High school rodeo event set in Pecos

The Pecos 4-H Saddle Club will be sponsoring the Region II
High School Rodeo at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Buck
Jackson Rodeo Arena, for the Queen's Contest with the
performance starting at 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 18, at 9
a.m. for the cutting and Sunday's performance starting at 11

There will be 100 contestants competing each day.

This is the fourth and final rodeo of the fall season.
Previous rodeos were in Big Lake, Ozona and Del Rio.

The Spring rodeos will begin in March to be held in Ft.
Stockton and Odessa with regionals in San Angelo in April.

Top 10 contestants in each event after regionals from each
region in Texas advance to the state finals in Abilene in
June. The top four in each event after state then advance to
Nationals in Gilette, Wyoming, in July.

The Pecos High School Rodeo team consists of sophomore,
Courtney Clark and Junior students Clay McKinney and Brandi

Clark is a second year competitor and will compete in the

Harrison is a rookie who will compete in barrels, pole
bending, breakaway roping, and goat tying.

McKinney is a second year competitor and will compete in the
team roping.
