The Balmorhea School Clinic will be offering free flu shots.
These are for BISD students, BISD parents and Balmorhea
community only. Children from four and older can take the
shot. Shots will be given from 1-4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 26
through Friday, Oct. 30, and beginning at 9 a.m., Saturday,
Oct. 31. For further information, call 375-2223.
The American Lung Association is sponsoring the Open Airways
Program for Schools. LeMorris Galberth will present the
program to the health science class at BISD on Oct. 28. This
program teaches students how to manage their asthma. The
health science class will in turn work with the other
students in school with asthma management.
Congratulations goes out to the Varsity Volleyball team.
They took on the Buena Vista Longhorns Tuesday night on home
court and walked away the victors! This was their first
district win in some years. Outstanding servers were
Stephanie Dominguez, Amy Garcia, Michelle Barrandey and
Terry Hernandez. Amy Garcia had several good blocks at the
net also.
Brenda Dutchover was outstanding setter. Team support came
from Rachel Carrasco, Erika Apodoca, Samantha Natividad,
Amanda Lozano and Aricela Arredondo.
The junior high team lost their match to Buena Vista.
Next meet will be this Saturday against Wink Wildcats in
Balmorhea at 4 p.m. And the last district game will be here
at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 27 against Grandfalls. Come on out
and see our girls in action.
The Cubs travelled to Sierra Blanca to take on the Vaqueros
again. Hope
they come home winners again.
The Bears will travel to Buena Vista tonight to take on the
Longhorns. Bears will be looking for another district win
tonight.
Remember the Heartwalk is Saturday at 10 a.m. at the
football field. Be sure to come walk in the fight against
heart disease.
Balmorhea ReCAT will have a meeting on November 2 at 6:30 pm
at the Balmorhea Firehall. All community members are invited
to attend. This group is working toward uniting the
communtiy to work on community improvements. They would like
involvement from students, parents, business people as well
as community members.
