Balmorhea's American Heart Association Heartwalk will be
held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at the football field.
Roadmaster has donated a bike to be given to the student
that raises the most money for the walk.
Also a pizza party will be awarded to the class or
organization that raises the most money as a group. A
healthy hot dog lunch will be served to all walkers at noon
following the walk. Anyone in the community that is a heart
survior is invited to come walk. You will be given a red
ball cap to denote that you are a survivor. For further
information you can contact Carol Hoffmeyer at 375-2223.
On Monday, Oct. 19 Balmorhea will host a District Cross
Country Meet. This will be a junior high, junior varsity and
varsity meet. It will be a good chance for all to come out
and see our runners compete.
The volleyball girls had have some tough district games.
Against Wink Wildcats in Wink last Saturday both junior high
and varsity lost. On Tuesday, Oct. 13 the girls travelled to
Grandfalls. Junior Varsity pulled out a win with game scores
of 15-10, 15-13 and 15-9. Our other two teams were defeated.
Tuesday, Oct. 20 they take on Buena Vista Longhorns here on
the home court followed by a meet with Dell City on Friday
at 4 p.m. The Dell City game is a non-district game. The
girls need all of you to come out and show your support.
They have made many improvements in their game play this
year and you will enjoy watching them play.
Balmorhea Bears will take on the Dell City Cougars Friday
night following the volleyball games. Start time is 7:30
p.m. Hope to see everyone at both games supporting our young
athletes.
The Cubs will travel to Sierra Blanca on Thursday, Oct. 22.
They defeated the Vaqueros at their last meeting and will
surely bring home another win.
Red Ribbon Week will be Oct. 19 through Oct. 23. There will
be activities to encourage students to be drug free.
