Lujan joins U.S. Air Force
Nathan J. Lujan, son of Elighio and Lisa Lujan of Pecos,
enlisted in the U.S. Air Force's Delayed Enlistment Program
on Sept. 28, according to SSgt. Escobedo, Air Force
Lujan will graduate from Pecos High School in May 99 and is
scheduled for enlistment in the regular Air Force on June 2,
1999. Upon successfully completing the Air Force's six week
basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, near San
Antonio, he is scheduled to receive technical training in a
mechanical aptitude area career field.
In conjunction with the vocational skill, he will be earning
college credits towards an Associate Degree through the
Community College of the Air Force while attending Basic and
other Air Force technical training schools.
Rico selected as employee of month
Mariano Rico has been selected as Employee of the Month for
Rico has been employed at the Reeves County Detention Center
since May 14, 1989, starting in the custody division and
later advancing to the maintenance department.
He is married to Jessie Rico.
During the period of May through August 1998, Rico was
instrumental in providing a complete revision of Units, A,B,
This assignment required the installation of showers and
additional bunks. "Rico entered upon this formidable and
tedious task with enthusiasm and can-do attitude which we
have come to expect from him," said RCDC Warden Rudy Franco.
Rico is a tireless worker who continually seeks new
challenges and meets the challenge with a fierce
determination. These attributes were very evident during
this rating period.
