Arreguy joins U.S. Army


Army Pvt. Richard R. Arreguy has arrived at Fort Sill,
Lawton, Okla., to begin One Station Unit Training (OSUT).
The training includes completion of basic military training
and advanced individual training (AIT).

During basic training, the trainee receives instruction in
drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics,
military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first
aid, and Army history and traditions.

Afterward, the soldier completes advanced individual
training as a field artillery cannon crewmember. The
ammunition for firing; operate and perform operator
maintenance on prime movers, self-propelled Howitzers, and
participate in organizational maintenance of weapons and
related equipment. The soldier also learns to establish and
maintain radio and wire communications.

Arreguy is the son of Delma A. and Richard Y. Arreguy, of
Pecos.

In 1998, he graduated from Pecos High School.
