Doyle wins Monahans bull riding

A couple of great rides Friday night by Tulia, Tx., cowboy
Scott Doyle easily stood up to all challengers on Saturday,
during the two-day Monahans "Way Out West" Bull Riding
competition.

The show was staged by Bad Company Rodeo as part of the
weekend's Butterfield Overland Stagecoach Festival in
Monahans, and featured many of the same bulls who were part
of the West of the Pecos Rodeo over the July 4 weekend.

Doyle scored 92 points on board `Copenhagen Wild Thing' to
earn $8,142.75. He also picked up a $1,000 by scoring 88
points in a bonus ride on `Boom Shakalaka', the same total
runner-up Layne McCasland of Wheeler earned for his ride on
Friday on `Twilight Zone'

The top six rides in the two-day show all were during
Friday's performance. Daniel Phillip of Azle scored 85
points on `La Grange' to place third overall, while Corey
Navarre of Weatherford, Okla., took fourth, by scoring 84
points on `Bad Boy.'

On Saturday, the best rides came from Wade Leslie of Moses
Lake, Wash., and Dusty Labeth of Stanley, Kan. Both scored
81 points, Leslie on board `Smoke' and Labeth with a ride on
`Ghostbuster.' The tie for sixth, along with Friday
bullrider Jay Bryant, was worth $387.75, but Leslie also
picked up $1,000 for his bonus ride of 85 points on `Achey
Breaky' at the end of Saturday's show.
