair which focuses on recruiting and
empowering Hispanic students.
Ephriams celebrate 30th anniversary
Benny and Lonie Ephriam celebrated three decades of marriage
with a gathering held in their honor and attended by
numerous friends and relatives.
They were married Nov. 30, 1968 and R.M. Montgomery
officiated.
The Ephriams are proud parents of three sons and one
daughter, Benny Ephriam, Jr., Christopher Ephriam and twins
Jadson and Jessica Ephriam.
They also have several grandchildren.
